A 4-month-old, intact male, Tosa with a history of a regurgitation, vomiting, and weight loss for three weeks was presented to Animal Medical Center, Chonbuk National University. In Serial plain radiographs, a severely distended stomach was seen and ultrasonogram revealed a nonfunctional pylorus with normal layer comparable with an obstruction of pyloric region by pyloric achalasia. An esophagram and endoscopy revealed normal peristalsis with failure of the lower esophageal sphincter to open, supporting the diagnosis of esophageal achalasia. Megaesophagus was observed on reradiograph and esophagram 11 days later. The clinical signs and esophageal dilation were resolved without resorting to any treatment.

An 8-year-old spayed female Maltese (2.5 kg of body weight) presented with the primary complaint of loud heart murmur and exercise intolerance. Diagnostic imaging revealed severe pulmonic stenosis (peak velocity 5.2 m/s) with right ventricular hypertrophy. The dog revisited after 2 years, at which time, diagnostic imaging revealed severe biventricular hypertrophy, dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, left atrial dilation and pulmonary hypertension with worsened pre-existing pulmonic stenosis. Postmortem investigation revealed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and regional myocardial infarction. The case was diagnosed as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy secondary to severe right and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.

A 6-month-old intact male Maltese dog (2.5 kg of body weight) was presented with the primary complaint of heart murmur and exercise intolerance. Diagnostic studies revealed severe pulmonic stenosis. Since the pressure gradient in stenotic pulmonic valve area was higher than 200 mmHg (maximum flow velocity = 7.1 m/s), the dog was underwent balloon valvuloplasty. With this procedure, the peak pulmonic velocity was reduced to 3.0 m/s (PG = 36 mmHg). Periodic re-evaluations performed in monthly interval revealed no further deterioration even after 4 month of procedure. This is the first case report of pulmonic stenosis fixed by non-surgical balloon valvuloplasty in Korea.

Congenital coronary arteriovenous fistula is uncommon disease, and was first described by Krause in 1865. About 20% of the cases, it associates additional congenital heart diseases. A 5-year-old female patient was diagnosed as coronary AV fistula with VSD, and was taken surgical correction under cardiopulmonary bypass. VSD was small and subarterial in type, and the fistula was dilated as adult thumb tip size at its distal portion. VSD was closed directly through the pulmonary arteriotomy and the aneurysmal dilation was opened vertically, then it was obliterated using 5-0, 6-0 prolene continuous suture fashioning into a long slender tube. Postoperative course was uneventful.

A successful repair of aortic dissection of descending thoracic aorta was performed in a 48 year old man. The patient was visited ER because of abruptly onset chest pain. On admission, Chest film showed mediastinal widening and undertaken chest CT, echocardiogram and angiogram There was evidence of dilation on descending aorta with internal separation of intimal calcification. Aneurysmal sac with dissection was noted from just below left subclavian artery to 2cm above of diaphragm. He underwent thoracotomy and the impending ruptured aneurysm of the aorta was replaced with a Woven Dacron graft[20Yo Albumin preclotted] using LA-femoral bypass. Postoperative course was uneventful.

The purpose of this study was to assess the vascular changes after thermophysical therapies using ice pack and ultrasound, investgate the mechanism of peripheral vasodilation by sympathetic nerve, and to observe the effects of the ergotamine to the thermophysical therapy. The author had used 16 healthy rabbits which were divided into 2 groups : with and without administration of ergotamine. Experimental animals were sacrificed 5, 10, 20 minutes after experiment, and were examined with gross and stereoscope of resin casting blood vessel models. The results were as follows : 1. Vasodilation was not remarkably found in the group with administration of egrotamine after thermophysical therapy. 2. Vasodilation was remarkably found in the group without administration of ergotamine after thermophysical therapy. 3. Vasodilation was increased in the group without administration of ergotamine, but not remarkably found in the group with administration of ergotamine in lapse of time 4. Thermophysical therapy was most effective to arterioles. Our data suggest that the dilation of peripheral blood vessels from thermophysical therapy was controlled by sympathetic nerve, because the blood vessels did not changed after administration of ergotamines which was a sympathetic nerve blocker.

일반적으로 방사선 의사들(radialogists)이 폐 결절(pulmonary nodule)을 탐지하는 데는 실제적으로 30% 의 실패율을 가진다고 알려져 있다. 만약 자동화된 시스템이 흉부 영상에서 의심스런 결절들의 위치들을 방사선 의사에게 알려줄 수 있다면 잘못 판단되는 결절들의 수를 잠재적으로 줄일 수 있다. 그리하여 기존의 시스템들은 처리가 어려운 X 선 영상을 좀 더 다루기 쉬운 상태로 바꿔주기 위하여 원래의 영상에 수축(erosion)과 확장(dilation)을 연이어서 행하는 형태학적 필터링(morphological filtering) 처리를 행한다. 그런 다음 결절의 특징을 가려낼 수 있는 추출 기술들을 나름대로 행한다. 그러나, 이 형태학적 필터링 처리는 상당한 처리 시간을 필요로 한다. 이에 본 논문은 형태학적 필터링 처리를 행하지 않고 원래의 흉부 X 선 영상으로부터 직접 결절의 의심지역들을 추출한 후 두가지 특징 추출기술들을 적용시킨다. 그리하여 본 시스템은 결절의 정확한 판독이 어려운 폐의 X 선 영상에 적용되어 false-positive 들을 효과적으로 줄임으로써 보다 효율적인 폐 결절의 추출를 가능하게 하였다.

Endocarditis associated with Escherichia coli was diagnosed in a 2-year-old male sea lion (Zalopus californianus). At necropsy, the heart had biventricular dilation with marked attenuation of the apex. Verrucous, grayish-red, vegetative lesions were present in both the aortic and left AV valves. Several discrete hyperemia-rimmed infarcts were noted in the kidneys. (omitted)

The Pancake graph is node symmetric and useful interconnection network in the field of data sorting algorithm. The Half Pancake graph is a new interconnection network that reduces the degree of the Pancake graph by approximately half and improves the network cost of the Pancake graph. In this paper, we analyze topological properties of the Half Pancake graph $HP_n$. Fist, we prove that $HP_n$ has maximally fault tolerance and recursive scalability. In addition, we show that in $HP_n$, there are isomorphic graphs of low-dimensional $HP_n$. Also, we propose that the Bubblesort $B_n$ can be embedded into Half Pancake $HP_n$ with dilation 5, expansion 1. These results mean that various algorithms designed for the Pancake graph and the Bubble sort graph can be executed on $HP_n$ efficiently.

본 논문은 그레이 영상에 대해 모폴로지 기법과 스플라인 보간법을 적용하여 영상 모핑을 실현한 연구이다. 모핑기법은 모핑 할 그레이 영상을 모폴로지 기법의 팽창으로 작은 끊김을 연결하고, 홀을 제거시킴으로서 영상 경계를 부드럽게 하고, 큐빅 스플라인으로 보간하여 특징 점을 추출하는 방법을 적용하였다. 실험 결과 처리시간단축과 보다 세밀하고 자연스러운 모핑 영상의 변환이 이뤄졌다.
