Implementation of a No Pulse Competition CPS-SPWM Technique Based on the Concentrated Control for Cascaded Multilevel DSTATCOMs

  • Digital signal processor (DSP) and field programmable gate array (FPGA) based concentrated control systems are designed for implementing CPS-SPWM strategies. The self-defined universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART) protocol is used for communication between a master controller and an individual module controller via high speed links. Aimed at undesired pulse competition, this paper analyzes its generation mechanism and presents a new method for eliminating competition pulses with no time delay. Finally, the proposed concentrated controller is applied to a 10kV/10MVar distribution static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM) industrial prototype. Experimental results show the accuracy and reliability of the concentrated controller, and verify the superiority of the proposed elimination method for competition pulses.

Efficient Computation of the DFT and IDFT in Communication Systems Using Discrete Multitone Modulation

  • The Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT) are commonly used in signal processing applications, in particular in digital communication sys-tems using the multi-carrier modulation principle. In such systems an IDFT is computed at the transmitter end, and a DFT at the re-ceiver end. This paper examines a technique of computations, for which only negligible differences appear between the DFT and the IDFT calculations while the number of arithmetic operations re-quired is substantially reduced. This offers significant advantages for the design of an IDFT/DFT processor for Discrete Multitone(DMT) systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a data encoding algorithm for two-dimensional barcode system. In general, one-dimensional barcode is just a key which can access detailed information to the host computer database. But the two-dimensional barcode is a new technology which can obtain high density information without access to the host computer database. We implemented encoding algorithm for Data Matrix Barcode which is the most widely used among the many kind of two-dimensional barcodes. And we marked to a real object using Digital Signal Processor(DSP) Marking System. The performance of proposed algorithm is verified through the result of marking work.

  • 본 논문에서는 실시간 데이터 및 보안데이터, 영상데이터 통을 전송할 때 잡음으로 인해 발생되는 데이터 오류를 효과적으로 복원하기 위해 오류 정정 능력이 뛰어난 터보코드를 적응하여 신뢰성 있는 영상전송 시스템을 실현하였다. 영상처리 시스템에서는 CCTV, 비디오 카메라 등에서 나오는 NTSC(National Television System Committee) 영상 신호를 비디오 디코더를 통해 A/D 변환하여 출력하였다. 변환된 디지털 영상정보는 두 개의 영상필드로 출력되며 그중 하나의 필드가 선택되는 알고리즘을 EPLD(Erasable Programmable Logic Device) 로직회로로 구성하여 디지털 영상 데이터를 절반으로 줄이는 시스템을 구현하였다. 터보코드의 부호기, 복호기 시스템에서는 실수연산이 가능한 DSP(Digital Signal Processor)를 사용하여 터보코드를 구현하였으며, 터보코드의 성능을 좌우하는 인터리버부분은 블록 인터리버를 적용하여 설계하였다.

Numerical Analysis of a Flux-Reversal Machine with 4-Switch Converters

  • Many different converter topologies have been developed with a view to use the minimum number of switches in order to reduce construction costs. Among this research, the four-switch converter topology with a novel PWM control technique based on the current controlled PWM method is thought to be a good solution. In this paper, a two dimensional time-stepped voltage source finite-element method (FEM) is used to analyze the characteristics of a Flux-Reversal Machine (FRM) with a 4-switch converter. To validate the proposed computational method, a digital signal processor (DSP) installed controller and prototype FRM are built and experiments performed.

  • 지폐 인식 자동화기기가 여러 분야에 보편화되면서 다양한 지폐를 고속으로 처리할 수 있는 고속지폐 인식 자동화 기기가 요구되고 있다. 하지만 대부분의 지폐 인식 자동화 기기가 고속화에 적합하지 않은 구조로 설계되어 있고 신권 추가가 용이하지 않다. 본 논문은 고속 Paper Currency 인식 시스템에 적합한 범용 하드웨어 시스템과 Bayes Rule 기반의 고속 인식 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 범용 하드웨어 구조는 고속의 CIS(Contact Image Sensor)와 DSP(Digital Signal Processor) 그리고 Dual Memory System으로 구성되었다. Bayes Rule에 기초한 고속 인식 알고리즘은 기존의 Paper Currency 인식 시스템에 사용되었던 기계학습 방법에 비해 신권 추가가 쉽고 적은 연산으로 권종을 판별할 수 있어 고속 지폐 인식 자동화기기에 적합하다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 방법들을 실제 자동화기기로 구현하여 그 유용성을 검증한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a force-platform system suitable for real situations in industry. The developed system is a 3-axis measurement type. It consists of force-transmission, force measuring circuit, and the software that analyzes the measured force. The force-transmission transmits forces to 3 axes, which has a physical structure to minimize the interference among those axes. Force measuring circuit consists of DSP (digital signal processor) for flexible disposal of change of measurement algorithm, elimination of noise and maintenance of precision. The functions of the software are the calibration which revises the measurement error occuring during data acquisition, and various analyses of forces. The result of the experiment shows that the developed system has about 1% measurement error, is stable for repeated experiments, and is not effected by temperature change.

  • This paper presents to accomplish successfully a multi-input real time control by applying control hierarchy for sliding mode of multi-joint manipulators whose nonlinear terms are regarded as disturbances. We- could simplify the dynamic equations of a manipulator and servo system, which are composed of linear elements and nonlinear elements, by assuming that nonlinear terms, which are Inertia term, gravity force term, Coriolis force term and centrifugal force term, are external disturbance. By simplifying that equation, we could easily obtain a control input which satisfy sliding mode of multi-input system. We proposed a new control input algorithm in order to decrease chattering by changing control input according as effect of disturbance if a control response become within allowance error range. In this experiments, we used DSP(Digital Signal Processor) controller to suppress chattering by time delay of calculation and to carry out real time control.

Velocity profile generation methods for industrial robots and CNC machine tools

  • We propose software algorithms which provide the characteristics of acceleration/deceleration essential to high dynamic performance at the transient state where industrial robots or CNC machine tools start and stop. The path error, which is one of the most significant factors in performance evaluation of industrial robots and CNC machine tools, is analyzed for linear, exponential, and parabolic acceleration/deceleration algorithms in case of circular interpolation. The analysis shows that the path error depends on the acceleration/deceleration routine and the servo control system. In experiments, the entire control algorithm including the proposed acceleration/deceleration algorithms is executed on the motion control system with a floating point digital signal processor(DSP) TMS320C30 as a CPU. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms are very effective in controlling axes of motion of industrial robots or CNC machine tools with the desired characteristics.

  • In this paper, a sliding mode controller (SMC) which can be characterized by high accuracy, fast response and robustness is applied to speed control of AC-SERVO motor. The control input is changed to continuous one in the boundary layer to reduce the chattering phenomenon, and the boundary layer converges to zero when the state variables of system reach to steady state values. The integral compensator is added to reduce steady state error and to provide the continuous torque reference. The acceleration which is necessary to get the sliding plane is estimated by an observer. Sliding surface is included in control input to enhance the robustness and transient response without increasing sliding mode controller gain. The proposed controller is implemented by DSP(digital signal processor). The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme for speed controller is shown by the real-time experimental results in the paper.
