Moblie games are getting popular in that more mobile handsets are available. The mobile phone is expected to be the dominant platform the way the PC turned out to be the dominant platform of desktop computing. Ubiquity enables the mobile phone users interact socially with other users. Mobile game developers are now competing globally on the Apple Appstore, where any developers in the world are able to publish their own games easily. This study reviews the case of Gamevil, one of the leading mobile game service providers, from its foundation to the current global competition in order to draw implications for mobile game industry.

Nowadays, a large number of Executive Information Systems (EIS) have been developed around the world, most of them are in the United States. These systems were mainly for senior executives to monitor the current status and to find out possible opportunities/problems of their organizations. They also provide a number of capabilities such as drill-down, exception reporting, and trend analysis on hard and soft data from both internal and external sources. The purpose of this study is to see where the current status of the use of EIS in Korea and the Korean EIS industry are. The survey result is valuable to Korean EIS developers - both in-house developers and outside vendors. They can develop appropriate EISs based on the findings.

This paper presents the algorithms and Matlab Toolbox for co-simulation of distributed real-time control system based on OSEK-OS and CAN protocol. This toolbox enables the developers to analyze the timing uncertainty, which is caused by resource sharing including shared memories and networks, and to take the timing uncertainty into consideration in the early design phase. Furthermore, this toolbox helps the developers to model the behaviors of a control system by providing graphical user interface for objects of OSEK-OS and CAN. To prove the feasibility of this toolbox, a vehicle body network system is modeled with this toolbox, and the timing uncertainties are analyzed.

This study reviews the institutional frameworks of Open Source software and develops the stylized facts of Open Source software innovation. Open Source software have to solve two difficult problems for encouraging innovation. First, the source code of Open Source software program should be open and freely distributed and it is very difficult for developers to appropriate the results of their investments. Second, as Open Source software development process is characterized by the participation of communities of developers, it is not easy to coordinate and manipulate the development process. These difficulties of developing Open Source Software have been solved by the particular incentive schemes and coordinating mechanisms. This study reviews the study on the motivation of Open Source software development and the mechanisms which coordinate innovation process of Open Source software with peer review and meritocracy, and how these characteristics promote innovation in Open Source software communities.

Object-oriented paradigm has required the fundamental changes in the developers' practice and orientation. However. the relevant literature has not still provided the solid practical methodology but created some myths regarding Use Case modeling. In this study. we attempt to 'demythologize' some key aspects of Use Case Modeling by describing what we have observed in our research and practice. In order to identify the developers' perceptions. the survey methodology was utilized. By discussing the differences between what must be done and what has been done. this study provides rich insights into the better understanding of the Use Case modeling and the successful development of object-oriented systems.

Research results show (1) there are two dimensions characterizing Korean IS practitioners : 'project -operation' and 'product-orientation-strategic-orientation', (2) there are two distinctive and main career paths of Korean IS practitioners : generalists who support using information systems in the context of operation and specialists who are engaged in software development or improvement projects, and (3) Korean IS practitioners are experiencing serious and pervasive knowledge and skill deficiencies. Research results also provide clear evidence that Korean universities fail to provide eligible entry-level software developers and that the shortage of eligible entry-level software developers distorts both IS specialists' careers and knowledge and skill requirements for them.

The study is to assist system developers or designers who are participated in the design of the user-computer interface on online services such as Online Public Access Catalogue and Online Search-ins. To design the optimal user interface, system developers and designers should try to complete the following process orderly: 1) they should know and understand the active and potential user's information seeking behaviors concerning online services in details as possible. 2) they should design the conceptional user model on basis of that knowledge. 3）They should design the logical and hierachical computer model adaptable to the current environment. 4) they should design the display of the computer terminal which is ease to learn and use by the users. 5) finally, they should design the optimal and practical user inter-face on basis of the above 2, 3, and 4.

In accordance with the growing importance of software in computer systems, software quality and performance has become a hot issue in all computer-related fields and businesses. But the measurement and evaluation of software quality still poses a problem, due to the different viewpoints of software developers and users. This study attempts to combine the external characteristics of quality representing the viewpoint of users, and the internal characteristics representing the viewpoint of developers of quality. In order to do this, this study provides multiple models which select the appropriate internal characteristics which reflect user requirements from earlier phases of development. The goal of this study is to enhance the applicability of 40 internal characteristics of ISO 9126 to the models.

Executive information systems (EIS) developers are faced with an increasingly difficult choice problem in the evaluation and selection of software packages. For many reasons, they frequently must depend on identification and evaluation of features of packages. When EIS software evaluation is regarded as an unstructured or semi-structured group decision making problem, the most appropriate decision-aiding methods are needed to help effective group interaction. This paper examines evaluation criteria of full-featured EIS packages and considers the priority of these criteria using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Two exploratory phases are presented. In the first phase, an approach combining the AHP with the linear weighted attribute method is presented to computer qualities of some packages. In the second phase, the decision making group includes EIS developers, users, and vendors to prioritize evaluation criteria.

The paper describes the status and context of the Chinese Open Source Software (OSS) industry and ecosystem based on the analysis of the components of the China OSS Promotion Union. The analysis involves comparisons of several main Chinese developers of Linux operating system and makers of open source counterpart of the popular Microsoft Office package as well as several main Chinese OSS communities. Comparisons concern the technological and business aspect. The findings reveal peculiarities of the divergence of innovative activities of Chinese companies, as well as indicate that the strong government support may at the same time limit the technology selection under rigid competition, especially as foreign open source companies are found to be more focused on hobbyist developers and are able to maintain larger independent communities. Implications of the paper include the need to coordinate global development efforts and adjust science & technology policies in order to stimulate both the development and the diffusion of open source among Chinese companies and individual hobbyists.
