  • In this paper, we propose a method of trigger pulse generation to capture the image on time by making a synchronization between the x-ray generator and digital x-ray image acquisition system. we designed a wireless trigger pulse generation circuit to make a synchronization between x-ray generator and digital image acquisition system and analysis its performance. When it starts to detect a certain level of x-ray radiation or above from the air, this method starts to generate a ACQ_START signal to indicate the timing for image acquisition starting from digital image acquisition system. Hence, when it starts to detect under certain level of x-ray signal from the air, this method starts to generate a ACC_END signal to indicate the timing for image acquisition stop from digital image acquisition system. Image acquisition is activated only this time between ACQ_START and ACQ_END signal. By doing this wireless detecting of x-ray signal from remote, we can get more accurate timing for capturing the x-ray image and any type of x-ray generator can be connected to digital image acquisition system, regards of wired protocol. This makes easy installation. We could get 3.5 line pair / mm resolution at 20 mAs of x-ray level with resolution chart. This is same or better image comparing to conventional wired result.

  • We developed a low cost digital X-Ray image capturing system using a CCD camera, instead of using the high cost image plate and image intensifier. In order to reduce the system volume, we directly made the dark box shorter than the previous model. Using the graphic language, we developed a program in order for post-processing the images captured by the CCD camera. This program improves the image resolving power.

  • The Film X-ray and the CCD method of current medical image system have the disadvantages such as required large place and diagnosis time. In this paper, we implement an effective medical image system using TXT-DXD method's digital X-ray detector(DR1000C). The implemented medical image system has advantages of placing efficiency and short diagnosis time. In order to make the image out of the system more effective, we develop an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) control driver, having the resolution of 1900*1200. And we propose an enhancement unsharp masking method to update image enhancement of DR1000C medical image system, and compare it with the current methods.

  • Digital radiographic systems allow the implementation of a fully digital picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and provide the greater dynamic range of digital detectors with possible reduction of X-ray exposure to the patient. This article reviewed the basic physical principles of digital radiographic imaging system in dental clinics generally. Digital radiography can be divided into computed radiography (CR) and direct radiography (DR). CR systems acquire digital images using phosphor storage plates (PSP) with a separate image readout process. On the other hand, DR systems convert X-rays into electrical charges by means of a direct readout process. DR systems can be further divided into direct and indirect conversion systems depending on the type of X-ray conversion. While a direct conversion requires a photoconductor that converts X-ray photons into electrical charges directly, in an indirect conversion, lightsensitive sensors such as CCD or a flat-panel detector convert visible light, proportional to the incident X-ray energy by a scintillator, into electrical charges. Indirect conversion sensors using CCD or CMOS without lens-coupling are used in intraoral radiography. CR system using PSP is mainly used in extraoral radiographic system and a linear array CCD or CR sensors, in panoramic system. Currently, the digital radiographic system is an important subject in the dental field. Most studies reported that no significant difference in diagnostic performance was found between the digital and conventional systems. To accept advances in technology and utilize benefits provided by the systems, the continuous feedback between doctors and manufacturers is essential.

  • X-ray laminography and DT(digital tomosynthesis) that can form a cross-sectional image of 3-D objects promise to be good solutions for inspecting interior defects of industrial products. The major factors of the digital tomosynthesis that influence on the quality of x-ray cross-sectional images are also discussed. The quality of images acquired from the DT system varies according to image synthesizing methods, the number of images used in image synthesizing, and X-ray projection angles. In this paper, a new image synthesizing method named 'log-root method' is proposed to get clear and accurate cross-sectional images, which can reduce both artifact and blurring generated by materials out of focal plane. To evaluate the quality of cross-sectional images, two evaluating criteria: (1) shape accuracy and (2) clearness in the cross-sectional image are defined. Based on this criteria, a series of simulations were performed, and the results show the superiority of the new synthesizing method over the existing ones such as averaging and minimum method.

  • By converting movable indirect mass chest X-ray devices for vehicles into digital systems and upgrading it to share information with the hospital's medical image information system, excellencies have been confirmed as a result of installing and running this type of system and are listed hereinafter. 1. Upgrading analog systems, such as indirect mass chest X-ray devices dependent on printed film, to digital systems allows them to be run and managed much more efficiently, contributing to the increase in the stability and the efficiency of the system. 2. Unlike existing images, communication based on DICOM standards allow images to be compatible with the hospital's outer and inner network PACS systems, extending the scope of the radiation departments information system. 3. Assuming chest-exclusive indirect mass chest X-rays, a linked development of CAD (Computer Aided Diagnosis, Detector) becomes possible. 4. By applying wireless Internet, Web-PACS for movable indirect mass chest X-ray devices for vehicles will become possible. Research in these fields must continue and if the superior image quality and convenience of digital systems are confirmed, I believe that the conversion of systems still dependent on analog images to modernized digital systems is a must.

  • We developed a digital x-ray medical imaging system using commercially available amorphous silicon image sensor plate. The image readout could be accomplished within 3.5 sec after radiation exposure and be displayed on a monitor through computer interface. This system needs not the conventional x-ray films and film processors, and also provides digital radiographic images. This system is the fastest digital radiography system developed so far, and expected to replace many of the conventional x-ray film systems or digital radiography systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method of background removing for digital self-adaptive acquisition in medical X-ray imaging. We analysis the construction of video digital acquisition system and main factors of acquired image quality, propose a more efficiency method to against background non-uniformly. With proposed method, non-uniform illumination back ground was well removed without image quality degradation.
