Disk Cache Manager based on Minix3 Microkernel : Design and Implementation (Minix3 마이크로커널 기반 디스크 캐쉬 관리자의 설계 및 구현)

  • Disk Cache Manager(DCM), a functional server of microkernel based, to improve the I/O power of shared disks is designed and implemented in this work. DCM interfaces other different servers with message passing through ports by serving as a system actor the multi-thread mode on the Minix3 micro-kernel. DCM proposed in this paper uses the shared disk logically as a Seven Disk and Sodd Disk to enable parallel I/O. DCM enables the efficient placement of disk data because it raises disk cache hit-ratio by increasing the cache size when the utilization of the particular disk is high. Through experimental results, we show that DCM is quite efficient for a shared disk with higher utilization.

Audio Transformation Filter for Multimedia I/O Server (멀티미디어 입출력 서버를 위한 오디오 변환 필터)

  • In this paper, we present a design method of a digital filter converting humming voice melody into MIDI data and a method of adapting it to a distributed multimedia I/O server. MuX uses device-independent DLMs(Dynamic Linking Module) for the inteliace with various I/O devices, and has wave-form audio DLM and MIDI DLM for audio interfaces. In order to expand the audio device interfacing ability of MuX system, we have designed and implemented a filter transforming human voice into MIDI messages. As the methods to input MIDI data are expanded to human voice in addition to MIDI files and MIDI instrument, someone who is not good at playing instruments can also generate the MIDI data, which enables our media interfaces to be used in various applications.

Design of an Asynchronous eFuse One-Time Programmable Memory IP of 1 Kilo Bits Based on a Logic Process (Logic 공정 기반의 비동기식 1Kb eFuse OTP 메모리 IP 설계)

  • We propose a low-power eFuse one-time programmable (OTP) memory cell based on a logic process. The eFuse OTP memory cell uses separate transistors optimized at program and read mode, and reduces an operation current at read mode by reducing parasitic capacitances existing at both WL and BL. Asynchronous interface, separate I/O, BL SA circuit of digital sensing method are used for a low-power and small-area eFuse OTP memory IP. It is shown by a computer simulation that operation currents at a logic power supply voltage of VDD and at I/O interface power supply voltage of VIO are 349.5${\mu}$A and 3.3${\mu}$A, respectively. The layout size of the designed eFuse OTP memory IP with Dongbu HiTek's 0.18${\mu}$m generic process is 300 ${\times}$557${\mu}m^2$.

Digital X-ray Detector에 적용을 위한 Polycrystalline CdTe 구조에 따른 전기적 신호 연구

  • 기존 진단용 Digital X-ray Detector이 직접방식에서는 a-Se (Amorphous Selenium)이 대중화되었지만 고전압을 인가하여야한다는 점과 그로 인한 물질 자체의 Life time 감소 등 여러 단점들 때문에 기타 후보물질들로 HgI2, PbI2, PbO, CdTe, CdZnTe가 연구 되고 있다. 이러한 후보 물질들 중 본 연구에서는 PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition)방식을 이용하여 Polycrystalline CdTe 박막을 제작하고 특성 향상을 위해 유전물질을 Passive layer와 Protect layer로써 증착하였다. 또한 유전체층의 위치에 따른 특성 분석을 위해 제작된 박막은 FE-SEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope), XRD (X-ray Diffraction)을 통해 구조적인 특성을 확인하였다. 그리고 입사되는 X-ray 선량에 의해 생성되는 전기적 특성을 분석하였다, 그 결과 박막의 Grain Size는 약 $5{\mu}M$이며 (111)방향의 주 peak를 띄는 Poly CdTe형태로 증착된 것을 확인하였다. 전기적인 신호 결과 Passive layer와 Protect layer를 증착한 박막 모두 Darkcurrent가 감소된 것을 확인하였다. 또한 Sensitivity 측정 결과 Passive layer를 삽입한 경우 신호 값이 감소하였으며 Protect layer를 삽입한 경우 신호 값의 변화가 일어나지 않았다. 그러므로 Protect layer를 등착한 박막의 경우 SNR이 현저히 높아지는 결과를 낳았다.

  • This paper describes the overall procedure of the development of a digital audio response system. It has been developed specifically as an answering system to the inquiries of telephone numbers from subscribers. The system has been realized based on the residual excited linear prediction (RELP) algorithm that incorporates a pitch predictive loop. Its major advantage over other similar systems is that it produces high quality of synthetic speech, although its memory size is relatively small. The hardware which consists of a speech synthesizer, a controller and an I/O part has been constructed using 2900 series bit-slice microprocessors and an INTEL 8085 microprocessor. The system is capable of real time processing, reliable, and adaptable to other applications.

The effect of prone pelvic blocking on hamstring muscle relaxation and sacral movement (엎드린 자세에서의 다리이음뼈 블록중재가 넙다리뒤근육 이완과 호흡시 엉치뼈 움직임에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the change of hamstring muscle relaxation and craniosacral reciprocal movement by using S. O. T. (sacrooccipital technique) categoryⅠ block-intervention process. 26 subjects with heel tension were randomly divided into two groups (EXP=13 and CON=13). This study carried out the category I block-intervention process on the experimental group and the false block-intervention process on the control group. Then, this study measured the sit-and-reach and sacral reciprocal movement of subjects before and after the intervention. The result values before and after the intervention were analyzed through ANCOVA by using SPSS PC Program (Ver. 20.0). In both investigations, the degree of hamstring muscle relaxation and the change of sacral reciprocal movement, there were statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group as [F(1, 23)=7.73, p<0.5] and [F(1, 23)=7.07, p<.05] respectively. According to the results of this study, it is expected that S. O. T category I bllock-intervention technique will have positive effect on both hamstring muscle relaxation and craniosacral reciprocal movement.

  • In this study, turbine speed control algorithm is studied for Buk-Jeju steam turbine power plant and also digital governor system is designed for speed control of steam turbine in power plant. By using duplex I/O module, triplex CPU module, 2 out of 3 voting algorithm and adding self diagnostic ability, the reliability of the designed digital governor system can be acquired satisfactorily. Designed and manufactured digital governor system is implemented in a pilot steam turbine plant of 0.3kw output power Installed in Korea Maritime University. After a series of experiment the reliability and availability is confirmed and also stable operation is achieved.

A Simulation of Temperature Control of Greenhouse with Hot-Water Heating System (온수난방시스템 온실의 온도제어 시뮬레이션)

  • It is required to analyze the controlled response of air temperature in greenhouse according to control techniques for precise control. In this study, a mathematical model was established for air heating of greenhouse with hot-water heating system The parameters of the model were decided by regression analysis using reference data measured at the greenhouse being heated In the simulation for the digital control of air temperature in the greenhouse, the mathematical model to evaluate the control performances was used. Tested control methods were ON-OFF contpol, p control, rl control and PID control. The mathematical model represented by inside air temperature ( T$_{i}$), hot-water temperature (T$_{w}$) in heating pipe and outside air temperature (T$_{o}$) was expressed as a following discrete time equation ; T$_{i}$($textsc{k}$+1)= 0.851.T$_{i}$($textsc{k}$)+0.055.T$_{w}$($textsc{k}$)+0.094.T$_{o}$($textsc{k}$) Control simulations for various control methods showed the settling time, the overshoot and the steady state nor as follows; infinite time, 3.5$0^{\circ}C$, 3.5$0^{\circ}C$ for ON-OFF control : 30min 2.37$^{\circ}C$, 0.51$^{\circ}C$ for P control; 21min, 0.0$0^{\circ}C$, 0.23$^{\circ}C$ for PI control; 18min 0.0$0^{\circ}C$, 0.23$^{\circ}C$ for PID control, respectively. PI and PID controls appeared to be optimal control methods. There was no effect of differential gain on the heating process but much effect of integral gain on it.on it.

Performance Analysis of Disk Array System with Write Dedicated Buffer (기록전용버퍼를 내장한 디스크배열 시스템의 성능분석)

  • Turnaround time of a job performing frequent disk I/O operations is greatly affected by I/O bottleneck which incurs due to the large gap in the speeds of I/O devices and the CPU. This paper proposes to employ a Write Dedicated Buffer(WDB) in disk arrays to improve the response time for read requests and analyzes the scheduling policies and the efficiency of the WDB. Through a series of simulations we show that, among the three policies examined, the partial stripe join(PSJ) policy is the most effective in terms of response time for both read and write requests and that, especially when using a WDB on declustered arrays, improvement of response time for read requests becomes greater as the request rate increases.
