인공지능 기반 신제품 개발 방법론 제안: 양손잡이(Ambidexterity) 접근 (Proposal of methodology for AI-based new product development: ambidexterity approach)

  • AI가 시장의 패러다임을 바꾸는 새로운 혁신 기술로 주목받고 있다. 기업은 AI의 기술적 이점이 잘 반영되면서 동시에 시장의 수요를 충족하는 방법을 적용하여 신제품을 개발해야 한다. 하지만 업계에는 이러한 요건을 충족하는 방법론이 부재하다 보니 기업들은 기존 제품개발 방법론을 이용해 AI 기반 제품개발을 추진하고 있다. 이로 인해 AI의 기술적 이점이 충분히 반영되지 못하거나 AI의 기술적 잠재성이 시장 가치로 연결되지 못하게 된다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해 이 연구는 AI 기반의 신제품을 개발하기 위한 새로운 방법론을 제시한다. AI 혁신이 기존 방식과 다른 차별적 속성을 확인하고, 이러한 속성이 반영된 제품 설계 프로세스와 방법론을 제시한다. 이 연구는 AI 제품개발이 양손잡이 접근(Ambidexterity approach)을 지향해야 함을 강조하며, 테크놀로지 푸시(Technology push) 기반의 아이디어 생성, 마켓 풀(Market pull) 기반의 소비자 요구조건 분석, 제품 설계 구체화 등을 포함하는 AI 기반 제품의 설계(Design) 프로세스 및 구체적인 개발 방법을 제안했다. 이 방법론의 현실 적용 가능성을 검증하기 위해 사례연구를 실시, AI 기반의 차량용 인포테인먼트 시스템개발 전략을 도출한다. 기술적 가능성에 기반하여 13개의 혁신 아이디어를 생성했고, 카노(KANO) 분석과 TOPSIS의 결합에 의한 소비자 요구조건 분석을 통해 총 6개의 신제품 개발 전략을 도출했다. 이 연구제서 제안하는 방법론은 기업이 AI 기반의 혁신제품을 통해 신시장을 개척하거나 기존 제품의 고도화를 통해 시장 확장을 펼치는 데 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.

선택형 컨조인트 분석을 통한 건강기능식품 속성의 소비자 선호에 관한 연구: 비타민 상품을 중심으로 (Choice-based Conjoint Analysis of Consumer Preferences for Health Food Attributes Focused on Vitamin C Supplements)

  • Purpose - First, the study identifies and analyzes consumer preferences with regard to health foods and supplements. Second, it identifies and analyzes consumer preferences with regard to the properties of Vitamin C supplements. Third, in order to provide a basic data for the development of Vitamin C supplements and to measure how consumers value the properties of different Vitamin C products, a consumer survey was conducted through the choice-based conjoint model. Based on the results, the research estimates consumers' relative product-related priorities as well as price levels and willingness to pay (WTP) for different product types, and makes suggestions regarding consumer-oriented new product development and progressive directions for the successful launch of health foods and supplements. Research design, data, and methodology - This study aims to define the attributes of health foods and supplements based on several characteristics including their natural ingredients, product price, product originality, natural ingredient content, and additional functional ingredients, and makes suggestions regarding strategic market pricing and product development for health foods and supplements according to customer attitudes and characteristics. The research used choice-based conjoint analysis methodology based on the Multinomial Logic Model and collected 94 questionnaires filled out by users of Korean Vitamin C supplements. Results - Product price is the most influential factor among the five analyzed properties. When consumers buy Vitamin C products, the relative significance level of four of the examined properties is as follows: 40.9% for product price, 23.3% for product originality, 21.9% for natural ingredient content, and 13.9% for additional functional ingredients. Vitamin C content is excluded as it is not a statistically significant factor. It is interesting that supplement manufacturers and retailers consider Vitamin C content to be very important whereas consumers do not regard it as an important factor at the time of purchase. The results for the marginal willingness to pay (MWTP) for each property of Vitamin C supplements show that consumers are willing to pay an additional 11,146 Korean won for a 50% increase in the natural ingredient content. With regard to product originality, consumers are willing to pay an additional 11,301 Korean won for products manufactured in Europe than for products manufactured in China. Moreover, consumers show a greater preference for products manufactured in Korea than in Europe. However, consumers are not willing to pay more for additional Vitamin C or additional functional ingredients added to Vitamin C products. Conclusions - According to the results of consumer research on Vitamin C supplements, which represent a popular health food supplement in Korea, most Korean health food and supplement companies are not consumer- or market-oriented when developing new products. Companies gather information from either R&D specialists or sales managers and their opinions are highly reflected in new product development. The study's results will help companies recognize the importance of understanding consumers' unmet needs in advance to develop new products in the future.

  • Dongwon Systems established in 1977 to exclusively supply Dongwon tuna cans, the parent company. Instead of its stable management and profits by relying on the parent company, the company was not complacent and started innovating and challenging new markets. Dongwon Systems decided to expand the business area and pioneer new markets so that it becomes the first domestic company to successfully expand into independent businesses other than parent company products. Such success of Dongwon Systems was driven by its differentiated B2B strategies. Unlike the characteristics of usual B2B companies, Dongwon Systems has been thinking both of its client companies and end-consumers. In this case-study, we will explore how Dongwon Systems became the No.1 packaging solution company in Korea through technology innovation in the aspects of unique B2B marketing strategy. The key success factor can be summarized in three ways; product and technology development with customer centric mind-set, systematically extending new markets through business diversification, and marking Southeast Asia as a bridgehead for its global strategy. It is expected that the current case study of Dongwon Systems will be able to provide implications for B2C companies as well as B2B companies that try to expand their business portfolio and global business areas through B2B marketing case analysis.

Current status of natural product industry and its commercial application to health functional foods

  • Natural product substances have historically served as the most significant also be prepared by source of new leads for pharmaceutical development. They can chemical synthesis(both semisynthesis and total synthesis) and have played a important role in the field of organic chemistry by providing synthetic targets. Rcently, they have also been extended for commercial purpose to refer to medicinal products, health functional foods, dietary supplements and cosmetics from natural sources. A large number of currently prescribed drugs have been either directly derived from or inspired by natural products. However, with the advent of robotics, bioinformatics, high throughput screening(HTS), molecular biology-biotechnology, combinatorial chemistry, in silico(molecular modeling) and other methodologies, the pharmaceutical industry has largely moved away from plant derived natural products as a source for leads and prospective drug candidates. The strategy for natural prduct industry is now changing from drug approaches to health foods by identifying effective natural products as preparations. In Korea, a lot of development of natural product based drugs have been done, but very few on health functional foods. The concept of natural product based health foods is not active components as lead compounds but standardized extracts or preparation mixed with other medicinal plants. The representative material has been recently known to be a standardized ginseng extract "Ginsana G 115" developed by Swiss Pharmaton company. The purpose of this presentation is to underline how natural products research continues to make significant contributions in the domain of discovery and development of new health functional foods. It is proposed to present the development of high value added health food or health functional foods through scientific investigation on efficacy and standardization of new materials form natural products.

  • The application of computers and information technologies progressed with remarkable pace has paved the way for technological innovation toward the efficient integration of various functions in a manufacturing system. Actually it is observed that the greater part of manufacturing companies already initiated significant efforts to integrate information systems and attained the level of integration to some extent. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the strategic direction that manufacturing firms are pursuing through integrating information systems. Using the extensive data gathered from Japanese manufacturers, it is attempted to find the differences in competitive priorities and action programmes between the companies with high and low-level system integration. Our empirical data reveals that the manufacturers with highly integrated system are focusing their competitive capabilities on the rapid design change and new product introduction, and accordingly they place a greater emphasis on the action programmes related to design, process and quality improvement. As a conclusion, highly integrated firms tend to pursue new product development strategy more intensively, thereby they want to be a preemptor in the new market through exploiting technological advantages of integrated manufacturing system.

  • 한국의 유한양행과 미국 Kimberly-Clark사의 합작회사인 유한킴벌리는 1993년 풀업스 완전 팬티형 기저귀 제품을 출시하여 팬츠형 기저귀를 통한 프리미엄 시장을 개척하게 된다. 그러나 Kimberly-Clark사의 완제품을 수입한 팬츠형 기저귀 풀업스는 미국에서 높은 시장 점유율을 가진 제품임에도 불구하고 국내 소비자들의 기저귀 사용문화에 맞지 않는 포지셔닝으로 인해 한국에서 현지화에 실패한다. 그 후 유한킴벌리는 1996년에 팬츠형 기저귀 하기스 토틀러를 다시 시장에 선보이게 된다. 이는 Kimberly-Clark사의 제품력과 유한킴벌리의 마케팅능력이 결합하여 풀업스보다 뛰어난 신제품을 출시하는 계기가 된다. 그러나 이 또한 배변 연습에 대한 문화/환경/태도/습관차이 등과 같은 국내 소비자들의 라이프스타일에 맞지 않는 포지셔닝과 IMF 위기로 인한 수입원가 급등, 회사 내부에서의 신뢰도 미약, 20%대로 낮았던 시장 취급율, 기존 일반 기저귀보다 월등히 높았던 가격 등의 이유로 인하여 다시 시장에서 실패하게 된다. 2005년 유한킴벌리는 New Pants 사업전략을 다시 수립하기로 한다. 그것은 Winning Product 의 개발, Winning Communication 전략, 팬티시장 창출을 통한 시장구조 변화의 세 가지가 유기적으로 결합한 형태였다. 총 55회의 시장조사를 통해 소비자 Habit & Practice와 Usage & Attitude 를 조사하였으며 제품사용조사, 포지셔닝 조사, 광고조사를 실시하여 제품설계에서 디자인까지의 전 과정을 소비자의 관점에서 바라보고 기획하였다. 유한킴벌리는 출시될 신제품을 배변연습 기저귀가 아닌, 입히는 기저귀로 리포지셔닝하고, 기존 하기스 대비 25% 비싼 프리미엄 제품으로 <하기스 매직팬티>를 출시한다. 하기스 매직팬티는 국내 기저귀 시장에서 대히트상품으로 인식되며 2005년 출시 이후 2006년 376억, 2007년 572억, 2008년 900억의 매출액을 기록하였다. 이처럼 하기스 매직팬티가 성공할 수 있었던 이유는 고객의 사용특성을 정확히 파악해서 도출된 리포지셔닝 전략 덕분이었다. 국내외 많은 기업들이 치열하게 각축전을 펼치고 있는 유아용품 시장에서 살아남기 위해 진행했던 철저한 시장조사와, 그 시장조사를 바탕으로 한 명확한 포지셔닝, 그리고 그것이 효과적으로 고객의 마음속에 포지셔닝 될 수 있도록 만들어준 유한킴벌리의 공격적인 360도 커뮤니케이션 전략이 하기스 매직팬티의 성공전략이었다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 제품가족 디자인 과목을 사례로 하여 교과과정을 재구성하고 실제 교육을 실현한 내용을 소개함으로써 산업공학에서 창의공학 설계 및 교육의 모형과 그 가능성을 을 제시하는 데 있다. 수시로 변하는 고객요구와 모델의 다양화 및 기술의 변화는 제품의 맞춤 생산과 시장 및 고객에 따른 차별화를 필요로 하며 이를 위해서 플랫폼에 기초한 제품가족 개념을 이용한 대량 맞춤화 (Mass customization)의 적용이 아주 중요하다. 제품가족이란 공통의 특성, 구성품과 서브시스템을 공유하는 상호 연관된 일련의 제품으로서 다양한 시장 분야를 충족시킨다. 제품가족의 모델링은 효과적인 제품의 개발과 제품 플랫폼 및 공통 부품과 기능을 개발하는데 아주 중요한 분야이며 학생들의 창의적인 노력이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 목적을 위해서 개발된 교육과정을 창의 설계의 관점에서 교육하고, 실습을 통해서 학생들의 교육의 만족도 및 그 수업 참여도를 높임으로써 변화된 공학교육의 새로운 방향을 제시해 보고자 한다.

레스토랑 메뉴 수명주기(Menu Life Cycle) 패턴 분석 - T레스토랑 사례를 중심으로 - (Analysis of the Life Cycle of Menus in Restaurants - A Case Study of 'T' Restaurant -)

  • This study investigated the life cycle of menus and made suggestions on the appropriate time for when new menus should be developed. For this purpose, a total of 636 customers who visited 'T' Restaurant more than 25 times in the past three years were used for analysis. After estimating product life cycles based on sales and selling period, an empirical study was conducted. In terms of product life cycle, a growth stage was observed in the category of pasta and pizza in both stores A and B, whereas sales in the rice category stayed constant. Regarding trend in seasonal sales, a big difference was detected between the two stores. While store A was already in the decline stage of the life cycle in all menu categories, store B remained in the growth stage. In terms of menu life cycle, the product life cycle of long-lived products was observed in the pasta category in both stores A and B. While the pizza category was in the growth stage, the product life cycle of long-lived products was observed in the rice category. It is expected that the results of this study could be useful in development of new menus and product life cycle management to fulfill diverse customer needs in the dining-out business.

An Analysis on the HMR Purchasing Behavior based on the Life Style of the Customers of Convenience Stores

  • In this study, the influence of the life style on the HMR purchasing behaviors and repurchasing intents and the purchasing behavior on the repurchasing intent were examined in order to provide the basic data for developing competitive HMR product and invigoration of marketing. As results, of the life style factors, the health affected the quality, the taste the convenience and safety, and the economy the convenience, and the convenience the quality, and the safety the safety, significantly. Of the life style factors, health affected the repurchasing intentions negatively, while taste affected the repurchasing intent positively. Of the HMR selection properties, quality, convenience, and safety all affected the repurchasing intent positively. It can be conducted from the study that it is necessary to develop a strategy to enhance the quality and safety of the HMR and enhance the taste and economy of the HMR products for the taste and economy-oriented customers. When developing a new HMR product, the development and formulation of the strategy for quality, convenience, and safety and the overall strategy that covers from production, logistics, sales, and promotion, are supposed to be well established and discussed.
