  • In the actual classroom the so-called flow learning is able to motivate the students through face-to-face feedback, and to meet their needs for educational achievement. By contrast, the so-called e-learning method falls short of the satisfactory level of real-life interaction, which makes many learners drop out or give up on their learning. In order to better the e-learning environment, this study presents a dialogue-based feedback system that improves the flow learning of the learners' in the classroom. This newly developed system was applied at the actual school. The result is that the experimented group improved its flow learning, compared with the controlled group. In the former group, each individual showed some consciousness of objective and challenge following the concrete feedback. That is to say, this system enhances the attitude of an active participation and induces the flow learning, thanks to the dialogue-based feedback and the sustained interest in learning. In conclusion, the significance of this study lies in suggesting the direction of a new learning method development in the e-learning environment.

  • For sustainable and responsible development of nanotechnology, the risk issues in nanomaterials must be properly addressed despite the lack of relevant knowledge and regulations. In this paper, 'Nanosmile' as an example of web-based tool for education and dialogue for the risk issues, is introduced. First developed at Atomic Energy Commissary (CEA) for in-house training, Nanosmile was integrated to European project NanoSafe2 in 2006 and evolved into an interactive website opening to the public at large. The feedback during the training process, perspectives and limitations of the website are also presented.

  • On our return to India from Germany, we have worked on the development of parabolic solar concentrators with input and collaboration of German and Austrian inventors. We have gradually improved the solar technologies to include food processing based on inputs and feedback from users to fulfill their specific requirements. We will discuss the acceptability and commercialisation of various systems that we have successfully developed, their implications and their benefit. These success stories can work as multipliers. These concentrators can have various other applications. The Global Treaty Kyoto Protocol's CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) can result in a win-win situation for both developing and developed nations and the world environment at large - whereby developed nations get carbon credits by supporting renewable energy projects in developing nations. North-South dialogue and South-South dialogue can effectively foster global co-operation meaningfully to benefit People and environments ensuring sustainable development and protection of Our planet Earth, our only HOME!!!

  • In this research, we have developed a "computer tutor" that mimics the human tutor with animated tutoring dialog agent and the agent was integrated to teaching-learning material for elementary science subject. The developed system is a natural language based teaching-learning system using one-to-one dialogue. The developed pedagogical dialogue teaching-learning system analysis student's answer then provides appropriate answer or questions after comparing the student's answer with elementary school level achievement. When the agent gives either question or answer it uses the TTS(Text-to-Speech) function. Also the agent has an animated human tutor face for providing more human like feedback. The developed dialogue interface has been applied to 64 6th grade students. The test results show that the test group's average score is higher than the control group by 10.797. This shows that unlike conventional web courseware, our approach that "ask-answer" process and the animated character, which has human tutor's emotional expression, attracts students and helps to immerse to the courseware.

  • This presents an English conversation training system with which learners train their conversation skills in English, which makes them converse with native speaker characters in a virtual reality environment with voice. The proposed system allows the learners to talk with multiple native speaker characters in varous scenarios in the virtual reality environment. It recongizes voices spoken by the learners and generates voices by a speech synthesis method. The interaction with characters in the virtual reality environment in voice makes the learners immerged in the conversation situations. The scoring system which evaluates the learner's pronunciation provides the positive feedback for the learners to get engaged in the learning context.

  • Adaptive has gained significant attention in Education Technology (EdTech), with personalized learning experiences becoming increasingly important. Next-generation chatbots, including models like ChatGPT, are emerging in the field of education. These advanced tools show great potential for delivering personalized and adaptive learning experiences. This paper reviews previous research on adaptive learning and the role of chatbots in education. Based on this, the paper explores current and future chatbot technologies to propose a framework for using ChatGPT or similar chatbots in adaptive learning. The framework includes personalized design, targeted resources and feedback, multi-turn dialogue models, reinforcement learning, and fine-tuning. The proposed framework also considers learning attributes such as age, gender, cognitive ability, prior knowledge, pacing, level of questions, interaction strategies, and learner control. However, the proposed framework has yet to be evaluated for its usability or effectiveness in practice, and the applicability of the framework may vary depending on the specific field of study. Through proposing this framework, we hope to encourage learners to more actively leverage current technologies, and likewise, inspire educators to integrate these technologies more proactively into their curricula. Future research should evaluate the proposed framework through actual implementation and explore how it can be adapted to different domains of study to provide a more comprehensive understanding of its potential applications in adaptive learning.

About the Multi-layered Communication of Princess Pari on the Webtoon Platform of Daum -Focusing on Analysis of Narrative Structure and Comments (Daum 웹툰 <바리공주>를 통해 본 고전 기반 웹툰 콘텐츠의 다층적 대화 양상 -서사구조와 댓글 분석을 중심으로)

  • This article analyzes the multi-layered communication in the Webtoon Princess Pari, released on the Daum portal site, created (written and illustrated) by Kim Naim, through analyzing the narrative structure and comments with the qualitative / quantitative methodology. The webtoon Princess Pari is structured in an omnibus style in which unit narratives are intermittently articulated, multi-lined, and interconnected. As integrated narratives which link with unitary narratives, Pari's growth story as a shaman and a romance narrative are structured. The classical original story of the shaman was used as a prehistory corresponding to the prequel of the webtoon through a preview, and the writer restructured the narrative to overcome the contradictions of the gender asymmetry and the patriarchal ideology of the original text. The viewer then creates a conversational space by giving critical and reflective comments. According to a statistical analysis conducted through sampling, the types of comments can be classified as follows: Appreciation and criticism of the contents ≫ Emotional response ≫ Intuitive overall review ≫ Knowledge and reflection ≫ Comments on comments. In the process of creation and acceptance of the Webtoon, a multi-layered dialogue between classical and modern, content and audience, acceptance and creation has been at play. In the creation dimension, the writer used a device to fill the gap of mythical symbols of the contents. At the level of the audience, they formed a culture of sharing information, knowledge, and reflection about tradition/folk/culture through comments. This corresponds to classical and modern dialogue through the webtoon. The viewers form a sympathetic bond, attempt hermeneutical coordination, supplement the information, and search for a balanced angle through controversial conversation. In addition, by commenting on attitudes, views, and perspective, the commentators showed a behavioral pattern corresponding to meta-criticism in literature. The viewers' comments acted as feedback on the creation of the webtoons, so that the creation and acceptance itself influenced the production of the content of the webtoon. The webtoon Princess Pari, which was based on Korean classical narrative, has been reorganized onto 'moving and dynamic' content, which leads to sense, thinking, criticism and reflection through the formation of various dialogues.
