Implementation of Smart Control System based on Intelligent Dimming with LEDs

  • In this paper, an intelligent dimming control system is designed and implemented with the human visual response function using CDS sensor, PIR sensor and temperature sensor, etc. The proposed system is designed to detect a moving object by PIR sensor and to control the LED dimming considering the human visual response. Also, the dimming of LED light can modulate on the app, and simultaneously control dimming in real-world environments with smart phone app. A high-temperature warning or a fire hazard information is transmitted to user's smart phone according to sensor values and Data graph are provided as part of data visualization. Connecting the hardware controller, the proposed intelligent smart dimming control system is expected to contribute to the power reduction interior LED, smart grid building and saving home combining with internet of things.

  • In this paper, LED lighting system is realized by using Bluetooth wireless communications and smartphones. A bluetooth module with a lighting control function is manufactured by miniaturizing a development board of TI company and the volume of LED dimming system as a whole is reduced. And a trial product is materialized by designing a hardware composed of the manufactured bluetooth module, LED down light equipped with degree warm white and cool white, and 2-channel LED driver; and LED dimming software. The materialized trial product is controled in terms of the brightness and color temperature of LED light source using an application of a smartphone. The experiment showed that the users can easily control the intensity of illumination of LED light source by using the scroll bar of the applications of smartphones. In addition, the color temperatures of both warm white and cool white can be controlled, and when the color temperature of the trial product using the manufactured bluetooth module is compared with that of a trial product of TI company, they show the same color temperatures.

  • An LED driving and control circuit has been developed. The LED driver has a new PWM circuit for current control of LED columns with dimming, current and thermal control, and communication functions. The PWM circuit is composed of two ring oscillator and one counter which can be constructed using basic digital logic components. In addition, it has the functions of remote control mode such as ON, OFF, emergency and power saving modes by the serial communication. The PWM generator and control circuit have been designed and fabricated 0.35[${\mu}m$] Magnachip/Hynix digital IC fabrication process. The LED driving and control board using the developed chip is fabricated and tested successfully.

  • In this paper, in order to economize energy inside the vertical-type water treatment plant, a chamber-illumination-LED control board, which operates via nature light or human's touches, is proposed. Moreover, this illumination control process is contrived to be wirelessly monitored in real-rime. In addition, Zigbee communication code is programmed to implement the control board's function of wireless data transmission and automatic LED brightness control. The presented control method contrives brightness to be adjusted in real-time by dimming control, which means nature light changes control, so that the interior energy can realize the maximum energy conservation.

  • An LED lighting which adjusted brightness according to the surround ambient implemented using PWM technology and power devices. To measure the brightness of surround ambient a CdS sensor was used. A control board for the generation of the PWM signal was made using a MCU and duty ratio was controlled according to light intensity of surround ambient of the system. To drive the LED lamps which require high-voltage and high-current power devices were used for switching the DC power supply. Measurement results show that the IGBT is excellent as only lineality but the PowerBJT is more good to consider to efficiency and cost.

  • In this study, we proposed WLED(White-Light Emitting Diode) driver IC for mobile applications. This IC drove WLED for mobile applications with low input voltage and high efficiency by using boost converter. The device was designed by using boost converter applied current-mode control algorithm and provided PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) & analog dimming. Designed IC consisted of bias block, drive block, control block, protection block. We confirmed this device worked well through a application PCB (Printed Circuit Board) test.
