Feasibility Study of Superconducting Fault Current Limiter Application to Korean Power System

  • The short circuit current problem is one of the operational problems that need to be solved by power system engineers in Korea. It is an important issue in the Seoul metropolitan area especially because of highly meshed configuration. Currently, it is regulated by changing 154 kV system configuration from loop connection to radial system, by splitting of the bus where load balance can be achieved, and by upgrading circuit breaker rating. A development project for 154 kV/2 KA SFCL application to 154 kV transmission system after 2010 is proceeding. In this paper, a feasibility study of superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is carried out in Seoul metropolitan area to find out the effects of its application and feasibility. This study shows that it can reduce fault current considerably, and as it can minimize the upgrading of circuit breaker rating, the economic potential of SFCL is evaluated positively.

  • An experimental feasibility study of the E3.9 engine with CP3.3 and EDC7C was conducted to understand the initial performance and the possibility for EURO-III regulation. ID cycle simulation for concept study was conducted using the BOOST. Also, some basic investigations through such various parameters as injection timing and rail pressure have been carried out to find the feasibility on EURO-III ESC mode. Based on the results, the feasibility of the E3.9 engine for EURO-III characteristics such as performance, emissions, and fuel economy was demonstrated.

  • Business Information Systems are strategic applications to achieve companies' goals and innovation. This idea make companies invest their time and budget in the Information Systems. However, it is difficult to forecast effects of the investment in Information Systems and it causes hesitation of making decision. Thus, I researched a case so that I could forecast the effect of the information systems using AHP(analytic hierarchical process). In this study, I approached this matter with three views such as intelligence(review of prior literature), design(methodology development), and application. This study is significant in terms of practicality rather than theoretical dimension. Particularly, I suggested a way of quantifying in monetary value the quality aspects through inverting qualitative facts to quantitative facts and calculated the investment feasibility with it.

  • The distribution live-line work method is an operation method of working in a state in which electricity flows through overhead distribution lines to minimize inconvenience to electric customers due to power failure. In June 2016, to strengthen the safety of electrical workers, Korea Electric Power Corporation announced that it would in principle abolish the rubber glove method, in which workers wore protective equipment such as rubber gloves and performed their maintenance work. In addition, KEPCO announced that it would develop a short-range live working method using smart sticks and an advanced live-line maintenance robot system where workers work without touching wires directly. This paper is a preliminary study for the development of the live-line maintenance robot system, and deals with the results of analyzing the technical feasibility of whether the live works performed by workers can be replaced by robots or not.

  • The purpose of this study evaluates a feasibility and economical efficiency of new renewable energy. According as weather change is serious problem now days, every people make attention to the reduction of greenhouse gas. The revitalization of new renewable energy creates the variety of energy source, stability of energy supply and reduction of greenhouse gas. In this study evaluates a feasibility and economical efficiency from new renewable energy of various photo voltaics, wind power, small hydro and biogas. Feasibility does in standard of technical characteristic, politic support, marketability, establishment present condition and development aim. Economical efficiency does in standard of developmental unit cost, utilization factor, equipment life, politic support cost, interest ratio. The results of this study were as follows photo voltaics, wind, small hydropower, biogas in order feasibility is high. Developmental unit cost, utilization factor, equipment life, politic support cost and analyzed the relationship of interest ratio fluctuation and economical efficiency. From all new renewable energy the utilization factor most is important in economical efficiency but necessary utilization factor is difficult because environmental problem.

사물통신(M2M) 기반 응용 서비스의 사업성에 관한 탐색적 연구 (An Exploratory Study on the Feasibility of M2M Services)

  • Machine-to-Machine(M2M) refers to technologies allowing both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices. The enhancement of wireless technologies and the reduced cost of wireless connection have contributed toward the development of M2M market. M2M market currently focuses on public sector services, As M2M can offer scalable and flexible services, M2M services are expected to be applied in various fields. However there are still some doubts on whether the demand for M2M services will be increased. This study investigates the feasibility of M2M services from the perspective of operators. Operators evaluate that M2M services will show high marketability but low profitability in general. In addition, operators predict that M2M services will show both marketability and profitability in the area of car maintenance, insurance, telematics, home and office security, shop floor maintenance, and real-time locating services for children protection. This study may offer some ideas of M2M business models based on empirical feasibility studies.

  • This study which aimed to propose development directions for the future housing through the social change tries to predict the change of the future. Establish directions for planning of concept-Sustainability. Human-friendliness. High Technology and, with reference to case study and literature judge feasibility of them. The major findings were as follows : 1. Development direction related to the future housing can be classified into 7 principle : energy-saving, resource-saving, natural adaptation, community, user participant, super high level, and home intelligent. 2. AHP 분석을 통한 역세권 개발 입지 평가 지표 개발 및 적용 (A Study on Development and Application of Evaluation Index for Rail Station Area Development Site Using AHP)

  • 본 연구에서는 역세권 개발 입지 평가를 위한 객관적인 평가 지표 및 가중치를 제시하고자 한다. 역세권 개발 입지 평가를 위한 평가 지표는 정량화 가능 여부, 신설 역사 적용 가능성, 자료 수집의 지속가능성, 평가 지표간 상관관계 및 전문가 의사결정기법을 통해 선정하였고, 그 결과 철도 및 지하철 수요, 공시지가 비율 등 8개 지표가 선정되었다. 수요, 사업성, 지역성으로 분류하여 선정된 평가 지표를 계층화한 후 AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) 분석을 수행한 결과 가중치는 수요(0.486), 사업성(0.369), 지역성(0.145)의 순으로 나타나 지역성보다는 수요 및 사업성이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 기존 75개 철도역을 대상으로 적용한 결과 수도권은 수요, 지방지역은 사업성이 높은 철도역의 평가 결과가 높게 나타났다. 이러한 결과로 볼 때 역세권 개발 입지는 수요와 사업성을 기반으로 검토될 필요가 있을 것으로 판단되며, 본 연구 결과는 역세권 개발을 위한 초기 단계에서 의사결정을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

장수명 주택의 활성화를 위한 가동칸막이벽체 개발현황 연구 (A Study on the Development and Application of Movable Partition Components for Facilitating of Long-life Housing)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the feasibility of movable partition wall components that are able to correspond changes of structure system and spatial configuration by the needs of residents for the activation of long-life housing. The key element of various movable partition wall components, a movable partition wall, was analyzed for problems through both as-is analysis and field installation in Korea and Japan, and then its feasibility was verified. The movable partition wall can break the uniformity of a fixed one, can integrate and separate limited space by changes in the demands of residents, can be easy to separate, and can be independent. The development of the movable partition wall is important for the realization of diverse residential space, ease of remodeling, environment adaptation, promotion of modularization, etc. It is comprised of surfacing materials, core materials, structural materials, and movable parts. The domestic movable partition wall was verified regarding the feasibility of an apartment house through on-site inspections and sound insulation tests by KOHP21, KICT. In conclusion, the construction of long-life housing that has sustainable values in the use of housing is nationally an important assignment, so as to secure good housing stock.

도심 통신기반시설용지의 개발을 위한 재무타당성 분석에 관한 연구 (Financial Feasibility Analysis for the Development of Urban Telecommunication Facility Purpose Site)

  • 통신기술의 획기적인 발전에 따라 국가기간시설로서 관리 운영되던 대규모 통신시설부지는 토지이용 효율성과 가치를 높이기 위해 다양한 대체방안의 모색이 필요하게 되었다. 이에 본 연구는 유휴 사회기반시설부지 활용을 위한 민간주도의 복합용도 개발수요에 부합하여 도심기반시설로 용도지정이 되어 있는 통신용지를 대상으로 기부채납 및 입체지정 방안에 따른 개발사례의 재무적 타당성 분석과정을 제시하고자 한다. 재무적 타당성 분석을 위해 확률론적 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 통해 순현가(NPV)와 내부수익률(IRR)을 도출하고 이를 사업방안별로 분석하였다. 사업수지 분석 결과, 기부채납과 입체지정 방안 모두 충분한 사업성을 지닌 순현가와 내부수익률을 도출되었으며 확률 역시 모두 50%를 넘는 것으로 예측되어 사업의 요구수익률을 초과하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 시뮬레이션 결과, 임대료 상승률, 임대료, 공실률, 공사비, 할인율, 자본환원률 등의 변수 가운데 임대료가 가장 큰 영향을 미치며 토네이도 분석결과에서도 가장 민감도가 높은 관리대상 임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 도심기반시설의 지정용도 폐지를 통한 개발사업 도입에 대한 효율적 토지이용과 유사 사회기반시설의 활용을 위한 사업방안에 대한 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.
