The first order mation responses of a floating structure and the hydrodynamic forces in regular waves are obtained by means of the linear potential theory. The first order potential is obtained directly from the numerical solution of the improved Green integral equation which is characterized by the combined surface distribution of sources and normal doublets. The mean second order wave drift force is also calculated by means of the near field method. It seems that the present method gives more accurate numerical results than other methods and the agreement between numerical and experimental results appears to be satisfactory.

In optical storage device system, there are several research topics to increase its recording density. The main idea is reducing wave length of laser diode and magnifying the number of numerical aperture (NA). In conventional optical system NA cannot be over the unity in the air because of its diffraction limit. But it is possible to overcome its limitation of unity in near field using Solid Immersion Lens. In this work, the mathematical Solid Immersion Lens (SIL) design process was illustrated by using near field theory. Also, numerical SIL design parameters were calculated by means of CODE V. Through the work, we propose the new type of SIL for high density optical recording systems.
The reaction of dilithio-o-carborane with dipenyl disulfide produces a phenyl thiolated o-carborane and it has been confirmed that there is conformational similarity between the structure of the compound elucidated by X-ray crystallography and that calculated by ab initio and density functional theory.
A numerical hydrodynamic performance analysis of the pitch-type multibody wave energy converter (WEC) is carried out based on both linear potential flow theory and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in the unidirectional wave condition. In the present study, Salter's duck (rotor) is chosen for the analysis. The basic concept of the WEC rotor, which nods when the pressure-induced motions are in phase, is that it converts the kinetic and potential energies of the wave into rotational mechanical energy with the proper power-take-off system. This energy is converted to useful electric energy. The analysis is carried out using three WEC rotors. A multibody analysis using linear potential flow theory is performed using WAMIT (three-dimensional diffraction/radiation potential analysis program), and a CFD analysis is performed by placing three WEC rotors in a numerical wave tank. In particular, the spacing between the three rotors is set to 0.8, 1, and 1.2 times the rotor width, and the hydrodynamic interaction between adjacent rotors is checked. Finally, it is confirmed that the dynamic performance of the rotors slightly changes, but the difference due to the spacing is not noticeable. In addition, the CFD analysis shows a lateral flow phenomenon that cannot be confirmed by linear potential theory, and it is confirmed that the CFD analysis is necessary for the motion analysis of the rotor.

The interaction of monochromatic incident waves with a horizontal flexible membrane is investigated in the context of two-dimensional linear hydro-elastic theory. First, analytic diffraction and radiation solutions for a submerged impermeable horizontal membrane are obtained. Second, the theoretical prediction was compared with a series of experiments conducted in a two-dimensional wave tank at Texas A & M University. The measured reflection and transmission coefficients reasonably follow the trend of predicted values. Using the developed computer program, the performance of surface-mounted or submerged horizontal membrane wave barriers is tested with various system parameters and wave characteristics. It is found that the properly designed horizontal flexible membrane can be an effective wave barrier.

In this paper, the radar cross section of the integrated mast module for battleship is analyzed. The computation program based on physical optics and physical theory of diffraction is developed and the computed results are compared with those of commercial simulator to check the accuracy of computations. The radar cross section is calculated in terms of the mast shape, incident angle, and polarization. The radar cross section can be reduced through the change of the mast slope and the chamfered mast, which can be applied to a mast with a low radar cross section.

The extent of a rectangular conducting plane for measuring electromagnetic interference is discussed. Mutual coupling between the transmit and receive antennas is negligible, the effects of the ground plane on the normalized site attenuation(NSA) are considered by applying GTD(Geometric theory of diffraction). The calculation was done for the case that measuring distance(d) was 3 m for both horizontal and vertical polarizations. As the result, the size of the rectangular ground plane almost never affects upon NSA for horizontal polarization, but for vertical case, when both width and length of the rectangular plane are several times as long as distance, the effects of the edges are reduced under 1 dB.

In this paper, we introduce a method of scattering centers extraction using the polarimetric data. VIRAF software based on the PO (Physical Optics) and PTD(Physical Theory of Diffraction) were used to calculate the surface scattering and the edge or wedge scattering, respectively. In addition, by using the unitary transformation, 4-channel data based on the linear polarization basis were converted to 2-channel data based on the left/vertical-circular polarization basis, leading to data compression coherently. The scattering mechanism was analyzed in terms of the polarization states and different look angles by using the scattering center of a target extracted by the 2D RELAX algorithm.
A novel image quality evaluation method, which is based on combination of the rigorous grating diffraction theory and the ray-optic method, is proposed. It is applied for design optimization and, tolerance analysis of optical imaging systems implementing diffractive optical elements (DOE). The evaluation method can predict the quality and resolution of the image on the image sensor plane through the optical imaging system. Especially, we can simulate the effect of diffraction efficiencies of DOE in the camera lenses module, which is very effective for predicting different color sense and MTF performance. Using this method, we can effectively determine the fabrication tolerances of diffractive and refractive optical elements such as the variations' in profile thickness, and the shoulder of the DOE, as well as conventional parameters such as decenter and tilt in optical-surface alignments. A DOE-based 2M-resolution camera lens module designed by the optimization process based on the proposed image quality evaluation method shows ${\sim}15%$ MTF improvement compared with a design without such an optimization.
In view of the growing medicinal importance of chromene and its derivatives, the single crystal X-ray diffraction study was carried out for the potential active 4,6-dimethyl-9-phenyl-8,12-dioxa-4,6-diazatetracyclo [8.8.0.02,7.013,18]octadeca-2(7),13,15,17-tetraene-3,5,11-trione-2-ethoxyphenyl (2E)-but-2-enoate ($C_{18}H_{20}N_2O_5$). In the title compound are two molecules exist in the asymmetric unit. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group $P2_1/c$ with unit cell dimension a=14.608(3) ${\AA}$, b=12.845(3) and c= 17.781(4) [alpha & gamma=$90^{\circ}$ beta=$91.233(5)^{\circ}$]. Both pyran and pyran ring of the chromene moiety adopts sofa conformation in the molecule A & B. The crystal structure is stabilized by intramolecular C-H...O hydrogen bond interaction.
