평판형 디지털 엑스레이 가스 검출기의 엑스선 특성 측정기술에 관한 연구 (X-ray properties measurement of Flat panel Digital X-ray gas detector)

  • 최근 의료진단 분야와 다른 적용분야를 위해 대면적 매트릭스 구조의 엑스선 영상이 활발하게 연구되어 오고 있다. 본 연구에서는, 의료진단을 위한 새로운 평판형 디지털 엑스선 가스 검출기를 제안하고 그에 따른 특성을 검증하고자 한다. 대기압에 반해 가스를 주입하는 어려움 때문에 챔버 형태의 구조로 만들어 질 뿐, 평판형 디지털 엑스선 가스 검출기는 아직 어디에서도 연구된 바 없다. 이에 본 연구에서는 디스플레이 패널 제작 기술을 이용하여 샘플제작을 성공하였다. 실험적인 측정을 위해 만들어진 샘플은 상판에는 유리기판위에 전극, 절연층, 산화마그네슘 보호막을 형성하였으며, 하판에는 엑스선 형광층과 전극을 형성하였다. 누설전류와 엑스선 민감도를 측정하였으며, 전기장에 대한 민감도의 선형성 측정 등의 전기적 특성평가를 실시하였다. 이에 대한 결과로 안정된 누설전류와 엑스선 민감도를 얻었다. 그리고 조사 선량에 따라 좋은 선형성을 보이는 등 넓은 진단 동적영역을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과로 평판형 엑스선 가스 검출기의 디지털 엑스선 영상 검출기로의 적용 가능성을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • 총 5대를 대상으로 한 진단용X선발생장치(DR)는 IEC 60601-2-54 표준규격에서 제시한 방사선출력의 재현성 시험에서 4대가 적합으로 나타났으며, 다만 1대의 X선 장치에서 C Group의 시험 설정인 진단용X선장치의 최고 관전압의 50%와 관전류 시간 곱(mAs)이 $1{\mu}Gy$에서 $5{\mu}Gy$ 사이의 인가출력량의 조합으로 측정한 항목에서 부적합으로 나타났다. 이에 따라 방사선량을 정량화하기 위한 표준으로 IEC 60601-2-54 표준규격에서 제시한 방사선출력의 재현성이 진단용 X선 영상장치 성능관리에 중요한 평가 요소임을 인식해야 한다.

  • 의료에 사용되는 X선 장치는 안정적인 전원이 공급되는 곳에 설치되어 사용되어지는 고정형과 환자가 있는 장소로 이동하여 촬영이 가능한 이동형으로 구분된다. 이동형 X선 장치에 대표적으로 사용되는 모바일 X선 장치는 공간상의 제약을 벗어나 매우 유용하게 사용이 가능하다. 하지만 고전압의 발생이 어려워 X선의 출력이 낮은 주로 손과 발의 촬영에 주로 응용된다. 본 연구에서는 인체의 진단영역에 제한을 가지지 않는 대용량의 모바일 X선 장치를 설계, 제작하여 부하변동에 따른 기기의 동작 특성을 확인하였다.

Radiation attenuation and elemental composition of locally available ceramic tiles as potential radiation shielding materials for diagnostic X-ray rooms

  • Ceramic materials are being explored as alternatives to toxic lead sheets for radiation shielding due to their favorable properties like durability, thermal stability, and aesthetic appeal. However, crafting effective ceramics for radiation shielding entails complex processes, raising production costs. To investigate local viability, this study evaluated Malaysian ceramic tiles for shielding in diagnostic X-ray rooms. Different ceramics in terms of density and thickness were selected from local manufacturers. Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) characterized ceramic compositions, while Monte Carlo Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System (MC PHITS) simulations determined Linear Attenuation Coefficient (LAC), Half-value Layer (HVL), Mass Attenuation Coefficient (MAC), and Mean Free Path (MFP) within the 40-150 kV energy range. Comparative analysis between MC PHITS simulations and real setups was conducted. The C3-S9 ceramic sample, known for homogeneous full-color structure, showcased superior shielding attributes, attributed to its high density and iron content. Notably, energy levels considerably impacted radiation penetration. Overall, C3-S9 demonstrated strong shielding performance, underlining Malaysia's potential ceramic tile resources for X-ray room radiation shielding.

Analysis of Radiation Exposure Dose according to Location Change during Radiation Irradiation

  • During an X-ray examination, the beam of radiation is dispersed in many directions. We believe that managing radiation dose is about providing transparency to users and patients in the accurate investigation and analysis of radiation dose. The purpose of measuring the radiation dose as a function of location is to ensure that medical personnel using the equipment or participating in the operating room are minimally harmed by the different radiation doses depending on their location. Four mobile diagnostic X-ray units were used to analyze the radiation dose depending on the spatial location. The image intensifier and the flat panel detector type that receives the image analyzed the dose by angle to measure the distribution of the exposure dose by location. The radiation equipment used was composed of four units, and measuring devices were installed according to the location. The X-ray (C-arm) was measured by varying the position from 0 to 360 degrees, and the highest dose was measured at the center position based on the abdominal position, and the highest dose was measured at the 90° position for the head position when using the image intensifier equipment. The operator or medical staff can see that the radiation dose varies depending on the position of the diagnostic radiation generator. In the image intensifier and flat panel detector type that accepts images, the dose by angle was analyzed for the distribution of exposed dose by position, and the measurement method should be changed according to the provision of dose information that is different from the dose output from the equipment according to the position.

IPEM Report-78의 엑스선 스펙트럼을 이용한 방사선 방호장비의 차폐율 계산 (Calculation of Shielding Rate of Radiation Protective Equipment Using the X-ray Spectrum of IPEM Report-78)

  • 본 연구에서는 IPEM(The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine) Report 78의 진단용 엑스선 발생장치에서 방출되는 엑스선 스펙트럼 데이터를 이용하여 의료 환경에서 사용되는 주요 엑스선 방호장비의 차폐율을 계산하고, 방사선 방호분야 적용가능성을 알아보았다. 진단용 엑스선 방호에 이용되는 납 앞치마(0.3 mmPb), 갑상샘 차폐체(0.5 mmPb), 납 고글(0.5 mmPb), 납 유리(1.8, 2.7, 3.3 mmPb)를 대상으로 에어커마와 엑스선 총강도의 감소율을 통해 방사선 차폐율을 계산하였다. 그 결과 에어커마 감소율로 계산한 차폐율은 80 kV에서 96.31~100 %범위였고, 120 kV에서는 90.35~100%범위로 나타났다. 또한 본 계산의 결과가 실제 차폐율 측정한 선행연구결과와 잘 일치하여 IPEM Report 78의 엑스선 스펙트럼 데이터가 방사선 방호에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

자동현상 지능화 보충방식의 임상적응에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Clinical Application of Intelligent Replenishment System of Automatic X-ray Film Processor Based on Film Density)

  • To inquire its usefulness of the clinical application of intelligent replenishment system of automatic X-ray film processor based on film density, we processed the serial 300 sheets of radiographic film of chest [$14{\times}14"$, HR-C type] and bone [elbow & ankle($8{\times}10"$), skull($10{\times}12"$), hand & foot($11{\times}14"$), pelvis($14{\times}17"$), HR-G type, 68, 70, 77, 85 sheets respectively]. We analyzed the characteristic corves, relative speeds, average gradients and base plus fog densities every twenty five sheets. We also evaluated the developer and fixer replenishment volumes every that time. In the chest and bone radiograph two all, the characteristic curves were little change, and the relative speeds, average gradients and base plus fog densities were within the maximum control limits. The average developer replenishment volumes were about 43m1/sheet and 39m1/sheet respectively. It brings decreased results about 29% in comparison with the conventional replenishment system. In our experiences, we conclude that the intelligent replenishment system of automatic X-ray film processor based on film density maintains image quality consistently, decreases also the replenishment volumes. Therefore, this system will be resulted in economic and environmental effects, and solve problems of over and low replenishment volume.

  • This work characterized in terms of the physical properties of heavy elements as reduction filter in the diagnostic radiology. From the results of experimental evaluation, it was founded that in the case of the Ho filter, the variety of X-ray property with kVp was less than those of Ba, Cu and Al. And the ratio of transit-dose to surface and the load of X-ray tube were increased in the order of Al, Ba, Cu and Ho. The contrast of X-ray image showed the higher value in the order of Cu, Al, Ba and Ho.

  • In appilcation of wide latitude HR-C film to chest x-ray examination, former x-ray diagnosis area is larger and diagnostic information has great deal of promotion. HR-C film is compare to former x-ray film is larger latitude and density level is small, reading is very easily. Especially, high estimate that is in characteristic curve linearity of toe part is good, contrast of low density made good shape and not good describe to overlap is diagnostic information increase mediastinum portion etc.

  • The quality of continuous X-ray beam depends upon the half value layer which varies according to the geometric conditions, filtration thickness, and tube voltage. We compared the inverter type X-ray equipment with the conventional single phase 2 peak and the three phase 12 peak for the quality obtained by changes of the added filter thickness and the tube voltage. The quality of single phase 2 peak X-ray generator showed increase for the added filter and the tube volt-age. The half value layer is Increased the thicker the filter and the higher the kVp. The quality of the Inverter type and the three phase 12 peak in comparison with the single phase 2 peak X-ray generator is increased.
