  • Agreements such as the Uruguay Round and the New Round have dramatically changed international construction markets. The globalization of the construction industry provides tremendous opportunities for construction industry, while it generates the complex skeins of risks to contractors wllo would like to expand into new foreign markets. According to ENR, recently about $13.9\%$ of contractors that entered international construction markets have experienced loss in projects and furthermore, their average profits have also declined continuously. Accordingly, contractors need a strategic risk management system for assessing various risks and improving Profitability for overseas construction projects. This paper discusses the long-term trend of profitability performed by Korean contractors in international construction markets during the last 35 years. Then, it identifies the key factors that affect the profitability significantly through the structured surveys from 59 actual overseas projects. These factors can be used for developing a risk management system for international construction project.

  • 3D TV was been able to see in the market in early in this year. Tablet PC such as ipad by Apple and Galaxytab by Samsung were introduced recently. Those are possible by developing H/W and S/W of computer technology. The needs of interactive contents in many areas including education and entertainment area are increasing rapidly according to the various information devices are or will be in the market. Fore the more, GoogleTV and AppleTV are compete each other to dominate the world market in advance recently. CookTV tries to dominate in the domestic market by upgrading the current system. Diverse information devices are in the market means various size of displayers are able to be shown in our life. As TV is fused to computer, the displayer is substituted to TV's screen and the trend of TV is became bigger. The evolved TV is able to replace the computer by connecting to the network and people want to do interactions with contents by using the bidirectional communication. Therefore, it is expected to changing the human lifestyle. It is natural that contents for all members of family are needed, since TV's screen become bigger. It is required that the contents should guarantees the accessability of information to the all of family members and the easy interaction with contents. • While use of mass rearing systems improved poultry production, chances of exposing to contagious diseases have been increased, making flocks more vulnerable to diseases. Diseases of interest which affects egg production adversely include Low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI), Infectious bronchitis (IB), Avian meta-pneumoviral infection (aMPV) and Egg drop syndrome'76 (EDS'76). This report collected and analyzed 5,385 serum samples, which were collected from 1,330 different chicken flock, provided by Chungbuk National University, Avian Disease Laboratory at 2009. Serums were analyzed based on rearing stages; 0~1.3weeks (wks) (maternal antibody period), >1.3~3 wks (starting period), >3~10 wks (growing period), >10~22 wks (developing period), >22~40 wks (peak laying period), >40~60 wks (late laying period) and over 60 wks (post-molting period). Results showed the 99.7% of the tested flocks were immunized against ND and73.8%, 97.1%, 78,2% and 78% of the flocks were immunized against other 4 agents (LPAI, IB, EDS'76, aMPV). Maternal antibody was transferred to enough quantity for NDV. Generally, antibody titers which were developed at 22 weeks were stabilized permanently for life. In case of IB and aMPV, infection titer emerged as early as 10 weeks and the titer was increased from 99.4% to 100% for life. EDS76 showed increase in titers, reflecting decreased frequency of vaccination programs. Overall, this study displayed general trends of major viral disease in layers, but considering the trend of development of preventive measures and evolution of pathogens, conducting serological surveys on a regular basis is important.

  • Recently, the rapid redeposition and erosion of rivers artificially created by climate change and the Four Rivers Restoration Project is questionable. According to the revised law in Korea, the river management agency will periodically carry out bed changes surveys. However, there are technical limitations in contrast to the trend of increasing spatial coverage, density and narrowing of intervals. National organizations are interest in developing innovative bed changessurvey techniquesfor efficiency. Core of bathymetry survey is to measure the depth of rivers under a variety of river conditions, but that is relatively more risky, time-consuming and expensive compared to conventional ground surveys. To overcome the limitations of traditional technology, echo sounder, which has been mainly used for ocean depth surveying, has been applied to rivers. However, due to various technical limitations, it is still difficult to periodically investigate a wide range of areas. Therefore, technique using the remote sensing has been spotlighted as an alternative, especially showing the possibility of depth measurement using spectral characteristics. In this study, we develop and examine a technique that can measure depth of water using reflectance from spectral characteristics. As a result of applying the technique proposed in thisstudy, it was confirmed that the measured depth and the correlation and error corresponding to 0.986 and 0.053 m were measured in the depth range within 0.95 m. In the future, this study could be applied to the measurement of spatial depth if it is applied to the hyperspectral sensor mounted on the drone.

  • The production scale of mushrooms in Korea is approximately 600 billion won, which is 1.6% of Korea's gross agricultural output. In Korea, ca. 190,000 tons of mushrooms are harvested annually. Although the numbers of mushroom farms and cultivators are constantly decreasing, total mushroom yields are increasing owing to large-scale cultivation facilities and automation. The recent expansion of the well-being trend has caused an increase in mushroom consumption in Korea: the annual per capita mushroom was 3.9 kg ('13), whichis a little higher than that in Europe. Thus, mushroom export, mainly Flammulina velutipes and Pleurotus ostreatus, has increased since the mid-2000s. Recently, however, it is slightly reduced. Nevertheless, Vietnam, Hong Kong, the United States, and the Netherlands continue to export mushrooms, and Korea has increased its export to Australia, Canada, Southeast Asia, etc. Canned Agaricus bisporus, the first export of the Korean mushroom industry, reached it speak sales in 1977-1978. When Korea initiated trade with China in 1980, the international prices of mushrooms fell sharply, leading to shrinkage of the domestic markets. Spurred by the high demand to develop substitute goods for A. bisporus, the oyster mushroom (P. ostreatus) gained attention since it seemed to suit the taste of Korean consumers. Although the log cultivation technique for oyster mushroom was developed in the early 1970s, it required a great deal of labor. Thus, we developed the shelf cultivation technique, which is easier to manage and allows for mass production. In this technique, the growing shelf is made mafrom fermented rice straw, whichis the only P. ostreatus medium in the world and isused only in South Korea. After then, the use of cotton wastes as an additional material of medium, the productivity. Currently, we are developing a standard cultivation technique and environmental control system that can stably produce mushrooms throughout the year. The increase of oyster mushroom production may boostthe domestic market and contribute to industrial development. In addition, oyster mushroom production technology played a role in forming the basis for the development of bottle cultivation, which made mass production. In particular, bottle cultivation using liquid spawn could allow for the export of F. velutipes and Pleurotus eryngii. In addition, the white varieties of F. velutipes were second developed in the world after Japan. We also developed the new A. bisporus cultivar 'Saeah', which is easy to grow in Korea. In hopes to advance the mushroom industry, we will continue to develop cultivars with international competitive power and to improve cultivation techniques.

  • The roles of public libraries have been diverse not only provision of information but also provision of cultural programs. According to this trend, the spatial composition of public libraries have been also changed to reflect the diverse roles. This study is conducted to explore the spatial characteristics in public libraries with two objectives: 1) to suggest spatial types in public libraries based on their physical characteristics, and 2) to explore the relationships between the spatial types and users' perception. To accomplish these objectives, we adopted observation and questionnaire survey as research methods. Consequently, three spatial types of public libraries are identified based on an investigation of several public libraries: divided, partially integrated, and integrated. Then, several statistical analyses, including one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), are conducted with the questionnaire survey data. The results from the statical analyses show that there are significant differences in users' perceptions and behaviors between the spatial types. That is, the spatial type influences user's perceptions. This study is meaningful in terms of its first attempt to explore the relationships between spatial factors in libraries and users' perceptions. Based on this, it is suggested that libraries should consider their spatial structures for developing user's positive perception on the libraries.

  • China is the country with more people and more land, faced with the pressure of population growth and land decrement. The potential of developing animal husbandry by increasing feed grain per capita is less and less. "Planting forage to feed livestock" is a sustainable industry with grain-saying, high efficiency, good quality and safety, accorded with the conditions of China. First, the natural, social and economical condition in southern area of China was analyzed, and the characteristics of production and utilization of forage were introduced in this paper. The natural condition in southern area of China was well suited for forage production. Forage was mainly planted on famland. Main herbage cultivars were annual or hibernal annual. Most of forage was directly utilized by herbivorous animal and fish. Second, The present situation, developmental trend and existing problems of forage industrialization were reviewed. The level of forage industrialization was low with a bright future. At present, the chief existing problems were lack of herbage cultivars of good quality, backward equipment, lagged techniques and low level of mechanization in forage processing with a short time and so on. Finally, the situation of production and utilization of forage was summarized.

  • Climate change has increased the need to secure a new water resource in addition to the traditional water resources such as surface water and ground water. The seawater desalination market is growing sharply in accordance with this situation in Korea, "seawater engineering & architecture of high efficiency reverse osmosis (SEAHERO)" program was launched in 2007 to keep pace with world market trend. SEAHERO program was completed in 2014, contributed to turn the domestic technology in evaporative desalination technology to RO desalination technology. Currently, it is investigated that the average specific energy consumption of the whole RO plant is around $3.5kWh/m^3$. The Busan Gi-jang plant has shown $3.7{\sim}4.0kWh/m^3$, including operational electricity for plant and maintenance building. Although not world top level, domestic RO technology is considered to be able to compete in desalination market. Separately, many researchers in the world are developing new technologies for energy savings. Various processes, forward osmosis (FO), membrane distillation (MD) process are expected to compete with RO in the future market. In Korea, FO-RO hybrid process, MD and pressure retarded osmosis (PRO) process are under development through the research program in Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT). The desalination technology level is expected to decrease to $2.5kWh/m^3$.
