등유-산소 층류 확산화염의 길이 변화 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Investigations of the Characteristics of the Length Variation of Kerosene-Oxygen Laminar Diffusion Flames)

  • 등유-산소 동축류 확산화염 버너에서 연료의 유량, 버너 외축에 공급되는 산화제의 온도, 불활성가스로 희석된 산화제의 특성이 화염 길이 변화 특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰해 보았다. 각 실험 조건에서 생성된 동축류 확산 화염은 쉴리렌 카메라를 이용하여 촬영한 뒤 디지털 이미징 프로세싱 기법을 적용하여 그 길이를 측정하였다. 실험결과를 통해 측정된 화염길이는 등유 연료의 유량과 산화제의 온도에 비례하여 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러, 산화제에 첨가되는 불활성가스의 희석량이 증가할수록 화염 길이는 증가하는 하였고, 특히 동일한 산소 농도에서 질소가스로 희석된 경우가 헬륨가스로 희석된 경우에 비해 화염길이가 큰 폭으로 증가하였다. 이는 유체의 점성 저항에 영향을 미치는 불활성가스의 희석이 화염 길이 변화에 영향을 미치는 주요 메카니즘이기 때문으로 판단된다.

  • This paper presents a proper condition to achieve high conversion efficiency using PC1D simulator on sri-crystalline Si solar cells. Various efficiency influencing parameters such as rear surface recombination velocity and minority carrier diffusion length in the base region, front surface recombination velocity, junction depth and doping concentration in the Emitter layer, BSF thickness and doping concentration were investigated. Optimized cell parameters were given as rear surface recombination of 1000 cm/s, minority carrier diffusion length in the base region 200 $\mu\textrm{m}$, front surface recombination velocity 100 cm/s, sheet resistivity of emitter layer 100 Ω/$\square$, BSF thickness 5 $\mu\textrm{m}$, doping concentration 5${\times}$10$\^$19/ cm$\^$-3/. Among the investigated variables, we learn that a diffusion length of base layer acts as a key factor to achieve conversion efficiency higher than 19 %.

전산유체역학(CFD)를 활용한 정수공정에서 압력수 확산공정 진단 (Evaluation of Pressurized Water Diffusion in Water Treatment Process Using CFD)

  • 압력수 확산공정은 정수공정에서 응집제나 염소용해수를 고압의 압력수로 분사하여 혼합하는 공정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 압력수 확산공정에 대한 전산유체역학적(Computational Fluid Dynamics) 진단을 통해 투입한 약품의 완전 혼합거리 및 혼합 거리를 줄이기 위한 확산판의 크기와 설치거리를 도출하는 것이다. 진단결과 2,200 mm 대형관에 $5kg/cm^2$ 압력수를 50mm, 100 mm 분사관으로 분사할 경우 혼합이 완료되는 혼합거리는 4D였다. 혼합거리를 줄이기 위해 분사관 전방에 확산판을 설치할 경우 분사관이 50 mm일 때 0.1D 직경의 확산판을 분사관 전방 0.2D 거리에 설치하면 혼합거리를 3D로 줄일 수있다. 그러나 분사관이 100 mm인 경우는 확산판의 크기와 설치 거리와는 상관없이 확산판이 없는 4D보다 확산거리를 줄일 수 없는 것으로 진단되었다. 따라서 2,200 mm 관에 압력수를 분사하는 경우는 50 mm 분사관을 설치하는 것이 100 mm보다 훨씬 효율적인 것으로 나타났다.

Diffusion Behavior of n-Alkanes by Molecular Dynamics Simulations

  • In this paper we have presented the results of diffusion behavior of model systems for eight liquid n-alkanes ($C_{12}$-$C_{44}$) in a canonical (NVT) ensemble at several temperatures using molecular dynamics simulations. For these n-alkanes of small chain length n, the chains are clearly <$R_{ee}^2$>/6<$R_g^2$>>1 and non-Gaussian. This result implies that the liquid n-alkanes over the whole temperatures considered are far away from the Rouse regime, though the ratio becomes close to the unity as n increases. Calculated self-diffusion constants $D_{self}$ are comparable with experimental results and the Arrhenius plot of self-diffusion constants versus inverse temperature shows a different temperature dependence of diffusion on the chain length. The global rotational motion of n-alkanes is examined by characterizing the orientation relaxation of the end-to-end vector and it is found that the ratio ${\tau}1/{\tau}2$ is less than 3, the value expected for a isotropically diffusive rotational process. The friction constants ${\xi}$of the whole molecules of n-alkanes are calculated directly from the force auto-correlation (FAC) functions and compared with the monomeric friction constants ${\xi}_D$ extracted from $D_{self}$. Both the friction constants give a correct qualitative trends: decrease with increasing temperature and increase with increasing chain length. The friction constant calculated from the FAC's decreases very slowly with increasing temperature, while the monomeric friction constant varies rapidly with temperature. By considering the orientation relaxation of local vectors and diffusion of each site, it is found that rotational and translational diffusions of the ends are faster than those of the center.

Diffusion Length Measurement of the Triplet Exciton in PHOLEDs by using Double Quantum Well Structure

  • PHOLED devices which have the structure of ITO/HAT-CN(5nm)/NPB(50nm)/EML(47nm)/TPBi(10nm)/Alq3(20nm)/LiF(0.8nm)/Al(100nm) are fabricated to investigate the diffusion length of the triplet exciton by using double-quantum-well(DQE) EML structure. To fabricate DQW structures, Ir(ppy)3(2% wt) and Ir(btp)2(8% wt) are used as green and red emission zones, respectively. In DQW structured EML, as shown in Fig. 1, 1nm thick layers of green and red emission zones are located middle of the EML, and the distance between these wells(x) is changed from 0nm to 10nm. As shown in Fig. 2, the emission spectra from DQW PHOLED devices are changed with different x. The intensity of the green emission(520nm) is decreased when x is decreased, and it goes to near zero when x=0nm. This behavior can be identified as the diffusion of the triplet excitons from Ir(ppy)3 to Ir(btp)2 by the Dexter energy transfer(DET). From the external quantum efficiency(EQE) of the red emission, as shown in Fig. 3, the diffusion length of the triplet excitons can be determined by the equation of DET rate, R=A Exp(-2RDA/L), where RDA is donor-acceptor distance and L is the sum of the van der Wals radii. As a result, the measured data of the red EQEs with different x are identified to theoretical result from the equation of DET rate(Fig. 4). From this results, we could confirm that the diffusion length of the triplet excitons can be determined by using DQW structure and this method is very useful to investigate the behavior of the excitons in PHOLEDs.

Dynamic Response of Charge Transfer and Recombination at Various Electrodes in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells Investigated Using Intensity Modulated Photocurrent and Photovoltage Spectroscopy

  • Intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy and intensity modulated photovoltage spectroscopy were investigated to measure the dynamic response of charge transfer and recombination in the standard, $TiCl_4$-treated and the combined scattering layer electrode dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). IMPS and IMVS provided transit time ($\tau_n$), lifetime ($\tau_r$), diffusion coefficient ($D_n$) and effective diffusion length ($L_n$). These expressions are derived that generation, collection, and recombination of electrons in a thin layer nanocrystalline DSSC under conditions of steady illumination and with a superimposed small amplitude modulation. In this experimental, IMPS/IMVS showed that the main effect of $TiCl_4$ treatment is to suppress the recombination of photogenerated electrons, thereby extending their lifetime. And the Diffusion coefficient of combined scattering layer electrode is $6.10{\times}10^{-6}$ higher than that of the others, resulting in longer diffusion length.

보조연료의 공급이 확산화염의 보염특성에 미치는 영향 (Stabilization Characteristics of Diffusion Flame with Auxiliary Fuel Supply through a Bluff Body)

  • The stabilization characteristics of diffusion flame formed behind a bluff body with fuel injection slits was experimentally investigated by varying main fuel injection angles and auxiliary fuel injection conditions. The flame stability limits, temperature and length of recirculation zone, direct and schlieren photographs of flames were measured in order to study the stabilization mechanism of the diffusion flame. The results of this investigation are as follows. The stability limits can be improved by the condition of the kind and quanity of the injected auxiliary fuel. The length and temperature decrease with injection of auxiliary fuel, and these phenomena are remarkable when LPG is injected into the recirculation zone. When the LPG is injected into the recirculation zone, flame remains sooty. Fluctuation of fuel and main stream is generated actively by air injection.

Effects of n-Alkanols on the Lateral Diffusion of Total Phospholipid Fraction Extracted from Brain Membranes

  • We investigated the effects of n-alkanols on the range and rate of the lateral diffusion of 1, 3-di(1-pyrenyl)propane in the model membranes of total phospholipid fraction extracted from synaptosomal plasma membrane vesicles. n-Akanols increased the range and rate of the lateral diffusion of 1, 3-di(1-pyrenyl)propane in the bulk model membrane structures (inner + outer monolayers) and the potencies of n-alknols up to 1-nonanol increased by 1 order of magnitude as the carbon chain length increases by two carbon atoms. The cut-off phenomenon was reached at 1-decanol, where further icnrease in hydrocarbon length resulted in a decrease in the lateral diffusion. However, significant changes in the 1'/1 value were not observed by methanol (from 100 to 2500 mM), ethanol (from 25 to 800 mM), and 1-propanol (from 10 to 250 mM) over entire concentration.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Evaluation of the Prostate in Normal Dogs

  • The aims of this study were to describe the appearance and size of the normal canine prostate using magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and to calculate the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values. MR images were obtained from seven intact male beagle dogs using a 1.5 T MR unit. The sequences included pre- and post-contrast T1- and T2-weighted imaging with and without fat saturation. The signal intensity of the prostate was compared with the adjacent musculature, fat, and urine in the urinary bladder. We recorded the mean prostatic length, width, and height and the length of the sixth lumbar vertebral body (L6). In addition, the prostatic length (rL), width (rW), and height (rH) ratios to L6 were calculated. Diffusion-weighted images of the prostate were obtained and ADC values were calculated. The prostate was bilobed and oval-shaped, homogenous on T1-weighted images, and heterogeneous with radiating lines on T2-weighted images. Post-contrast T1-weighted sequences showed contrast enhancement of the central and radiating striations. The prostatic capsule was clearly identified on post-contrast T1-weighted images with fat saturation. The ADC values were 1.72-2.04 × 10-3mm2/sec (mean, 1.88 × 10-3mm2/sec). Knowledge of the normal appearance of the prostate on MR images is essential to assess prostatic diseases in dogs.

  • A mathematical model has been developed to evaluate the capability of sea water exchanges under tidal and diffusive environments and has been verified through comparison with numerical experiments. From the mathematical analysis, this study presents the rates of sea water exchanges due to the tidal inflow and diffusion process. The port characteristic length $L_p$ is the most significant evaluation index.
