  • Three-dimensional(3D) virtual clothing simulation system may require the use of physical, mechanical, and configurational data in order to mimic the actual clothing with high degree of realism. Therefore the 3-dimensional scanning system based on optical methods was adopted to extract the 3-dimensional data of the fabric surface. In this study, the appearances of the 3-dimensionally transformed textile fabrics via several finishing procedures were investigated using a 3D scanning system. The wool gauze fabrics treated with the shrink-proof finishing and the felting process showed height changes up to 4.5mm. The 3-dimensional configuration may be objectively described by the use of mesh generation from the scanned output. The generated mesh information may further be utilized in the 3D virtual clothing simulation system for accurate description of the fashionable textile materials used in the simulation system.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the dimensional changes and surface morphology of dentures processed by various polymerization conditions. The measurements were done by taking radiograph and using vernier calipers and each specimen was observed on scanning electron microscope. Results obtained were as follows. 1. The difference of dimensional stability was not recognized between various polymerization conditions(heat-cured resin, pour-type resin, microwave-cured resin, and injection molding resin). 2. There were expansion and shrinkage in the occlusal dimension, shrinkage in the frontal dimension, and expansion in the lateral dimension. 3. Scanning electron microscope pictures of heat-cured resin showed dense and regular surface morphology. 4. Microwave-cured resin surface appeared more regular and smooth than pour-type resin but less dense and more irregular than heat-cured resin. 5. Scanning electron microscope pictures of pour-type resin with the lowest dimensional change showed the most irregular surface morphology.

  • A portable terminal assistant market grows rapidly every year and it requires many change in research on display devices. Among many newly developing methods, OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode) is considered an advanced flat display device because its excellent characteristics, including high speed response, full color performance, low power consumption and flux of panel. However changes in the market of display shows that the market will require 3-dimensional images, but it is hard for existing 2-dimensional displays to make 3-dimensional images. Therefore we will try to find various methods such as holograms. In this paper, we will show existing flat displays can make 3-dimensional images by applying Lenticular Screen printing techniques on the organic semiconductor display device.

  • The three-dimensional (3D) changes of bone, soft tissue and the ratio of soft tissue to bony movement was investigated in 8 skeletal Class III patients treated by mandibular setback surgery. CT scans of each patient at pre- and post-operative states were taken. Each scan was segmented by a threshold value and registered to a universal three-dimensional coordinate system, consisting of an FH plane, a mid-sagittal plane, and a coronal plane defined by PNS. In the study, the grid parallel to the coronal plane was proposed for the comparison of the changes. The bone or soft tissue was intersected by the projected line from each point on the gird. The coordinate values of intersected point were measured and compared between the pre- and post-operative models. The facial surface changes after setback surgery occurred not only in the mandible, but also in the mouth corner region. The soft tissue changes of the mandibular area were measured relatively by the proportional ratios to the bone changes. The ratios at the mid-sagittal plane were $77\~102\%(p<0.05)$. The ratios at all other sagittal planes had similar patterns to the mid-sagittal plane, but with decreased values. And, the changes in the maxillary region were calculated as a ratio, relative to the movement of a point representing a mandibular movement. When B point was used as a representative point, the ratios were $14\~29\%$, and when Pog was used, the ratios were $17\~37\%(9<0.05)$. In case of the 83rd point of the grid, the ratios were $11\~22\%(p<0.05)$.

  • The dimensions of die and workpiece are changed continuously during loading, unloading, and ejecting stage. Finally, to predict precisely the dimension of forged part and get the die dimension for the net-shape components, the analysis of die and workpiece should be evaluated from the loading to ejecting. Therefore, the experimental and FEM analysis are peformed to investigate the elastic characteristics at workpiece and die in the closed-die upsetting for ferrous material. FE techniques are proposed to consider the unloading and ejecting stages and estimate more precisely the dimension of forged part and die. The dimensional changes for the workpiece were evaluated quantatively during loading, unloading, and ejecting stages. The strains measured by the strain gages were compared with the estimated values by the FEM.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the exterior remodeling examples of urban houses which have been changed to be mixed-use buildings with commercial use, and to guide the future exterior remodeling. Some of the research results are as follows: 1) Exterior remodeling of commercialized urban detached houses is focused on two-dimensional changes of exterior surface, rather than on three-dimensional changes of mass or shape. 2) Unlike commercial buildings generally relying on signboards to express their commercial nature, the exterior-renovated houses with commercial uses mainly rely on the image of whole building shape based on exterior materials and colors. 3) Installations of free-standing walls and double skins are preferred as exterior remodeling techniques, due to the structural limitation of exterior walls.

  • The flow field inside a cylinder of four-valve Sl engine was investigated quantitatively using a three-dimensional Laser Doppler Velocimetry system, to determine how stroke changes affect the flow field. The purpose of this work was to develop quantitative methods which correlate in-cylinder flows to engine performance. For this study, the sane intake manifold, engine head, cylinder, and the piston were used to examine the flow characteristics in different strokes. Quantification of the flow field was done by calculating three major parameters which are believed to adequately characterize in cylinder motion. These quantities were TKE, tumble and swirl ratios. The LDV results reveal that flow patterns are similar, the flow velocities scale with piston speed but another parameters such as TKE, and tumble and swirl numbers are not the same for different stroke systems.

  • The use of shield is increasing day by day, because it's method is advantageous tunneling method to soft and collapsible ground. In case of analyzing shield tunnel by FEM, short term behavior of ground by initial heaving and tail void closure and long terms of it because of consolidation by changes of pore pressures in clay must be considered. In this paper, the shield tunneling construction stages was analyzed from 2 dimensional elasto - viscoplastic finite element program used Mohr - Coulomb yield criterion but not considered the changes of pore pressures. The object of investigation was N - 2 Tunnel. Since the good results of analysis compared to the measured behavior of ground for heaving, tail void closure and liner installation, this results can be applied to design and construction of shield tunneling for the subways, sewage lines etc.

  • Using industrial robots and sensors, we developed an inline car body inspection system which proposes high flexibility and sufficient accuracy. Car Body Inspection(CBI) cell consists of two industrial robots, two corresponding carriages, camera vision system, a process computer with multi-tasking ability and several LDS's. As industrial robots guarantee sufficient repeatabilities, the CBI cell adopts the concept of relative measurement instead of that of absolute measurement. By comparing the actual measured data with reference data, the dimensional errors of the corresponding points can be calculated. The length of the robot arms changes according to ambient temperature and it affects the measuring accuracy. To compensate this error, a robot arm calibration process was realized. By measuring a reference jig, the differential changes of the robot arms due to temperature fluctuation can be calculated and compensated.

  • The MOSU model, a depth-averaged two-dimensional sediment transport model, is applied to simulate the bed level changes before and after dock construction in Daemyung site. The model is a semi¬coupled finite difference model that can be applied to a river, a reservoir, a lake, estuaries, or coastal regions, The model is able to simulate the transport of fine sand, silt, and clay. The model parameters are estimated by qualitative calibration. A prediction result of the numerical model shows that the bed level changes due to dock construction are little.
