  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of real time communication digital photography method using Kakao Talk application in smart-phone for the fortification of food consumption monitoring and weight reduction. Thirty-four female college students were randomly assigned to the camera-phone (CP) group or smart-phone (SP) group. Each group participated in the weight control program for 8 weeks. The mean energy intake of CP group during program was 1353.5 kcal and the SP group consumed 1289.2 kcal. The total energy intake of both groups was significantly decreased during the program. The CP group lost 1.9 kg of body weight and 1.9% of body fat and the SP group lost 4.3 kg of body weight and 3.0% of body fat. The body weight was significantly decreased in the SP group compared to the CP group. The triglyceride and total cholesterol, and LDL-cholesterol level of SP group were significantly decreased during the program. However, there were no significant changes in CP group during the program. Also there were no significant changes in lipid profile between two groups. In this study, it is considered that real time communication digital photography method using Kakao Talk application in smart-phone might influence weight control through a trained consumption monitoring. Therefore, smart-phone can lead individuals to rely more heavily on easy-to-monitor visual cues.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of food consumption monitoring based on a digital photography method using a mobile phone on food consumption and weight reduction. Eighteen female college students (>30% body fat) participated in the weight control program using a mobile-phone for 4 wks. The energy intake was reduced significantly after 3 wks compared to baseline (P<0.05, baseline: 1,453.0 kcal, 3rd wk: 1,171.1 kcal, 4th wk: 1,130.8 kcal). The subjects lost 2.8 kg of body weight, 1.4% of % body fat, and 1.1 $kg/m^2$ of body mass index (BMI) after 4 wks. There were also significant differences in blood pressure (P<0.001) and serum cholesterol (total cholesterol: P<0.05, LDL-cholesterol: P<0.01) before and after the self-regulated diet program. In this study, the digital photography method using a mobile-phone influenced weight control through trained consumption monitoring, which helps individuals reduce discrepancies between perceived and actual consumption levels. Therefore, effective monitoring by taking food pictures using a mobile-phone can lead individuals to rely more heavily on easy-to-monitor visual cues.

  • This study proposed an auto focusing method for a multi-focus image in assembling lens modules in digital camera phones. A camera module in a camera phone is composed of a lens barrel, an IR glass, a lens mount, a PCB board and aspheric lenses. Alignment among the components is one of the important factors in product quality. Auto-focus is essential to adjust image quality of an IR glass in a lens holder, but there are two focal points in the captured image due to thickness of IR glass. So, sharpness, probability and a scale factor are defined to find desired focus from a multi-focus image. The sharpness is defined as clarity of an image. Probability and a scale factors are calculated using pattern matching with a registered image. The presented algorithm was applied to a lens assembly machine which has 5 axes, two vacuum chucks and an inspection system. The desired focus can be determined on the local maximum of the sharpness, the probability and the scale factor in the experiment.

Especially, I consider digital camera and digital photo's culture of N-generation by studying a case of digital camera's internet silt, DCINSIDE.COM A digital photo in daily life is one of the remarkable phenomenon of digital culture. Photography that is faster to understand and more familiar than letter leads 0 digital culture. Digital photo takes charge of a group at display phone with sound. N generation who is familiar to image takes with a digital photo in every ways of communication. Recently our communication culture use a image to new communication through digital camera and development of digital photo. Digital photo deeply comes into our ordinary life when we never recognize in advance. And it let us recognize a lot of changes and communication. In this point of time, it demand that we must have a responsible attitude for development of digital photographic culture.

  • Analyzing the diffusion of a convergence product is a new and challenging research field. It is very difficult to find research dealing with this issue due to the inherent complexity and lack of data. In analyzing the diffusion of a convergence product, we should simultaneously take into account its relationship with related single-function products because of their similarities in terms of technology and functionality. In this study, we empirically analyze the diffusion of the convergence mobile phones in South Korea and find that the convergence products can affect the diffusion of MP3 players and digital cameras positively or negatively. This research may be significant for business strategies in technology management and product development.

  • In this paper, we propose the surveillance and combat robot framework for remote monitoring and robot control on the smart phone, which is implemented with the fusion technology called RITS(Robot technology & Information Technology System). In our implemented system, the camera phone mounted on the robot generates signals to control the robot and sends images to the smart phone of the operator. Therefore, we can monitor the surrounding area of the robot with the smart phone. Besides the control of the movement of the robot, we can fire the weapons armed on the robot by sending the fire command. From experimental results, we can conclude that it's possible to control the robot and monitor the surrounding area of the robot and fire the weapons in real time in the region where the 3G(Generation) mobile communication is possible. In addition, we controlled the robot using the 2G mobile communication or wired phone when the robot is in the visual range.

  • In the digital camera system, CMOS image sensor (CIS) is widely used because its size and weight become smaller and power consumption becomes lower. However, there are common problems that colors of the recorded image do not match those of the photographed object and that spectral sensitivity of the CIS used in different cameras varies largely in each case. Therefore, color correction is needed because the spectral sensitivity of the CIS in each color is neither the same color component for most standard colors nor the appropriate color representation for any output devices. In the conventional method, a color correction is empirically obtained by a large number of iterative experiments, but the result is not so satisfied. In this paper, a new method to obtain the efficient color correction matrix for digital camera using CIS is proposed. We obtain camera transfer matrix under the certain white-balance point, and color correction matrix that makes the transfer characteristic of digital camera close to the transfer characteristic of ideal camera is obtained. The experimental results show that the transfer characteristic of digital camera by the proposed method is close to that of the ideal camera. In addition, the image quality of pictures of digital camera using the proposed method is dramatically improved.

  • Objective : Neuroimaging data are of paramount importance in making correct diagnosis. We herein evaluate the clinical usefulness of image transfer using cellular phones to facilitate neurological diagnosis and decision-making. Methods : Selected images from CT, MRI scans, and plain films obtained from 50 neurosurgical patients were transferred by cellular phones. A cellular phone with a built-in 1,300,000-pixel digital camera was used to capture and send the images. A cellular phone with a 262,000 color thin-film transistor liquid crystal display was used to receive the images. Communication between both cellular phones was operated by the same wireless protocol and the same wireless internet service. We compared the concordance of diagnoses and treatment plans between a house staff who could review full-scale original films and a consultant who could only review transferred images. These finding were later analyzed by a third observer. Results : The mean time of complete transfer was $2{\sim}3\;minutes$. The quality of all images received was good enough to make precise diagnosis and to select treatment options. Transferred images were helpful in making correct diagnosis and decision making in 49/50 [98%] cases. Discordant result was caused in one patient by improper selection of images by the house staff. Conclusion : The cellular phone system was useful for image transfer and delivery patient's information, leading to earlier diagnosis and initiation of treatment. This usefulness was due to sufficient resolution of the built-in camera and the TFT-LCD, the user-friendly features of the devices, and their low cost.
