CRYSTALLIZATION KINETICS OF Fe-Si-B-Cu-Nb AMORPHOUS RIBBONS

  • The crystallization kinetics of $Fe_{73.5}Si_{13.5}B_{9}Cu_{1}Nb_{3}$ amorphous alloy has been investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The crystallization process had two stages, i.e. precipitation of the $\alpha$-Fe(Si) solid solution and the tetragonal borides. The isothermal transformation data of the amorphous alloy has been fitted successfully to the generalized Johnson-Mehl-Avrami equation. The mean time exponent, n, obtained is close to 2.5. The value of n=2.5 may be interpreted as being due to a diffusion-controlled transformation process with a constant nucleation rate, one likely transformation mode for the crystallization of metallic amorphous alloys. The activation energy of the overall crystallization process deduced from the time to 50% crystallization are about 81 kcal/mole. The value is of the same order as those estimated from viscous flow.

  • 1.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ surface-emitting GaInAsP/InP LED was fabricated by two-phase supercooling LPE technique. The lattice mismatch of the grown DH wafer was typically 0.03%. The processes involve SiO2 CVD, lithography, Zn diffusion, lift-off, lapping, annealing, and wire bonding. The fabricated LED shows the optical power of 600㎼ at 70mA driving current, differential resistance of 4$\Omega$, the f3dB of 35MHz, and the FWHM of 1040{{{{ ANGSTROM }}. The peak wavelength of the fabricated LED was at 1.29${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$(100mA).

  • The cure properties of ethoxysilyl bisphenol A type epoxy resin (Ethoxysilyl-DGEBA) systems with different hardeners were investigated, comparing with DGEBA and Diallyl-DGEBA epoxy resin systems. The cure kinetics of these systems were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry with an isothermal approach, and the kinetic parameters of all systems were reported in generalized kinetic equations with diffusion effects. The Ethoxysilyl-DGEBA epoxy resin system showed lower cure conversion rates than DGEBA and Diallyl-DGEBA epoxy resin systems. The conversion rates of these epoxy resin systems with DDM hardener are lower than those with HF-1M hardener. It can be considered that the optimum hardener for Ethoxysilyl-DGEBA epoxy resin system is Phenol Novolac type. These lower cure conversion rates in the Ethoxysilyl-DGEBA epoxy resin systems could be explained by the retardation of reaction molecule movements according to the formation of organic-inorganic hybrid network structure by epoxy and ethoxysilyl group in Ethoxysilyl- DGEBA epoxy resin system.

An Improved Pseudorandom Sequence Generator and its Application to Image Encryption

  • This paper proposes an improved Pseudorandom Sequence Generator (PRSG) based on the concept of modular arithmetic systems with non-integral numbers. The generated random sequence use in various cryptographic applications due to its unpredictability. Here the mathematical model is designed to solve the problem of the non-uniform distribution of the sequences. In addition, PRSG has passed the standard statistical and empirical tests, which shows that the proposed generator has good statistical characteristics. Finally, image encryption has been performed based on the sort-index method and diffusion processing to obtain the encrypted image. After a thorough evaluation of encryption performance, there has been no direct association between the original and encrypted images. The results show that the proposed PRSG has good statistical characteristics and security performance in cryptographic applications.

THE PRICING OF VULNERABLE FOREIGN EXCHANGE OPTIONS UNDER A MULTISCALE STOCHASTIC VOLATILITY MODEL

  • Foreign exchange options are derivative financial instruments that can exchange one currency for another at a prescribed exchange rate on a specified date. In this study, we examine the analytic formulas for vulnerable foreign exchange options based on multi-scale stochastic volatility driven by two diffusion processes: a fast mean-reverting process and a slow mean-reverting process. In particular, we take advantage of the asymptotic analysis and the technique of the Mellin transform on the partial differential equation (PDE) with respect to the option price, to derive approximated prices that are combined with a leading order price and two correction term prices. To verify the price accuracy of the approximated solutions, we utilize the Monte Carlo method. Furthermore, in the numerical experiments, we investigate the behaviors of the vulnerable foreign exchange options prices in terms of model parameters and the sensitivities of the stochastic volatility factors to the option price.

인공경량골재 콘크리트의 수분이동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Moisture Transport of Artificial Lightweight Concrete)

  • 다공성 경량골재의 사전흡수수에 따른 콘크리트 수축 저감 효과의 정량적 평가와 부등수축해석모델 상수 제공을 위한 첫번째 단계로서, 수분이동모델을 설정하고 이에 따른 수분이동 특성상수인 유효수분확산계수, 수분용량, 습도공급도, 습도소모도를 물-결합재비, 골재 종류를 변수로 하여 측정하였다. 콘크리트 내, 외부 습도차에 의한 정상상태에서의 유효수분확산계수는 물-결합재비가 낮을수록 낮은 값을 나타내었으며 동일한 물-결합재비인 경우 일반골재를 사용한 배합이 경량골재를 사용한 배합보다 낮은 유효수분확산계수값을 나타내었다. 콘크리트 내 수분의 저장 능력 즉, 수분용량을 산정하기 위해 9가지 습도에서 콘크리트의 수분량을 측정하였으며 경량골재를 사용한 배합이 일반골재를 사용한 배합보다 모든 습도조건에서 수분량이 크게 나타났다. 일반 대기환경 습도 50% 이상 조건에서 적용할 수 있는 경량골재의 습도공급도를 측정하여 정량화 하였으며, 경량골재에서의 수분 방출량은 주변 습도에 반비례하고 시간에 비례하는 뚜렷한 경향을 나타내는 지수함수의 형태로 설정하였다. 시멘트 수화 자기건조에 의한 수분의 내부소모에 따른 콘크리트 내 습도소모도를 측정하였으며, 측정결과 물-결합재비 0.3의 경우 7~10일 이내의 초기재령에서 약 10% 내외의 급격한 습도감소를 나타내었으며 물-결합재비 0.4, 0.5의 경우 완만한 형태로 약 5%, 1% 내외의 습도 감소를 나타내었다.

미분층반응기에서 양이온 교환수지에 의한 카드뮴(II)의 제거 (Removal of Cd(II) by Cation Exchange Resin in Differential Bed Reactor)

  • 본 연구는 흡착에 의한 Cd(II)의 제거를 위하여 일본 Diaion사에서 제조되고 있는 강산성양이온 교환수지(SK1B)를 흡착제로 사용하여 흡착평형실험, 탈착실험 및 흡착속도실험을 수행하였다. 흡착평형실험에서는 흡착능에 미치는 pH와 온도의 영향을 알아보았고 흡착등온식을 산출하였으며, 탈착실험에서는 재생회수에 대한 수지의 재생율의 변화에 대해서 알아보았다. 흡착속도실험에서는 수지를 미분층 반응기에 채워 유량별로 초기제거속도를 구하여 경막저항이 최소가 되는 최적유량을 구하였으며, 이 최적유량에서 흡착속도실험을 수행하여 총괄흡착속도식을 구하였다. 용액의 pH를 변화(2~7)시켜 제조하여 수지를 투여한 결과 pH가 증가할수록 흡착능이 증가하였으며 pH 6 이상에서는 흡착능이 일정한 경향을 나타내었다. 흡착능에 미치는 온도의 영향은 $10{\sim}50^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 온도가 증가할수록 흡착능도 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 회분식실험을 통해 얻은 자료를 각 흡착등온식에 적용해 본 결과 본 실험의 농도 영역(5~15ppm)에서는 Freundlich 흡착등온식과 Sips 흡착등온식이 Langmuir 흡착등온식보다 더 %편차가 적었다. 탈착제로서 0.01~2N 농도의 HCl 수용액을 사용할 경우에는 탈착제의 농도가 진할수록 흡착제의 재생율이 높았으며 재생 반복회수가 늘어날수록 재생율이 약간씩 감소하였다. 미분층 반응기를 이용한 연속공정실험($25{\pm}5^{\circ}C$)에서 경막확산저항이 최소가 되는 최적유량 $564m{\ell}/min$에서 수행한 수지에 대한 Cd(II) 수용액의 총괄흡착속도식은 다음과 같이 표현될 수 있다. $r=1.3785C_{fc}^{1.2421}-2.0907{\times}10^{0.0746C_i}\;q_e^{0.0121C_i-0.0301}$

  • 본 연구에서는 시차주사열량계(differential scanning calorimetry, DSC)를 이용하여 유리섬유로 보강된 BPA계 에폭시 프리프레그의 경화 거동을 확인하였다. 기지재로 사용된 에폭시 수지의 전체 발열량(${\Delta}H_{total}=280.3J/g$)을 측정하기 위해 승온 실험을 하였다. $110{\sim}130^{\circ}C$ 등온 조건에서 측정된 발열량을 통해 높은 온도 조건일수록 최대 전환율과 최대 반응 속도가 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 에폭시 프리프레그의 자기 촉매 반응을 해석하기 위해 Kamal 방정식을 적용하였으며 높은 온도 조건에서 반응 속도 상수($k_1$, $k_2$)가 큰 값으로 나타났다. 이때 얻어진 반응 속도 상수를 이용해 계산한 이론 추정치와 실험치를 비교한 결과 잘 부합하는 것을 확인하였다. 반응 초기에는 두 값이 유사하나 반응이 최종 단계에서는 반응 속도가 확산에 의해 결정되는 현상으로 인해 반응 속도의 실험치가 이론 추정치보다 더 작은 반응 속도 값을 가짐을 확인하였다.

An Image Encryption Scheme Based on Concatenated Torus Automorphisms

  • A novel, chaotic map that is based on concatenated torus automorphisms is proposed in this paper. As we know, cat map, which is based on torus automorphism, is highly chaotic and is often used to encrypt information. But cat map is periodic, which decreases the security of the cryptosystem. In this paper, we propose a novel chaotic map that concatenates several torus automorphisms. The concatenated mechanism provides stronger chaos and larger key space for the cryptosystem. It is proven that the period of the concatenated torus automorphisms is the total sum of each one's period. By this means, the period of the novel automorphism is increased extremely. Based on the novel, concatenated torus automorphisms, two application schemes in image encryption are proposed, i.e., 2D and 3D concatenated chaotic maps. In these schemes, both the scrambling matrices and the iteration numbers act as secret keys. Security analysis shows that the proposed, concatenated, chaotic maps have strong chaos and they are very sensitive to the secret keys. By means of concatenating several torus automorphisms, the key space of the proposed cryptosystem can be expanded to $2^{135}$. The diffusion function in the proposed scheme changes the gray values of the transferred pixels, which makes the periodicity of the concatenated torus automorphisms disappeared. Therefore, the proposed cryptosystem has high security and they can resist the brute-force attacks and the differential attacks efficiently. The diffusing speed of the proposed scheme is higher, and the computational complexity is lower, compared with the existing methods.

Selective Fluidization of Synaptosomal Plasma Membrane Vesicles by 17β-Estradiol

  • Estrogens are effective neuroprotectants in vivo and in vitro. To obtain a better insight into the molecular mechanisms of action of neuroprotection by $17{\beta}-estradiol$ (E2), we examined the differential effects of E2 on the fluidity of synaptosomal plasma membrane vesicles (SPMV) isolated from rat cerebral cortex. Intramolecular excimerization of 1,3-di(1-pyrenyl)-propane (Py-3-Py) was used to investigate the effects of E2 on the bulk and annular lateral diffusion of the SPMV. In addition, we examined the effects of E2 on the rotational diffusion of individual leaflet of SPMV exploiting selective quenching of outer monolayer 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH) fluorescence by trinitrophenyl groups. The $F{\ddot{o}}rster$ distance $R_0$ value for the tryptophan-Py-3-Py donor-acceptor pair was $26.9{\AA}$. E2 increased the lateral mobility of both bulk and annular lipids in SPMV in a dose-dependent manner, but a larger effect on bulk lipids was observed. Although E2 decreased the anisotropy of DPH in SPMV, E2 had a greater fluidizing effect on the outer leaflet compared to the inner leaflet. These results suggest that E2 selectively fluidizes the more fluid regions within SPMV. It is highly probable that E2 mostly fluidizes the bulk lipids, away from either annular lipids or lipid rafts, in the outer leaflet of SPMV. This selective fluidization may be one of the nongenomic mechanisms of neuroprotection by E2.
