Development of Interface for Displaying a Digital Still Picture on DTV (디지털 카메라 출력의 DTV 접속을 위한 인터페이스 개발)

  • 최근에 국내에서도 DTV 시험방송을 하고 있고 고해상도의 DTV 수상기도 개발되고 있다. DTV 수상기는 기본적인 TV 기능에 다양한 멀티미디어 기능을 더해 멀티미디어 단말기로서 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다. 이러한 DTV 수상기가 다양한 멀티미디어 인터페이스를 갖도록 하는 것은 기본 요구 사항이 될 것이다. 이중에 최근에 널리 보급되고 있는 디지털 카메라의 출력을 DTV 수상기를 이용하여 디스플레이 하는 것은 필수적인 기능이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 정지영상을 DTV 수상기에 디스플레이 하는 기능은 DTV set-top에서 Monitor를 통한 OSD(On Screen Display)에 적용할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 JPEG 포맷의 정지영상 파일을 MPEG-2와 호환되는 파일로 변환하여 DTV 수상기에 출력하는 시스템을 개발하였다 Windows 환경에서GUI(Graphic User Interface)를 통해 JPEG Image를 디코딩 하여 영상의 픽셀 정보를 복원한 후에 다시 MPEG-2로 압축하여Transport Stream으로 변환하고. 이 stream을 PCI Card를 이용하여 VSB modulator의 요구 타이밍에 맞추어 LVDS 레벨로 출력하도록 하였다.

  • In recent years, vision sensors are widely used to mobile robot for navigation or exploration. The analog signal transmission of visual data being used in this area, however, has some disadvantages including noise weakness in view of the data storage. A large amount of data also makes it difficult to use this method for a mobile robot. In this paper, a digital data compressing technology based on MPEG4 which substitutes for analog technology is proposed to overcome the disadvantages by using DWT(Discreate Wavelet Transform) instead of DCT(Discreate Cosine Transform). The TI Company's DSP chip, TMS320C6711, is used for the image encoder, and the performance of the proposed method is evaluated by PSNR(Peake Signal to Noise Rates), QP(Quantization Parameter) and bitrate.

  • Unsaturated soil can describe soil particles, air-water and contact face between air and water. The providing a simple method to predict water content in Geotechnical mechanics is very important. In this experiment, DIP (Digital Image Processing) and electrical resistivity techniques were used simultaneously to predict the saturation degree, and the results of two techniques will be compared each other to get conclusion. The experiment was carried out for Jumunjin standard sand. The picture of experimental column of soil and water was taken at different times, then using DIP technique to measure Color number-the height of capillary in soil column. At the same time, measure electrical resistivity of the soil.

  • Such as closed caption, ancillary data, electronic program guide(EPG), data broadcasting, and etc, increased data for service convenience cause to degrade video quality of high definition contents. This article propose a method to transfer the closed caption data of video contents without video quality degradation. Video quality degradation does not cause in video compression by the block image insertion of caption data in DTV essential hidden area. Additionally the proposed methods have advantage to synchronize video, audio, and caption from preinserted script without time delay.

  • Nowadays, many satellites regularly produce digital multispectral images of the earth's surface. Multispectral images may be displayed as color pictures by selecting three components for assignment to the primary colors. It is desired to enhance these images to generate a display picture that are representativde of their features. in this paper, a false color image processing algorithm is proposed for the purpose of enchancement of the multispectral images based on the human perception. The mean of each primary component is transformed to equalo. Intensity and saturation are enhanced by modified piecewise linear contrast strectching and saturation enhancement method. The proposed method has been successfully applied the LANDSAT TM image and shows good enhancement.

  • Digital watermarking is the technique, which embeds an invisible signal including signal including owner identification and copy control information into multimedia data such as audio, video, and images for copyright protection. A new MPEG watermark embedding algorithm using complex block effect based on the Human Visual System(HVS) is introduced in this paper. In this algorithm, $8{\times}8$ dark blocks are selected, and the watermark is embedded in the DC component of the discrete cosine transform(DCT) by using quantization and modulus calculation. This algorithm uses a blind watermark retrieval technique, which detects the embedded watermark without using the original image. The experimental results show that the proposed watermark technique is robust against MPEG coding, bitrate changes, and various GOP(Group of Picture) changes.

  • 통신기술과 의료장비의 발달은 환자에 대한 의료혜택의 기회를 확대하고, 최상의 의료서비스를 제공하려는 병원들에 있어서 전산 시스템은 빼놓을 수 없는 병원내 주요 기반시설로서 등장하게 되었다. 멀티미디어 기술과 정보통신의 발달은 의료분야의 정보화 및 자동화 기술 발전에 커다란 영향을 주어 의료 영상 및 각종 의료정보를 고속의 네트워킹 올 통해 전송할 수 있는 PACS(Picture Archiving and Communications System)의 개발을 가능하게 하였다. 본 논문에서는 무선네트워크의 발달과 PDA(Personal Digital Assistants)의 보편화에 따라 PDA를 이용하여 HIS(Hospital Information System)/RIS(Radiology Information System)/PACS의 자료를 검색 및 갱신할 수 있도록 설계하고, 현재 병원의 데이터베이스와 PDA의 연동이 가능하도록 병원관리 에이전트를 분석 및 설계하였다.

  • 최근 스마트 디바이스를 통한 일인형 미디어 소비의 증가와 초 고화질 미디어 서비스를 위한 획득, 압축, 전송 및 재현 관련 기술이 발전함에 따라, VR(Virtual reality) 미디어는 사용자에게 높은 몰입감과 현장감을 제공할 수 있는 차세대 미디어 형태중 하나로 거론되고 있다. 이러한 VR 미디어 시장에서의 요소기술 선점을 위해 MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group), 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project), DVB(Digital Video Droadcasting)와 같은 세계 유력 표준화 단체에서는 관련 기술검토 및 유스케이스 수집 등을 포함한 표준화 준비를 활발히 진행하고 있다. 본고에서는 상기 표준화 단체들의 표준화 동향을 살펴보고, 이를 통해 관련 핵심 요소기술들의 연구 개발 현황을 확인하고자 한다.

The Engineering Characteristics of Seismicity of Korean Peninsula in 2000 (2000년도 한반도 지진활동의 공학적 특성)

  • Several seismic traces of earthquakes observed from the digital new type seismograph instruments of KMA in 2000 were scanned. From these, good quality data which have high signal/noise ratio were selected and they were transformed into ascii data from binary data(min-seed format). The hypo71 program and P-S was applied in order to determine the location of epicenter, origin time and the magnitude. From these data, the 29 earthquakes, 358 seismic records consist of 587 directional components were calculated. Using these, ground acceleration data, acceleration, velocity, and displacemnet response spectrums of the structures were calculated and they could be represented in a picture by the form of tripartite response spectrum. In the result, response spectrums of the 587 directional components of the above seismic data records were obtained respectively.

  • Significant attention has recently been drawn to digital home photo albums that use face detection technology. The tendency can be found in home photo albums that people prefer to allocate concerned objects in the center of the image rather than the boundary when they take a picture. To improve detection performance and speed that are important factors of face detection task, this paper proposes a face detection method that takes spatial context information into consideration. Experiments were performed to verify the usefulness of the proposed method and results indicate that the proposed face detection method can efficiently reduce the false positive rate as well as the runtime of face detection.
