잠수함 개념 설계를 위한 디지털 목업 개발 (Development of a Digital Mock-up for Conceptual Design of a Submarine)

  • In designing and manufacturing a submarine, an expensive real mock up is usually built as a reference because of the spatial constraints of a submarine. This paper presents an integrated and automated design process for a submarine that uses a digital mock up. Various equipment libraries are built for feature based design. Using the developed digital mock up, this paper shows various ways to verify the design, including a space analysis to check for any interference between pieces of equipment and the hull and an ergonomic analysis using lifelike dummies to examine the work space and operability. As a part of the integrated design system, a design automation system was also developed to generate surface point data for the outer hull, pressure hull, casing, and sail. The whole process was applied to the design of a submarine for verification.

  • In the development of large complex assembly, most design changes are from the following reasons.: 1) insufficient consideration of assembling sequence of downstream process. 2) interference and fit-up of related parts. 3) initial design changes which are not completely resolved. In order to reduce the first reason of above, the assembly-centric modeling methodology was proposed in the part (1) of the thesis. In this part (2), a Digital Mock-Up system, which is a tool to build a virtual mock-up in design stage, has been developed in order to prevent the other two reasons. The system can build a virtual assembly in various ways as followings.: 1) assembling parts which are located in user defined envelope. 2) assembling parts with the specified disciplines. 3) assembling parts that are selected in the part list. It can also make an assembly by the combination of above methods. In addition to that, it has the functions to read/write the virtual assembly and to explode parts of the assembly in desired direction. With the virtual assembly, engineers can design interference free parts without making physical mock-up. The system has been implemented with Oracle database management system in CATIA environment.

  • The purpose of this paper is to verify and validate the maintenance tasks of the construction of a nuclear facility using a digital mock-up and simulation technology instead of a physical mock-up. Prior to the construction of a nuclear facility, a remote simulator that provides the opportunity to produce a complete digital mock-up of the PRIDE (Pyroprocess Integrated Inactive DEmonstration Facility) region and its remote handling equipment, including operations and maintenance procedures has been developed. In this paper, the system architecture and graphic user interface of a remote simulator that coincides with the extraordinary nature of a nuclear fuel cycle facility is introduced. In order to analyze the remote accessibility of a remote manipulator, virtual prototyping that was performed it by using haptic device of external input devices under a 3D full-scale digital mock-up is explained.

  • The green building is one of biggest factors to go the goal of energy saving and environmental conservation, reduction of energy consumption, friendly energy technology, recycling of resource, and environmental pollution reduction technology. The purpose of these green buildings realized by the energy-saving technology such as the exterior materials or curtain wall system. The curtain wall system is a element that come to insulated portions of building envelope that results in heat loss. The purpose of this paper is to carried out mock-up tests for exterior wall used in autoclaved lightweight concrete panels in green building practices. Mock-up test execute a mixed process between standard test procedure and complex test procedure based on AAMA 501(American Society for Testing and Materials) and ASTM 283, ASTM 330(American Society for Testing and Materials). In results, tests meet the requirements that grant values in steps of procedures provided on ASTM and AAMA. ALC panel is suitable for a exterior wall product to be gratified thermal cycling performance and structural capacity, deflection(H/200) and lateral displacement(H/50), for curtain walls.

Mock-up 부재제작을 통한 비정형 건축 외장부재의 제작 문제점 분석 및 개선방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Problem Analysis and Quality Improvement in Fabricating Free-Form Buildings Facade Panels through Mock-up Panels Production)

  • 비정형 건축물은 건축가의 디자인 의도를 반영한 다양한 형태의 외장 디자인을 포함한다. 이러한 비정형 형태의 외장부재는 NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline) 라 불리는 이 방향 곡률로 구성된 불규칙한 자유곡선면을 포함하고 있어 실제 외장부재의 생산 및 시공을 위해서는 3차원 비정형 BIM 기술을 적용한 패널최적화 단계를 거쳐야 한다. 본 연구에서는 역공학(Reverse Engineering) 기법을 근간으로 사례연구를 통해 비정형 건축물 BIM 도구인 디지털 프로젝트를 활용하여 패널형태를 구축하고 패널 최적화 결과를 도출한다. 최적화 결과 도출된 비정형 패널부재의 곡률 형상에 따른 Mock-Up 패널제작을 통해 패널종류에 따른 제작 용이성을 테스트하고 레이저 스케닝 기술을 사용하여 설계한 패널과 생산된 패널과의 데이터를 비교함으로써 이방향 곡률 곡면부재의 제작정밀도를 분석한다. Mock-Up 부재 제작 시 전문가 인터뷰를 통하여 국내에서 수행되고 있는 현행 비정형 외장부재 생산방식의 문제점을 도출하고 개선방안을 제시한다.

XML을 이용한 이기종 CAD 조립체 DMU시스템의 설계 (An XML-based Digital Mock-Up System for Heterogeneous Multi-CAD Assembly)

  • As many engineers and technicians are involved in the design process of large scale and/or complex products, there are a lot of miss matches and interferences due to designers' faults and several kinds of CAD systems. Recently, CAD systems are applied to verify and check the assembly process. Digital Mock-Up(DMU) system, a tool to build a virtual mock-up in the design stage, has been used to prevent the interferences and miss matches during precision design processes. Using the virtual assembly tool, engineers are able to design precision and interference free parts without physical mock-ups. Instead of a single CAD source, several CAD systems are used to design a complex product. Several organizations are involved in the distributed design environment for heterogeneous multi-CAD assembly. XML and the lightweight CAD file are proposed for the multi-CAD assembly. XML data contains hierarchy of the heterogenenous multi-CAD assembly. STEP PDM schema and STEP ISO 10303-28 formations are applied to construct the XML data. The lightweight CAD file produced from various CAD files through ACIS kernel and InterOp not only contains mesn, B-Rep and topological data, but also is used to visualize CAD data and to verify dimensions. Developed system is executed on the desktop computers. It does not require commercial CAD systems to visualize 3D assembly data. Real-time interference and fitness checks, dimensional verification, and design and assembly verification are performed on the developed system. Assembly of heterogeneous models for a car is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the developed DMU system on the Internet.

DIGITAL MOCK-UP에 의한 CYL/HEAD 시제품 제작

  • CYL/HEAD제작에 있어서 DIGITAL MOCK-UP의 효과는 다음과 같다. 1. PATTERN에서 가상 몰드를 만들어 몰드의 장, 탈착성을 검토할 수 있고 각 몰드 및 전체중량을 산출할 수 있기 때문에 최적의 PARTING을 할 수 있다. 2. 가상 몰드의 조립에 의해서 가상 주물형을 만들 수 있기 때문에 생산하기 전에 실물의 내, 외부의 정확한 형상을 알 수가 있다. 즉 주물공정상 외형부분과 CORE 부분의 형상을 따로 만들기 때문에 형상을 잘못 만들었든가 몰드 조립을 잘못 했든가 하는 등의 이유로 간혹 두께가 맞지 않은 경우가 있는데 SECTION 확인에 의해서 외형부분과 CORE 가장자리에 두께가 제대로 되어 있는지 알 수가 있으므로 오류를 줄일 수 있다.

파이로 공정장치의 원격 취급성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of Remote Handling Performance for Pyroprocessing Facilities)

  • In this study, it is performed that the assessment of feasibility of developed material processing facilities using tele-operation manipulator system for the pyroprocessing. To evaluate the performance of developed facilities using tele-operation system, several performance indices are considered as remote visibility, remote reachability and remote manipulability. These are applied to RHEM (Remote Handling Evaluation Mock-up) and digital mock-up system respectively. Through this approaches, several requirements for the system improvement are deduced and preliminary inspection for real system application is fully performed. Additionally, assembly and disassembly tasks for the repair of remote handling system are also examined remotely in RHEM and evaluated those performances.

  • Tilting train has been developed to increase the operational speed of the trains on conventional lines which have many curves. This train are tilted at curves to compensate for unbalanced carbody centrifugal acceleration to a greater extent than compensation produced by the track cant, so that passengers do not feel centrifugal acceleration and thus trains can run at higher speed at curves. This paper developed 3 Dimensional Digital Mock-UP using PDM(product data managemnet) to make a system engineering of TTX(tilting train express) wiht maximum operation speed 180 km/h.

Development of the Interface Module for an Effective Application of a Digital Mockup

  • As the cumulative amount of spent fuel increases, the reliable and effective management of the spent fuel has become a world-wide mission. For this mission, KAERI is developing the Advanced Spent Fuel Conditioning Process (ACP) as a pre-disposal treatment process for spent fuel. Conventional approach to the development of the process and the remote operation technology is to fabricate the process equipment on the same scale as the real environment and demonstrate the remote handling operation using simulated fuel called a mock-up test. But this mock-up test is expensive and time consuming, since the design may need to be modified and the equipment fabricated again to account for the problems found during a testing. To deal with this problem, we developed a digital mockup for the ACP. Also, for an effective utilization of the digital mockup, we developed user interface modules such as the data acquisition and display module and the external input device interface module. The result of this implementation shows that a continuous motion of the manipulator using the external device interface can be represented easily and the information display screens responded well to the simulation situation.
