  • The sanitation inspection is the most frequently used procedure to protect foods prepared in foodservice establishments. In order to enhance foodservioe inspections and to improve post-inspection remedial measures, more practical evaluation methods for sanitation are required. The HACCP approach is based upon factors which contribute to foodborne disease rather than on factors which relate to aesthetics. Contributing factors for foodborne disease from foodservice establishments reported in USA, Canada, and England were analyzed to identify potential hazards during practical foodservioe operations. Hazards were classified at critical control points by risk ranking. Twenty-two observable practical indicators relating to each contributing factor were selected and adjusted to standardized procedures and hazard determiners at critical contral points. The weights for each inspection item were ranked as 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 according to the risk level of contributing factors. And also application for the inspection item in different 6 types of work procedures was suggested for the use of specialized foodservice establishment and cafeteria, and of manager's self inspection in each establishment.

  • This study were attempted to apply the HACCP system adopted in the dried anchovy workplace to ensure the hygiene safety of dried anchovy workplace. In this study, HACCP system procedures, including HACCP team organization, determination of critical control point(CCP), establishment of critical limits, mornitering and verification etc., were established using KFDA 12 procedures. To determine whether hazards were critical elements, we evaluated the likelihood and seriousness of each hazard element. The likelihood of residual microorganism and metal piece exceeding the acceptable limit in dried anchovy products were demonstrated to be a critical hazard element. Management of the boiling(CCP-1B) and metal detection(CCP-2P) were determined to be a critical control point. The standards for acceptable residual microorganism and metal piece were set based on relevant laws and regulations, and then the limits were adapted and established for the CCP. An HACCP plan applicable to dried anchovy workplace was established.

  • Most of the disaster situation management system is focusing in the providing the situational information to support the decision of the commander. The information includes the sensing, CCTV, and weather data. Additionally, the reporting from the field agents is an axle of the data. These systems has weak in the field response capacities about the detail mission management to field agents. In this study, we focus in the development of the integrated model for SOP(Standard Operation Procedures) and situation information management.

  • The identification step of raw drug materials is an indispensible procedure in the GMP manufacturing process within the pharmaceutical industry. However, wet chemistry methods for identification of drug materials, used by the various Pharmacopeia are time-consuming and expensive steps. In this paper, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has been developed for identifying eleven drug substances including calcium pantothenate, cefaclor, cefoperazone, cephradine, dextromethorphan, ehtambutol, nicotinamide, pyrozinamide, tramadol, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Also the aim of ths work is to consturct a new algorithm for calibration model using soft independence modeling of class analogy (SIMCA) with Malinowskis Indicator Function (IND), which is used for finding the number of principal components of each class of the SIMACA model. The use of NIR technique with pattern recognition to qualify raw materials can make it possible to monitor process in real time as well as to control all procedures in the pharmaceutical industry. As the result, the samples identified of 183 different batches from 11 different compounds were separated clearly by SIMCA with 2nd derivative spectra in the NIR region of 1100∼2400 nm.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop evaluation indicators for academic libraries in Korea. The evaluation model developed in this research consists of three elements:(1) Confirmation of evaluation methods, procedures and criteria,(2) Development of qualitative and quantitative evaluation indicators, and(3) Assessment of the applicability and feasibility of those indicators. Evaluation indicators were developed to measure a basic state, a common use of library resources, specialized services, and user satisfaction for academic libraries. To test the feasibility and applicability of those evaluation indicators, a pilot assessment of academic libraries was conducted in 2010.

  • A series of design, theoretical analysis and model test procedures is presented for the development of an axisymmetric stator-propeller system. A preswirl stator is located in front of a propeller in order to improve the propulsion efficiency by cancellation of the slip stream rotational velocity due to the propeller. Model test results show that propulsion efficiency gain due to the symmetric stator-propeller system is about 3% compared to the single propeller. This efficiency gain would increase for full scale application since the pressure drag coefficient of the stator would decrease due to increasement of turbulent intensity behind the hull wake and increasement of Reynolds number.

  • By studying 3-D virtual human modeling, motion-capturing and clothing simulation for easier and safer work clothes development, this research aimed (1) to categorize heavy manufacturing work motions; (2) to generate a 3-D virtual male model and establish painting work motions within a 3-D virtual clothing simulation system through computerized body scanning and motion-capturing; and finally (3) to suggest simulated clothing images of painting work clothes developed based on virtual male avatar body measurements by implementing the work motions defined in the 3-D virtual clothing simulation system. For this, a male subject's body was 3-D scanned and also directly measured. The procedures to edit a 3-D virtual model required the total body shape to be 3-D scanned into a digital format, which was revised using 3-D Studio MAX and Maya rendering tools. In addition, heavy industry workers' work motions were observed and recorded by video camera at manufacturing sites and analyzed to categorize the painting work motions. This analysis resulted in 4 categories of motions: standing, bending, kneeling and walking. Besides, each work motion category was divided into more detailed motions according to sub-work posture factors: arm angle, arm direction, elbow bending angle, waist bending angle, waist bending direction and knee bending angle. Finally, the implementation of the painting work motions within the 3-D clothing simulation system presented the virtual painting work clothes images simulated in a dynamic mode.

  • Silica nanoparticles, which have a broad range of sizes and specific surface features, have been used in many industrial applications. This study was conducted to synthesize monodispersed silica nanoparticles directly from tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) with an alkaline catalyst (NH3) based on the sol-gel process and the Stöber method. A central composite design (CCD) is used to build a second-order (quadratic) model for the response variables without requiring a complete three-level factorial experiment. The process was then optimized to achieve the minimum particle size with the lowest concentration of TEOS. Dynamic light scattering and scanning electron microscopy were used to analyze the size, dispersity, and morphology of the synthesized nanoparticles. After optimization, a confirmation test was carried out to evaluate the confidence level of the software prediction. The results revealed that the predicted optimization is consistent with experimental procedures, and the model is significant at the 95% confidence level.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a participatory education program of farmer's safety and health. After investigating the concept and status of agricultural safety and health to identify the problem of farmer's safety and health, we made the model in 3 steps, consist of analysis, design, and development, based on the instructional system design and the participatory instructional method. We also applied the participatory instructional method to the program to facilitate a change in practice by making farmers understand the contents. The findings of this study revealed the followings: 1) we developed the education program focused on characteristics of farmers as learners; 2) the education program was developed based on the model for developing education programs and the specific procedures that we made up; 3) we designed the program in modules to increase the availability; 4) we raised the content validity of the learning contents in the safety and health education program targeting farmers; 5) manuals and supplementaries for teachers were developed from learner's textbooks.
