  • An Evaluation System of Personal Information Competency was developed to evaluate individual Information competency and maturity levels in the enterprises of the information environment. The Evaluation System measures the requirements of information knowledge, skills, and mindset with the evaluation indices of personal information maturity. The indices are customized to four types of business departments - strategy Planning, development/maintenance, business applications, and administration support. Also, a maturity model of personal information competency is defined for interpretation of the evaluation results. The system was applied to assessment of actual human resources, 124 workers in an enterprise, to testify to its practical value. The case evaluation procedures include a series of questionnaires, written tests and application tests.

  • This study presents a new information model for building a database which is used for the Damage Calculation in a Road network after Seismic outbreak (DCRS). The component which is required for information system and data analysis is divided by four factors. Those are Ground Motion Component, Road Network Component, Fragile Structure Component, and Cost Component. These components have various manners and procedures that build informations by each systems. In this study, applying the domestic system resources and these four factors, we presented the integrated evaluating system. finally, we also present the prototype of DCRS based on the ArcGIS. It is expected that developed prototype can play a role in more improved DCRS by advanced study.

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce a proposed Framework for Evaluating the Return on Investment (ROI) of E-Learning Programs at Saudi Universities. To achieve this goal, the descriptive analysis methodology is used to analyze the literature review about e-learning and its evaluation from different viewpoints, especially from the ROI-related perspective. As well as the literature reviews related to ROI and the methods of calculating it inside society institutes. This study suggests a conceptual framework for evaluating the ROI of E-Learning Programs at Saudi Universities. This framework is based on the merging process among the analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate (ADDIE) model for designing e-learning programs, which gives detailed procedures for executing the program, several evaluating models for e-learning, and the Kirkpatrick model for evaluating the ROI of e-learning. It consists of seven stages (analysis, calculating the costs, design, development, implementation, calculation of the benefits, and calculation of the final ROI).

  • This paper presents the development of an algorithm for the reliability and life of a hypoid gear axle system (located in the last section of power train) in heavy vehicles. The algorithm is developed about expecting the reliability and service-life for applied loads on each component in the system using the Weibull's probabilistic distribution and the extended Palmgren's model. The probabilistic method is used to results. Also this model is involved in predicting the failure which is related to the number of load cycles with the approaching load. Then the precious evaluation of the reliability and life in the axle system can be effectively carried out. Thus the general procedures of a reliability and life design, including the mathematical formulation and numerical examples, are illustrated for a hypoid gear axle system.

  • Maintenance is carried out over a long period of time, and various documents are utilized in the maintenance work. In maintenance work which is progressed simultaneously in a short period of time, it is important to provide relevant information to the parties in a timely manner. As the types of work increase, manager needs more time and effort to select and utilize the documents. It is necessary to have an information system that supports the person in charge by grasping work procedures for each construction and providing the necessary documents and information for that step. This paper proposes an process based nexus model that can provide necessary documents to the parties to the work steps by linking the maintenance work process and BIM. Through the nexus model presented, manager can efficiently acquire the necessary documents and utilize them for the construction works currently being carried out.

  • This paper deals with the development of a software module for production planning and scheduling activities of an actual die-production management system. Scheduling problems, such as master schedule and detailed schedule, are the focal point of the whole article and they are considered in terms of operation procedures. Schedule-explosion module and load levelling module are the essential components of schedule management. The scheduling module allocates the resources, determines the process priority and the planned start and completion dates of processes. Rescheduling can be done to manipulate unforeseen situations that schedule is delayed owing to inducing defectives, machine breakdowns and lumpy demands. This study indicates a practical model for the die-producation management and helps to apply it for jobs in the real situation.

  • Atmospheric correction is one of critical procedures to extract quantitative information related to biophysical variables from hyperspectral data. In this study, we attempted to generate the water vapor contents image from hyperspectral data itself and developed the atmospheric correction algorithm for EO-1 Hyperion data using pre-calculated atmospheric look-up-table (LUT) for fast processing. To apply the new atmospheric correction algorithm, Hyperion data acquired June 3, 2001 over Seoul area is used. Reflectance spectrums of various targets on atmospheric corrected Hyperion reflectance images showed the general spectral pattern although there must be further development to reduce the spectral noise.

  • The German radar satellite TerraSAR was launched in 2007. In this study, interferogram is generated using TerraSAR-X data and DEM (Digital Elevation Model). Coregistration procedures used with SAR images (i.e. master and slave) in traditional method results in serious errors for high resolution TerraSARX data because of the mutual shift of the master and slave images due to topography. This error becomes more serious in mountainous areas in which the coherence between interferometric pairs is relatively low. Here we processed a geometric coregistration with DEM exploiting height information. Through the method, interferometry processing is fulfilled to generate a qualified interferogram and coherence is improved. This approach will help high resolution X-band SAR interferometry in mountainous area.

A Study on Parameter Estimation for General Aviation Canard Aircraft

  • This paper presents the procedures used for estimating the stability and control derivatives of a general aviation canard aircraft from flight data. The maximum likelihood estimation method which accounts for both process and measurement noise was used for the flight data analysis of a four seat canard aircraft, the Firefly. Without relying on the parameter estimation method, several aerodynamic derivatives were obtained by analyzing the steady state flight data. A wind tunnel test, a flight test of a 1/4 scaled remotely controlled model aircraft, and the prediction of aerodynamic coefficients using the USAF Stability and Control Digital Data Compendium (DATCOM), Advanced Aircraft Analysis (AAA), and Computer Fluid Dynamics (CFD) were performed during the development phase of the Firefly and the results were compared with flight determined derivatives of a full scaled flight prototype. A correlation between the results from each method could be used for the design of the canard aircraft as well as for building the aerodynamic database.

  • This paper explores a structuring method for solid modeling processes of an automobile automatic transmission-lever design. The aim of this work is to establish standard procedures to minimize iterations and trial and errors during the product development process to increase development time and costs. The design of the transmission-lever is periodically required to be changed with the model change of an automobile. The transmission-lever design process has mainly depended on the designer's experience. It causes to make difficulties to handle the dependency of components. The design process can be improved by resolving the dependency problem using the DSM. The process of applying the DSM provides a systematic way for the solid modeling of transmission-lever by the consideration of geometry dependency.
