절삭력을 이용한 엔드밀링 절입깊이 추정 (Estimation of End Milling Depth of Cuts Using the Cutting Force)

  • In the end milling process, the information of axial and depths of cut plays an important role in adaptive control systems for precision machining and tool monitoring systems for unmanned machining. In general, it is not easy to know the depths of cut due to irregular shape of workpieces, inaccurate positioning of them on the table of machine tool and machining error in previous cutting. In addition to, even they are informed, it is difficult to match the individual position of the cutter on the varying shape of the work material. This work suggest an algorithm estimating the depths of cut based on cutting force sigal. The proposed algorithm can be applied in more extensive cutting situations, for example, presence of the tool wear, variation of work material hardness, etc.

  • This parer proposes fuzzy reasoning algorithm for improvement in Zonal Cavity Method that is difficult to calculate average illumination without lighting scope and reflection factor so on. This parer use fuzzy reasoning algorithm for maintainment of the best illumination in spite of some variation those are influenced of room illumination and cut down the difficult to be calculated used Zonal Cavity Method.

  • Wire-cut EDM is used in Die manufacturing as the part of non-traditional cutting process, But,the determination of it's cutting condition with high efficiency and precision is difficult due to the influence of cutting environment and cutting mechanism. In this study, we examine the cutting performance of the SKD11 and Brass in wire-cut EDM and make the neural network which have the configuration of 5-12-2 and back-propagation learning rule. Through the neural network, we can appraise the cutting performance before working and determine the optimal cutting condition. By introducing this method to the W-cut EDM, we can enhance the cutting efficiency.

  • 도시개발에 있어 도로의 건설은 교통의 목적 외에 전기, 가스, 통신, 난방, 하수, 상수, 오수 등의 도시 편의시설을 위한 공간으로도 활용되고 있다. 하지만 현재 도로 시공과정에서 각 기능에 따른 관련 주체들이 진행되는 공사수행일정에 대한 의사소통이 충분히 이루어지지 않아 재굴착 작업이 빈번히 이루어지고 있으며 이로 인해 예산의 중복투입, 공사기간 지연, 품질저하, 이용자의 불편 등 여러 가지 문제점들이 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 신도시 개발과 같은 대규모의 프로젝트에서 도로 재굴착으로 인한 문제를 사전에 예방하기 위해 시간과 공간데이터를 활용한 재굴착 방지 프로세스 모델을 개발하였으며, 이를 활용하여 도시기반시설 건설주체간 원활한 협의를 돕기 위한 재굴착방지시스템을 개발하였다. 아울러, 개발된 시스템을 개발중인 신도시 건설사업에 활용하여 그 적용성을 검토하였다.

  • In order to reduce the damage of property and the loss of lives caused by slope failure, the development of an efficient cut slope management system and the proposal of an appropriate countermeasure are required. However, recognizing the cause of slope failure and proposing the adequate countermeasure for failure are difficult tasks because slope failure is occurred by many complicated failure reasons. Therefore, the cut slope database system is developed in this study for the effective tool which Is able to analyze the characteristics and relationship for reasons of slope failure. In addition, this system contributes to the curtailment of governmental budget spending for countermeasures of slope. Moreover, GIS system will be adopted to the database system and the investigation of characteristics relationship between one and another area is in progress.

  • 형상최적화는 단면최적화에 비하여 구조물의 중량과 경비를 줄일 수 있다. 많은 양의 애매한 정보가 최적설계 문제의 제약조건에 존재할 수도 있다. 상대적으로 중요한 퍼지정도를 포함한 여러개의 기준을 묘사하고 다루는 것은 매우 어렵고 때로는 애매하다. 본 논문에서는 ${\alpha}$-절단법에 의한 퍼지 구조계의 다목적 형상최적화에 대한 가중치방법을 제안한다. 본 연구의 알고리즘을 2부재 트러스 구조물에 적응하여 그 결과가 검토되었다. 그 결과는 ${\alpha}$-절단법과 체적과 변위에 관한 가중치에 따른 최적해를 얻음으로써 설계자는 실제에 적합한 하나의 해를 택할 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • In the wire cut electrical discharge machining, the optimal machining parameters setting satisfying the requirements of both high efficiency and good quality is very difficult because its process involves a series of complex physical phenomena and the machining parameters are numerous over diverse range. In this paper, the experimental investigation has been performed to find out the influence of the machining parameters on the machining performance such as cutting speed and surface roughness. The selected experimental parameters are no load voltage, discharge peak current and pulse-off time. The experimental results give the guideline for selecting suitable machining parameters.

Flank 마모에 의한 SUS304의 절삭특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the cutting characteristics of SUS304 by flank wear)

  • This expermintal study is intended to investigate he development of flank wear in turning os SUS304 which is used in industrial applications and is acknowledged as a machining difficult material. In cutting process, change of velocity, change of feed, and change of depth of cut were investigated about the effect of flank wear, and slenderness ratio is also investigated. The variations of unit cutting force with the change of rake angle and the change of uncut chip area are observed. The friction angles are calculated for the change friction force and observed. The friction angles are calculated for the change friction force and normal forcd on the different rake angles. From this experimental study, the following results can be said. 1. Under the high cutting speed condition, the flaank wear is affected by the feed and depth of cut, but the influence of feed and depth of cut to the flank wear is reduced when the velocity is low. 2. The smaller slenderness ratio is, the shorter the tool life results in high cutting speed, and the lower cutting speed is, the lower the effect of slenderness ratio to the flank wear is. 3. Using the characteristics of force-RMS, the flank wear of a tool can be detected. There are almost no differences between the RMS characteristics of cutting force and feed force.

A study on the machinability of SUS304

  • SUS304 is wellknown as difficult-to-machine materials. It is easy to appear workhardened, and workhardening is one of the causes of groove wear on the tool. In this paper, the author would like to compare the width of flank wear with that of groove wear, and to find whether the groove wear can be used as a criterion of a tool life. The design of the twelve tests provides three levels for each variable (speed: 200m/min, 118m/min, 70m/min; feed: 0.3mm/rev, 0.17mm/rev, 0.1mm/rev; depth of cut: 0.4mm, 0.28mm, 0.2mm). The study of tool-life testing by statistical technique follows usual most scientific sequence. So the tool-life predicting equation is calculated by the method of least squares. The overall adequacy of the model can be verified by the analysis of variance. The results obtained are as follows : 1) When SUS304 is cut in 200(m/min), the width of flank wear is much larger than that of groove wear. 2) In cutting speed 118m/min, flank wear is a little larger than groove wear and in the cutting speed 70m/min, the latter is a little larger so that it is reasonable to determine the tool life according the crierion by groove wear in the low cutting speed (less than 70m/min). 3) Owing to the burr the depth of engagement along the cutting edge is extended toward the shank.

Ti-6Al-4V 티타늄 합금의 공구 재종에 따른 선삭 특성 (Turning Characteristics of Various Tool Materials in the Machining of Ti-6Al-4V)

  • Titanium and its alloys, due to their superior properties of high specific strength and excellent corrosion resistance, are increasingly used in living applications in the 21century. The applications in aerospace and medical industries demand machining process more frequently to obtain a desired product. But unfortunately, this material is one of the most difficult-to-cut. In the turning process of titanium alloys, the key point for successful work is to select proper tool materials and cutting conditions. This study suggests a guidance for selecting the tool materials and the cutting speeds to improve tool life and surface integrity in Ti-6Al-4V titanium turning process. The experiments investigate the change of surface roughnesses, cutting forces and flank wear with various cutting parameters of tool materials, depth of cuts and feeds. As the results, K10 type of insert tip was assured as the best for turning of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy.
