Image Quality Assessment by Combining Masking Texture and Perceptual Color Difference Model

  • Objective image quality assessment (IQA) models have been developed by effective features to imitate the characteristics of human visual system (HVS). Actually, HVS is extremely sensitive to color degradation and complex texture changes. In this paper, we firstly reveal that many existing full reference image quality assessment (FR-IQA) methods can hardly measure the image quality with contrast and masking texture changes. To solve this problem, considering texture masking effect, we proposed a novel FR-IQA method, called Texture and Color Quality Index (TCQI). The proposed method considers both in the masking effect texture and color visual perceptual threshold, which adopts three kinds of features to reflect masking texture, color difference and structural information. Furthermore, random forest (RF) is used to address the drawbacks of existing pooling technologies. Compared with other traditional learning-based tools (support vector regression and neural network), RF can achieve the better prediction performance. Experiments conducted on five large-scale databases demonstrate that our approach is highly consistent with subjective perception, outperforms twelve the state-of-the-art IQA models in terms of prediction accuracy and keeps a moderate computational complexity. The cross database validation also validates our approach achieves the ability to maintain high robustness.

사이버 저작권윤리(Cyber Copyright Ethics)의 수용에 관한 연구: 영향요인도출 (Factors Influencing Cyber Copyright Ethics Reception and Policy Alternatives in Digital Convergence Era)

  • 본 연구는 디지털융합시대 사이버 저작권윤리(cyber copyright ethics)의 수용에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. 저작권윤리의 확보는 저작권을 적절히 수용하는지의 여부에 의해 결정되는 것으로 보았다. 관련이론과 문헌검토를 통해 인간-기술-내용-문화(human-technology-contents-culture, HTCoC)의 4가지 요인이 저작권 윤리의 수용에 영향을 미치는 것으로 모형을 구성하였으며, LISREL을 통해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 본 연구에서 제시된 연구모형이 통계적으로 의미가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 우선 저작권의 윤리를 수용하기 위해서는 일정한 주관적 규범을 가지고 있어야 하며, 인터넷매체라는 기술적 한계를 보완하면서, 동시에 저작권문화의 형성이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 특히 저작권 문화는 저작권윤리의 확립에 있어 매개변수로서 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 논문말미에는 분석결과를 기초로 정책적 함의를 제시하였다. 결국 건전하고 지속 가능한 저작권보호를 위해서는 저작권윤리의 정착을 통해 저작권의 침해행위가 최소화되어져야 하고, 동시에 체계적인 정책노력을 통해 디지털융합시대의 역기능을 억제하는 것이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

해상운송분야의 디지털 전환 성공요인에 대한 우선순위 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Priority Evaluation of the Success Factors for Digital Transformation in Maritime Transport Sector)

  • 본 연구의 목적을 구체적으로 기술하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 해상운송분야에서의 디지털 전환이 무엇인 지에 대한 정의를 내리고자 한다. 둘째, 디지털 전환과 관련된 다양한 선행연구를 검토하여 해상운송분야의 디지털 전환에 대한 성공요인을 도출하고자 한다. 마지막으로 도출된 성공요인들에 대한 우선 순위를 도출하기 위하여 AHP 분석 모형을 구축하고 해상운송분야 실무 전문가들을 대상으로 전문가 설문조사를 실시한다. 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로 해상운송분야의 디지털 전환의 성공요인들 중 우선적으로 고려해야 할 요인들이 무엇인지 가이드라인을 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 해상운송분야 디지털 전환을 위한 성공요인의 우선순위를 도출하기 위하여 4개의 상위 평가항목(전략요인, 조직문화 및 인적요인, 기술요인, 환경요인)과 21개의 하위 평가항목으로 계층구조를 설정하였고 AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process)기법 중에서 항목들의 가중치를 매기는 상대적 평가방법을 적용하였다. 해상운송분야 관련 대학교수, 연구단체, 해운회사, 컨테이너터미널, 해상운송 관련 IT업체에 종사하는 전문가들을 통해서 수집된 설문지 중에서 정보의 정확도를 높이기 위하여 일관성 비율을 0.1이하인 24부의 설문을 대상으로 AHP 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 해상운송분야 디지털 전환의 성공요인에 대한 제1계층 요인들의 우선순위는 전략요인, 조직문화 및 인적요인, 기술요인, 환경요인 순으로 나타났다. 또한 21개의 세부항목에 대한 우선순위를 살펴보면 새로운 비즈니스 모델 개발, 적극적인 미래 디지털 전략의 조성, 최고디지털 책임자의 리더십 등이 높게 나타났다.

  • In robotics and other fields of engineering, techniques for artificial reality or virtual reality are focused on and studied extensively, e.g., virtual existence for tele-operator systems in robotics, and virtual reality of designed objects in architecture. In order to realize the system we should create physical stimulations according to internal models created by experiences in a human brain. The internal model does not have to have direct connections to the real world, however, the stimulation must be signals such that the internal model are retrieved in a human brain. In this paper we propose a technique for tele-virtual reality of dynamic mechanical models, which means that one dynamic mechanical model can be shared by peoples in distant places. Since a stability issue due to time delays arises in the system, we employed a scattering technique developed for a tele-operator system and a kind of passive adaptive controllers. Furthermore, restrictions due to a simple digital implementation of the scattering transformation are discussed and some conditions for stability are shown. The proposed method is applied to a remote tug of war system and the effectiveness is verified.

Determinants of Live Commerce Acceptance: Focusing on the Extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)

  • Live Commerce is rapidly emerging as a new paradigm for the digital economy and consumption activities in the post-COVID era. Many prior studies have been conducted on Live Commerce, but studies focusing on the characteristics of sources of Live Commerce are insufficient. This study aimed to investigate the human factors of sources that affect consumers' intention to use Live Commerce. For this purpose, based on an expanded TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) through literature research, variables were set, and a survey was conducted targeting Korean consumers who have experienced purchasing products through Live Commerce. Excluding unreliable data, 201 responses were utilized in the analysis of this study. At first, the measurement tools were checked through validity and reliability verification, and correlation analysis was conducted to identify the relationships between variables. Then, the proposed hypotheses were verified through multiple regression analysis. As a result, firstly, the human factors of sources had a positive effect on PU (Perceived Usefulness). Secondly, the PEOU (perceived ease of use) had a positive effect on both PU and CS (Consumer Satisfaction). Thirdly, PU had a positive effect on CS and ITU (Intention to Use). Finally, CS with Live Commerce had a positive effect on the ITU. Through this study, we try to provide an understanding of consumer behavior in the Live Commerce environment and contribute to enhancing the service provider's ability to offer high-quality Live Commerce content.

농촌마을의 중심성 평가 모형의 개발 (II) - 자료조사 및 GIS분석을 통한 모형의 적용 - (Development of a Potential Centrality Evaluation Model for Rural villages ( II ) - Application of model by Survey of villages and Analysis using GIS -)

  • The purpose of this paper, the 2nd stage of this study. is to test the applicability of the potential centrality evaluation model (PCEM) to a case study area. To verify the practical applicabilities of the PCEM, an administrative area of Ucheon-myeon, Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon-do was selected as a study area. Full data on the human environments of total 72 villages within the study area were surveyed. Data on the natural environments were collected through GIS analysis from digital maps developed far this study. The highest PCI (Potential Centrality Index) score was shown at Uhang village of which one being 841 (total score being 1,000), the real single center village of the study area. The evaluation results on potential centeralities of all the villages in the study area would provide decision-makers with more precised information for selection of center villages for development project.

Visual Dynamics Model for 3D Text Visualization

  • Text has evolved along with the history of art as a means of communicating human intentions and emotions. In addition, text visualization artworks have been combined with the social form and contents of new media to produce social messages and related meanings. Recently, in text visualization artworks combined with digital media, communication forms with viewers are changing instantly and interactively, and viewers are actively participating in creating artworks by direct engagement. Interactive text visualization with additional viewer's interaction, generates external dynamics from text shapes and internal dynamics from embedded meanings of text. The purpose of this study is to propose a visual dynamics model to express the dynamics of text and to implement a text visualization system based on the model. It uses the deconstruction of the imaged text to create an interactive text visualization system that reacts to the gestures of the viewer in real time. Visual Transformation synchronized with the intentions of the viewer prevent the text from remaining in the interpretation of language symbols and extend the various meanings of the text. The visualized text in various forms shows visual dynamics that interpret the meaning according to the cultural background of the viewer.

An Optimized Model for the Local Compression Deformation of Soft Tissue

  • Due to the long training time and high training cost of traditional surgical training methods, the emerging virtual surgical training method has gradually replaced it as the mainstream. However, the virtual surgical system suffers from poor authenticity and high computational cost problems. For overcoming the deficiency of these problems, we propose an optimized model for the local compression deformation of soft tissue. This model uses a simulated annealing algorithm to optimize the parameters of the soft tissue model to improve the authenticity of the simulation. Meanwhile, although the soft tissue deformation is divided into local deformation region and non-deformation region, our proposed model only needs to calculate and update the deformation region, which can improve the simulation real-time performance. Besides, we define a compensation strategy for the "superelastic" effect which often occurs with the mass-spring model. To verify the validity of the model, we carry out a compression simulation experiment of abdomen and human foot and compare it with other models. The experimental results indicate the proposed model is realistic and effective in soft tissue compression simulation, and it outperforms other models in accuracy and real-time performance.

A Comparison of the Effects of Worker-Related Variables on Process Efficiency in a Manufacturing System Simulation

  • Purpose: The goal of this study was to build an accurate digital factory that evaluates the performance of a factory using computer simulation. To achieve this goal, we evaluated the effect of worker-related variables on production in a simulation model using comparative analysis of two cases. Methods: The overall work process and worker-related variables were determined and used to build a simulation model. Siemens PLM Software's Plant Simulation was used to build a simulation model. Also, two simulation models were built, where the only difference was the use of the worker-related variable, and the total daily production analyzed and compared in terms of the individual process. Additionally, worker efficiency was evaluated based on worker analysis. Results: When the daily production of the two models were compared, a 0.16% error rate was observed for the model where the worker-related variables were applied and error rate was approximately 5.35% for the model where the worker-related variables were not applied. In addition, the production in the individual processes showed lower error rate in the model that included the worker-related variables than the model where the worker-related variables were not used. Also, among the total of 22 workers, only three workers satisfied the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) suggested worker capacity rate (90%). Conclusions: In the daily total production and individual process production, the model that included the worker-related variables produced results that were closer to the real production values. This result indicates the importance of worker elements as input variables, in regards to building accurate simulation models. Also, as suggested in this study, the model that included the worker-related variables can be utilized to analyze in more detail actual production. The results from this study are expected to be utilized to improve the work process and worker efficiency.

  • We, Human beings, use both powers of reason and emotion simultaneously, which surely help us to obtain flexible adaptability against the dynamic environment. We assert that this principle can be applied into the general system. That is, it would be possible to improve the adaptability by covering a digital oriented information processing system with analog oriented emotion layer. In this paper, we proposed a vertical slicing model with an emotion layer in it. And we showed that the emotion-based control allows us to improve the adaptability of a system at least under some conditions.
