  • Mobile games have emerged as the most innovative entertainment technology, adding new revenue streams, taking advantage of the potential of wireless applications and service offerings. Mobile games, as well as PC games, Video games and online games, offer a unique value for users in providing an exciting digital experience in virtual worlds. The overall trend for mobile games is towards bigger, more colorful, more involving and exciting contents, which might build upon the developing capabilities of mobile phones and networks, in order to bring new styles, concepts and experiences of game play to the users. In this paper, we investigate the factors influencing the usage and acceptance of the mobile games, based on the extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Based on data collected from online survey, we show that perceived usefulness, ease of use are the major determinants for mobile game users to play games. Four factors, including ease of use, self-expressiveness, visibility, and innovativeness are empirically shown to determine the level of perceived usefulness; additionally, innovativeness and facilitating conditions are shown to directly affect ease of use. Based upon the statistical results, some useful guidelines for game development and market penetration strategies are also provided.

  • Combustion phenomena in a sub-millimeter scale combustor have been investigated. To evaluate scale effect on flame propagation characteristics, a cylindrical combustion chamber with variable depth was built in-house. The combustor was charged with premixed gas of hydrogen and air and ignited electronically. A piezo electric pressure transducer recorded transient pressure after the ignition. Measurements were made at different test conditions specified with chamber depth and initial pressure as parameters. Visual observation was made through a quartz glass window on top side of the combustion chamber using high speed digital video camera. From the pressure data, available work was estimated and compared with energy input required for stable ignition. The preliminary results suggested that the net thermal energy release is sufficient to generate power and enables a combustor of the size in the present study to be used as the energy source of a micro power devices .

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the behavioral changes of laying hens in an aviary system. In this study, 500 laying hens (Hyline brown) were held in an aviary system in a open-type poultry house. The behaviors of laying hens were recorded using CCD cameras and a digital video recorder. The data were scanned every 2 min to obtain an instantaneous behavioral sample. In the behaviors of laying hens, 'Feeding' and 'Drinking' increased from 3 d placing chick and stabilized after 5 d placing chick. 'Perching' increased from 19:00 to 05:00, while 'Nest visiting' increased from 06:00 to 18:00. 'Aggressive behavior' decreased gradually after 5 d placing chick. These results suggest that the behaviors of laying hens are changed rapidly for about 5 days after placing chick and the behaviors of the laying hens are almost stabilized at 5 d placing chick.

  • This study was conducted to investigate behavioral changes in laying hens (Hy-Line Brown) after transfer to a multi-tier system from the floor system and to examine their production performance. The hens were randomly divided into two groups and were allocated to the multi-tier system and the floor system at a commercial farm. Behavior of the laying hens was recorded by CCD (charge-coupled device) cameras and a digital video recorder. The data were scanned every 2 min to obtain an instantaneous behavioral sample or were immediately counted whenever the hens exhibited a designated behavior. Behavior changed dramatically during the first seven days. Egg production was higher in the multi-tier system, while cracked and dirty eggs were more frequent in the floor system (p < 0.05). No differences in mortality rate or egg quality were observed between the groups. In conclusion, the hens needed at least seven days to adapt to the multi-tier system. The multi-tier system was more efficient than the floor system in terms of production performance.

  • The main attractant of portable multimedia player(PMP), is often their versatility : being able to load and play different formats of video, audio, digital images, and interactive media. In this paper, we investigate the factors influencing the usage the PMP, based on the extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model. Using the data collected from online survey, we show that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived enjoyment are the major determinants for using PMP. Factors, including ubiquitousness, community, and image are shown to directly or indirectly determine the level of perceived usefulness and ease of uses. In addition, we classify PMP users into two groups, users seeking hedonic value and utilitarian value, and examine the differences in path coefficients. Properties of the causal paths, including standardized path coefficients, the significance of difference, in the hypothesized model, are also presented, so that we can investigate the relative influences of different dominants, demonstrating how two groups differ in their decision-making processes regarding the PMP usage.

  • In RTM process, the content of microvoids can be critical due to the fact that the presence of microvoids degrades mechanical properties on the fabricated composite parts. The present paper proposes an experimental method of observation in void formation and transport. VARTM processes are performed under observation with a digital video camera and then the microvoid formation in the flow front and transport are videotaped and observed both in channels and tows. The obtained data are used in the mathematical model in order to determine the model constants. Experimental results and expected results from the mathematical model show a good agreement with each other.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method to detect abrupt and gradual shot transitions of video data by using certainty factors. The abrupt transitions denotes cuts and the gradual transitions fade in, fade out, dissolve, horizontal wipes, vertical wipes, Barn Doors, and Iris Rounds. The suggested method first extracts representative features for each shot transition and determines corresponding shot transitions by integrating all the extracted features and inferring adequate transitions. To verify the performance of the proposed shot transition method, experimental results show that the suggested method can detect shot transitions more accurately than existing methods.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze women's street fashion in Shenyang and to understand the regional design preference. The city, Shenyang is not only known as the one of three major northeastern province in China, but also known as the city where large numbers of Korean fashion companies have launched in. The observation focused mainly on young/young adults and missy in Oe Market and ZungJie(中街) which are the most busy streets in Shenyang. A digital camera or a camcorder were used to take photos of these women. In addition, video captures or photos were analyzed by three fashion experts. Finally, the photos were classified by item and data was coded for statistics and reviewed through frequency and percentage. As a result, it was found that most young women in Shenyang liked to wear a casual style such as easy t-shirt, denim pants or skirt and a feminine style such as a one-piece dress in summer. Top items that were favoured by young women in Shenyang were t-shirts and blouse types, while they favoured to wear denim pants of indigo blue for bottom items. Frequently found colors among these womens' clothing were white, black, vivid blue, red and red purple. I strongly believe this study will provide basic but significant information for the establishment of design and marketing strategies to the Korean fashion brands, who is trying to access Chinese fashion market.

  • Image treatment is becoming mainstream as the demand for image restoration has drastically increased in the digital era. But in the process of acquiring, transmitting and treating video data, the salt and pepper noise damages the image. One of the major methods used for restoring images are SMF(standard median filter), CWMF(center weighted median filter) and SWMF(switching weighted median filter), but these filters all leave a bit to be desired in terms of removing noise and preserving edge. Therefore, a transformed median filter is suggested through the algorithm presented for the restoration of damaged images.

  • Purpose: This qualitative study aimed to explore the experiences of patients with diabetes provided with medication monitoring using an artificial intelligence-based smartwatch. Methods: Giorgi's descriptive phenomenological methodology was applied to collect and analyze data from November 9 to December 23, 2021. The study samples were recruited by convenience sampling, and even patients with diabetes participated in in-depth interviews via video conference and telephone calls or face-to-face visits. Results: Ten sub-themes and four themes were finally revealed. The four themes were as follows: journey with unfamiliar devices, a less-than-acceptable smartwatch, insufficient functions and content for patients with diabetes to use, and efforts for regular medication behaviors and daily monitoring of patient's health conditions. Conclusion: To effectively manage diabetic conditions using digital healthcare technologies, nursing interventions were needed to identify personal needs and consider technological, psychological, aesthetic, and socioeconomic aspects of wearable devices.
