Observability, Job-Match, and Segmentation of Labor Markets

  • Much of the dual labor markets literature is devoted to exploring the reasons as th why the markets are segmented along the lines where the observed wage differentials are not a result of underlying skill differentials . ; and why otherwise comparable workers different the duration of their job tenure and incidence of unemployment. the logic of competitive economics denies the possibility of equally skilled workers being treated differently in labor markets. The model presented in this paper shows that workers could be segregated quite simply due to the structure of information and job-match quality, even though they are the same in terms of productivity. In general, the model predicts that observability of a worker's productivity and the extent of match specificity are key features of labor market segmentation. An important implication is that the negative from the past labor market experienes, sometimes called as hysteresis effect, helps to restrict mobility of workers among different sectors and results in perpetuation of unemployment in the secondary sector. The model also provides an explanation of the efficient wage scheme in the primary sector.

Microwave Radiometry 원리를 이용한 생체 내부 온도 추정 (Subcutaneous Temperature Estimation By Microwave Radiometry)

  • Microwave Radiometry is the spectral measurement of eleclromagnetic radiation at frequency bands in the microwave region. One particular application of Microwave Radiometry is for analyzing temperature difffrentials of inside of human body to detect and diagnose pathologic conditions in which the temperature differentials are related with the symptoms of certain diseases. To accomplish this aim, we propose a new calibration method for estimating subcutaneous temperature by Microwave Radiometer and we also suggest a tumor-imitator phantom structure for simulating heat diffusion propagated by tissues around tumors to evaluate the discernment of brighuless temperature difffrentials.

성별 임금격차의 차이와 차별

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the real causes of gender wage differentials in Korea by analyzing changes over the period from 1984 to 1999. The participation rate of women in the Korean labor force has gradually increased since 1963, reaching 47.4 percent as of 1999. This increase can be attributed to more active participation by women of all ages, except those aged 15-19, as a result of their enrollment in higher level education. In particular, a remarkable rise in labor market participation was achieved by those aged 25-29. On the other hand, the ratio of female workers earnings to that of male workers has increased from 45.1 percent in 1972 to 63.1 percent in 1999. However, when the gender wage differentials are decomposed into various factors, it is found that discrimination components against female workers, compared to the skills or productivity characteristics, played a greater role for the 1994 to 1999 period.

  • Recently, serious cracking problems have been reported in this country while the process of actual massive concrete construction. he hydration heat arising from the chemical reaction of cement with water causes temperature differentials in between inside and outside of a structural member, and these temperature differentials induce thermal stresses. In this paper, we described on the practical application and quality control of the mass concrete mixed with fly-ash. This project is investigating adiabatic temperature rise test of concrete, mock-up test in the laboratory, ad B/P before placing the mass concrete in site. As a result, we can be prevent temperature cracking from the cement hydration heat of mass concrete and also can be showed up secure quality control flow chart of mass concrete.

Monetary Policy Independence during Reversal Phases of Domestic-Foreign Interest Rate Differentials

  • This study examines how the independence of monetary policy changes in situations where the interest rate differential between domestic and foreign rates inverts, utilizing the trilemma indices. For analysis, this paper uses the trilemma indices developed by Kim et al. (2017) to analyze the relationship between the monetary policy independence index and the other two trilemma indices, namely the capital account openness index and the exchange rate stability index, across 45 countries from 2002 to 2018. The analysis reveals that the trilemma's validity is contingent. In particular, no statistically significant negative correlation was found between the monetary policy independence index and exchange rate stability index during periods of interest rate differential inversion. A positive correlation emerges between exchange rate stability and the independence of monetary policy, particularly when the inverted interest rate differential exceeds a certain threshold. This situation, where the exchange rate remains stable despite low domestic interest rates, implies that the central bank is effectively managing monetary policy to appropriately respond to economic conditions, which is reflected in the monetary policy independence index.

입직 과정에서의 희망직장 선택이 임금에 미치는 영향 분석 (Estimation of Wage Differentials Caused by the Selection of Preferred Job)

  • 이 글은 근로자가 직장을 선택하는 과정에서 원하는 직장을 선택하는지 여부가 근로자와 일자리의 일치도를 나타내는 데 한 지표로 활용될 수 있다는 점에 착안하여, 그러한 입직 과정에서의 희망직장 선택 여부가 근로자의 임금에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고자 한다. 특히 이 글에서는 패널 자료를 활용하여 근로자의 비관측된 이질성이 임금에 미치는 영향을 통제할 수 있는 모형을 제시하고, 그를 한국노동패널 조사의 3개년 조사 결과에 적용하여 희망직장의 선택 여부에 따른 임금격차를 계산하였다. 그 결과 우리는 희망직장의 선택 여부에 따라 약 50% 이상의 임금격차가 발생함을 발견할 수 있었으며, 이러한 임금격차가 전통적인 임금격차의 설명틀로 설명될 수 없다는 점에서 일자리에서의 생산성 격차가 그 원인일 가능성을 제기하였다. 이 경우 이러한 가능성에 대한 분석이 이뤄지지 않았다는 점은 이 글의 한계로 지적될 수 있으며, 추후 연구를 통해 규명되어야 할 것으로 보인다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이 글의 분석 결과는 직업알선 활동의 개선을 통해 경제 효율성이 증대될 수 있으리라는 점을 시사하는 것으로 보인다.

잔디밭 잡초 바랭이(Digitaria sp.)의 종내 및 종간 변이성 (Inter-and Interspecific Variation in Smooth(D. ischaemum) and Large Crabgrass (D. sanguinalis))

  • 잔디밭에 문제시되는 1년생 화본과 잡초인 바랭이(Digitaria sp.)의 종내 및 종간 변이성을 D. ischaemum과 D. Sanguinalis의 5개 지역종을 대상으로 생육상과 포장조건에서 알아보았다. 포장실험결과 D. sanguinalis와 D. ischaemum의 종내 또는 종간의 잎의 길이와 폭 등을 포함한 형태적 형질에 관련된 유의한 변이성이 관찰되었다. 하지만, 표현형적 변이성에는 실질적 차이는 인정되지 않아 포장조건에서 최초발아시기는 종간 또는 지역종에 관계없이 동일하였다. 4가지의 주야간 온도 차이(25/$25^{\circ}C$, 27.5S/22.5$^{\circ}C$, 30/2$0^{\circ}C$, 15/35$^{\circ}C$)로 조절된 생육상 조건의 실험에서 각 바랭이 종의 발아소요일수에 관한 종간 또는 종내의 변이성은 없었다. 따라서, 잔디밭에서 효율적인 바랭이 방제를 위해 특정지역에서 최초 발아시기에 관련된 예측모델은 타 지역에도 동일하게 적용 가능할 것으로 생각된다.
