A Research for Digital Literacy Education Methodlogies based on Mobile Devices (모바일 기기 기반의 디지털 리터러시 교육 방안에 대한 연구)

  • The computing environment is rapidly changing to mobile device base, with the development of computer technology. Until now, digital literacy education has been based on desktop PC education, but it is time to change it into literacy education suitable for mobile environment. In this paper, we propose a mobile-based digital literacy MoDL (Mobile Device Digital Literacy). MoDL proposes three phases. One is Mobile Based Digital Environment (MoDE), which builds a mobile digital environment, seconds is Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) class method when using it for education. Finally, MoDLI (MoDL Instruction) for learning mobile literacy is presented step by step. To verify the validity of the proposed, eight experts were surveyed so that the Content Validity Ratio was calculated. As a result, CVR was ensured in all items except for the applicability of MoDLI.

A Study of the Current Status of Older Adults' Digital Literacy Programs in Public Libraries and Improvement Plans (공공도서관 노인 디지털 리터러시 프로그램 현황 및 개선방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the operation status of digital literacy programs for the elderly in public libraries and to understand the perception of librarians in charge of the programs in order to suggest plans to improve them in Korean public libraries. To this end, this study performed the following: first, the status of digital literacy programs in 157 public libraries across Korea was examined and analyzed. Second, digital literacy programs provided for older adults by overseas public libraries were explored. Third, an online survey was conducted with 92 librarians in charge of library programs at Korean public libraries. Based on the results, this study suggested plans to improve older adults' digital literacy programs in public libraries in terms of operational and content aspects. This study is expected to provide basic data for the operation of older adults' digital literacy programs in Korean public libraries.

  • Our society is developing exponentially, but schools are not keeping up with the pace of society's development, and they are not providing digital literacy education suitable for the growth and development of students. Thus, this study identified the actual conditions and problems of digital literacy education at school sites and sought the direction of development of digital literacy education. By identifying the current state of schools in which the 2015 curriculum is operated, we sought the direction of the development of digital literacy education for our school. First, old digital devices should be replaced, laptops or smart devices should be provided for each student, and internet access should be available throughout the school. Second, digital literacy education should be provided to teachers by providing various training opportunities.Third, coding education where you can express what you think as logical thinking, Software training should increase the level of the algorithmic domain that shows the computational thinking process of discovering problems and automating a given problem into a computer programming language, there is enough robot that can be seen operating the program, digital parish will need to be delivered.

A Study on the Development of Media Information Literacy Concept and Educational Contents (미디어정보 리터러시 개념과 교육내용 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to define the concept of media information literacy and to develop educational content. To achieve the purpose of the study, literature analysis, interviews with field experts, and surveys with teacher librarians were conducted. The field experts recognized the media as a tool to use information and recognized information problem-solving skills, reading comprehension ability, media functions, case activities, and affective domain as the areas of media information literacy education. The teacher-librarians thought that information and media literacy which include its competency and educational content are more important than the digital literacy. As a result of the study, the concept of media information literacy was defined as knowledge, skills, and attitudes including the concepts of literacy, media literacy, information literacy, and digital literacy. In addition, educational contents of media information literacy were developed so that 'participation in democratic society', 'classification of media tools and contents', 'basic human rights', 'skills', 'digital tool manipulation' and 'information problem solving process' can be combined and applied in context.

The Mediating Effect of Self-efficacy between the Elderly's Digital Information Literacy and Life Satisfaction (노인의 디지털 정보활용능력과 삶의 만족도의 관계에서 자기효능감의 매개효과 분석)

  • This study examined the mediating effects of self-efficacy on the relationships between digital information literacy and life satisfaction among the elderly. For this study, data were gathered from 396 adults over the age of 60 years in a welfare center for senior citizens in D Metropolitan City. Hierarchical regression analysis was performed to verify the mediating effects of self-efficacy on the relationship between digital information literacy and life satisfaction of the elderly. The analysis showed that the digital information literacy and self-efficacy were positively correlated. Moreover, higher digital information literacy had a positive effect on self-efficacy. Furthermore, the level of information literacy using digital devices had a positive effect on their life satisfaction. Therefore, the satisfaction of life in old age is increased by the medium of self-efficacy. Based on these findings, several measures for improving digital information literacy were discussed.

Digital Literacy of Middle School Students for Informatics Education (정보 교육을 위한 중학생의 디지털 리터러시 수준 분석)

  • In order for effective informatics education it is premisd that students have digital literacy. But the absence of informatics education for about 10 years has make students have low digital literacy, and as a result, there are many voices in the school field that it is difficult to have a smooth class. Therefore in this study, the elements of digital literacy required to efficiently operate the 2015 middle school informatics curriculum and digital literacy of middle school students was analyzed. As a result, the students showed biased use of the computing devices and software the frequently use. They were inexperienced in using hardware necessary for learning, understanding basic terms for online collaboration, understanding operating systems, information searching, and producing documents. This study is meaningful in that it provides basic data that serves as a guideline for the direction of digital literacy education for effective informatics education.

A Study on the Digital Literacy of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 디지털리터러시에 관한 연구)

  • This study is a descriptive research study to confirm the digital literacy of nursing students and to understand the relationship between communication ability and self-efficacy. From March 15, 2022 to April 30, 2022, this study was conducted with 204 nursing students located in D city. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS 22.0. Digital literacy and self-efficacy (r=.394, p<.001), digital literacy and communication ability (r=.567, p<.001) showed a significant positive correlation. Among the sub-factors of digital literacy, all factors except compliance ability showed a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and communication ability. Therefore, it is judged that this study will be used as basic data for digital literacy education of nursing students by identifying the digital literacy of nursing students and confirming the relationship between communication ability and self-efficacy.

Influence of Digital Literacy and Academic Self-Efficacy on Problem-Solving Competence in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 디지털 리터러시와 학업적 자기효능감이 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This is a descriptive survey research aimed at investigating the level of digital literacy and verifying the impact of digital literacy and academic self-efficacy on problem solving in nursing students, with fousing on digital literacy, which is emerging in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Data were collected between April and May 2022 from 118 nursing students at a university located in K City, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, two-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression with the SPSS 18.0 program. The results showed that nursing students generally have good digital literacy, but they struggle with specific areas like material development and information evaluation. Nursing students' digital literacy (β=.311, p=.001), followed by academic self-efficacy (β=.184, p=.048), had a significant impact on problem-solving ability (F=12.237, p< .001), as explanaing 16.1% of the variation. To improve nursing students' digital literacy and problem solving, developing a more structured and situation-oriented nursing education curriculum is needed.

Analysis of Korean Adults' News Literacy Level: Focusing on News Use Behavior Based on Digital Media (우리나라 성인들의 뉴스 리터러시 수준 분석: 디지털 미디어를 기반으로 한 뉴스 이용 행태를 중심으로)

  • The shift to the digital media era is increasing the importance of the ability to accept, produce and share news through digital media(news literacy), but there is a lack of diagnosis of the level of news literacy among Korean adults and discussions on how to improve news literacy. This study analyzed the news literacy level of Korean adults according to background variables (urbanization degree, gender, age, academic background) and examined the relationship between the amount of news literacy-related practices and the level of news literacy. The results showed that the overall level of news literacy among adults in Korea was not high and that differences between groups were also statistically significant. The significant relevance between the amount of news literacy-related practices and the level of news literacy has also been identified. Based on the findings, it was suggested that the need for policy support to improve news literacy among Korean adults, the need to prioritize the resources of news literacy education according to background variables of adult learners, and the need to continuously monitor news literacy levels of Korean adults.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the items related to digital reading and information literacy which were measured by PIAAC and PISA, to examine the measurement contents and methods of these literacy items, and to derive the implications for providing reading and information services for librarians at public libraries and teacher librarians. In order to solve the questions measuring digital reading literacy and digital information literacy, respondents commonly needed ICT skills as well as cognitive strategies. However, in digital reading literacy measurement items, the ability to comprehend and critically think about texts was emphasized. And in digital information literacy measurement items, the ability to use ICT skills, navigate, and evaluate whether or not to read the retrieved text was emphasized. Librarians and teacher librarians need to encourage readers to read and provide a customized competencies improvement program to reflect the performance results and characteristics of a particular group. And It is also necessary to improve and develop the library environment so that library user can understand and use library search system and the Korean decimal classification.
