We report on an all-solution-processed hydrothermal method to control the morphology of ZnO nanostructures on Si substrates from three-dimensional hemispherical structures to two-dimensional thin film layers, by controlling the seed layer and the molar contents of surfactants during their primary growth. The size and the density of the seed layer, which is composed of ZnO nanodots, change with variation in the solute concentration. The ZnO nanodots act as heterogeneous nucleation sites for the main ZnO nanostructures. When the seed layer concentration is increased, the ZnO nanostructures change from a hemispherical shape to a thin film structure, formed by densely packed ZnO hemispheres. In addition, the morphology of the ZnO layer is systematically controlled by using trisodium citrate, which acts as a surfactant to enhance the lateral growth of ZnO crystals rather than a preferential one-dimensional growth along the c-direction. X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy results reveal that the ZnO structure is wurtzite and did not incorporate any impurities from the surfactants used in this study.
The liquid fuel film on the cylinder liner is believed to be a major source of engine-out hydrocarbon emissions in SI engines, especially during cold start and warm-up period. Quantifying the liquid fuel film on the cylinder liner is essential to understand the engine-out hydrocarbon emissions formation in SI engines. In this research, two-dimensional visualization was carried out to quantify liquid fuel film on the quartz liner in an SI engine test rig. The visualization was based on laser-induced fluorescence and total reflection. Using a quartz liner and a special lens, only the liquid fuel on the liner was visualized. The calibration technique was developed to quantify the fluorescence signal with the thickness gage and the calibration device. The fluorescence intensity increases linearly with increase in the fuel film thickness on the quartz liner. Using this technique, the distribution of the fuel film thickness on the cylinder liner was measured quantitatively for different valve lifts and injected fuel mass in the test rig.
A numerical study has been performed for the 2-dimensional film cooling employed in the cooling of hot components such as gas turbines. The flow and heat transfer characteristics are numerically simulated using FLUENT software. Blowing ratios vary from 0.25 to 5.0 and coolant injection angles vary from $15^{\circ}\;to\;60^{\circ}\;in\;15^{\circ}$ increment. The result shows that, for all cases, there exists a blowing ratio which maximizes film cooling effect (measured by the distance from the slot exit to the downstream wall location at which temperature increases to 900 K) for a given injection angle. It is also observed that the film cooling effectiveness decreases when downstream wall is sunk or lifted. The simulation has been performed using both constant properties and temperature dependent variable properties. It is found that the cases with constant properties overestimate the film cooling effect considerably.

In this study, the technology to grow oriented nanotube thin film from dip-coated $TiO_2$ using hydrothermal method has been successfully developed. The effects of preparation parameters, such as reaction temperature, duration and post treatment conditions on the film morphologies and the adherence to the substrate, have been examined. A general formation mechanism of oriented titanate nanotube thin film is proposed in terms of the detailed observation of the products via two dimensional surface FESEM studies and HRTEM images. The overall formation of $TiO_2-based$ nanotube thin film can be summarized with three successive steps: (1) $TiO_2$ dissolving and amorphous $Na_2TiO_3$ deposition process; (2) layered $Na_2Ti_3O_7$ formation via spontaneous crystallization and rapid growth process; (3) formation of nanotube thin film via $Na_2Ti_3O_7$ splitting and multilayer scrolling process of (100) planes around the c axis of $Na_2Ti_3O_7$.

<Deep Sea> is an 3D animated film that stands out for its exceptional special effects and distinctive artistic style. The film employs a multitude of dazzling and vibrant ink particles, creating a strong sense of three-dimensionality and weightlessness, while simultaneously portraying a dreamlike and elegant representation of a deep sea ink painting. Furthermore, through the utilization of fragmented stream of consciousness narrative technique, the film establishes a unique artistic effect infused with a Chinese atmosphere. This paper by analyzing the unique particle ink art style and color and stream of consciousness narrative methods in film, this paper discusses the innovative art style generated by traditional ink art style combined with three-dimensional technology, and the integration of traditional ink art ideas and artistic conception in animated films. The objective is to cultivate a new ink art style and prove the importance of traditional cultural expression in animated films, while providing new perspectives for the future application of traditional art in animation.

In this work, we present a unified analytical surface potential model, valid for both PD and FD SOI MOSFETs. Our model is based on a simplified one dimensional and purely analytical approach, and builds upon an existing model, proposed by Yu et al. [4], which is one of the most recent compact analytical surface potential models for SOI MOSFETs available in the literature, to improve its accuracy and remove its inconsistencies, thereby adding to its robustness. The model given by Yu et al. [4] fails entirely in modeling the variation of the front surface potential with respect to the changes in the substrate voltage, which has been corrected in our modified model. Also, [4] produces self-inconsistent results due to misinterpretation of the operating mode of an SOI device. The source of this error has been traced in our work and a criterion has been postulated so as to avoid any such error in future. Additionally, a completely new expression relating the front and back surface potentials of an FD SOI film has been proposed in our model, which unlike other models in the literature, takes into account for the first time in analytical one dimensional modeling of SOI MOSFETs, the contribution of the increasing inversion charge concentration in the silicon film, with increasing gate voltage, in the strong inversion region. With this refinement, the maximum percent error of our model in the prediction of the back surface potential of the SOI film amounts to only 3.8% as compared to an error of about 10% produced by the model of Yu et al. [4], both with respect to MEDICI simulation results.

The existing theoretical models for steady two-dimensional free convective laminar film condensation of pure saturated or superheated vapor under atmospheric pressure on isothermal vertical wall have been reviewed. To investigate the effects such as inertia, thermal convective and liquid-vapor interface shear stress, the models of constant or variable properties in liquid film for condensation of saturated vapor are compared in detail with Nusselt model. Also, for condensation of superheated vapor, the effects of superheated temperature and variable properties in liquid and vapor layers are examined and then a new correlation is proposed to predict the heat transfer. The results are in good agreement with the Shang's correlation within 2% errors.

The thermal analysis of the hot roller in a dry film laminator is studied numerically by steady-state two-dimensional heat transfer. In the laminating process for PDP glass or PCB, the temperature distributions in a hot roller are presented considering the effects of the roller rotation speed and the inner and outer radii of the roller. The results show that the temperature distributions are strongly dependent on Peclet number. If Pe number becomes larger, the iso-thermal lines are more concentric about the rotating axis and the temperature difference on the hot roller surface decreases exponentially. It also shows that if the contact angle between the roller and the film becomes smaller the temperature difference becomes smaller. However, the changes of the rollers inner or outer radius have little effect on the temperature difference.

A three-dimensional constitutive model for polarization switching in ferroelectric materials is used to predict the formation of switching zones in an atomic force microscopy(AFM) tip/ferroelectric thin film/bottom electrode system via finite element simulation. Initially the ferrolectric film is poled upward and the bottom electrode is grounded. A strong dc field is imposed on a fixed point of the top surface of the film through the AFM tip. A small switching zone with downward polarization is nucleated and grows with time. It is found that initially the shape of the switched zone is that of a bulgy dagger, but later turn to the shape of a reversed cup with the lower part wider than the upper part. It can also be concluded that the size of switching zones increases with the period of applied electric potential. The present results are qualitatively consistent with experimental observations.
