Fault detection and isolation are related to system monitoring, identifying when a fault has occurred, and determining the type of fault and its location. Fault detection is utilized to determine whether a problem has occurred within a certain channel or area of operation. Fault detection and diagnosis have become increasingly important for many technical processes in the development of safe and efficient advanced systems for supervision. This paper presents an integrated technique for fault diagnosis and classification for open- and short-circuit faults in three-phase inverter circuits. Discrete wavelet transform and principal component analysis are utilized to detect the discontinuity in currents caused by a fault. The features of fault diagnosis are then extracted. A fault dictionary is used to acquire details about transistor faults and the corresponding fault identification. Fault classification is performed with a fuzzy logic system and relevance vector machine (RVM). The proposed model is incorporated with a set of optimization techniques, namely, evolutionary particle swarm optimization (EPSO) and cuckoo search optimization (CSO), to improve fault detection. The combination of optimization techniques with classification techniques is analyzed. Experimental results confirm that the combination of CSO with RVM yields better results than the combinations of CSO with fuzzy logic system, EPSO with RVM, and EPSO with fuzzy logic system.
With the increased attention about healthcare and management of heart diseases, smart healthcare services and related devices have been actively developed recently. R wave is the largest representative signal among ECG signals. R wave detection is very important because it detects QRS pattern and classifies arrhythmia. Several R wave detection algorithms have been proposed with different features, but the remaining problem is their implementation in low-cost portable platforms for real-time applications. In this paper, we propose R wave detection based on optimal threshold and arrhythmia classification through QRS pattern considering complexity in smart healthcare environments. For this purpose, we detected R wave from noise-free ECG signal through the preprocessing method. Also, we classify premature ventricular contraction arrhythmia in realtime through QRS pattern. The performance of R wave detection and premature ventricular contraction arrhythmia classification is evaluated by using 9 record of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database that included over 30 premature ventricular contraction. The achieved scores indicate the average of 98.72% in R wave detection and the rate of 94.28% in PVC classification.

Adversarial attack is a technique that causes a malfunction of classification models by adding noise that cannot be distinguished by humans, which poses a threat to a deep learning model. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to detect adversarial images using Gaussian process regression. Existing deep learning-based adversarial detection methods require numerous adversarial images for their training. The proposed method overcomes this problem by performing classification based on the statistical features of adversarial images and clean images that are extracted by Gaussian process regression with a small number of images. This technique can determine whether the input image is an adversarial image by applying Gaussian process regression based on the intermediate output value of the classification model. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves higher detection performance than the other deep learning-based adversarial detection methods for powerful attacks. In particular, the Gaussian process regression-based detector shows better detection performance than the baseline models for most attacks in the case with fewer adversarial examples.

Fires are a common cause of catastrophic personal injuries and devastating property damage. Every year, many fires occur and threaten human lives and property around the world. Providing early important sign for early fire detection, and therefore the detection of smoke is always the first step in fire-alarm systems. In this paper we propose an automatic smoke detection system built on camera surveillance and image processing technologies. The key features used in our algorithm are to detect and track smoke as moving objects and distinguish smoke from non-smoke objects using a convolutional neural network (CNN) model for cascade classification. The results of our experiment, in comparison with those of some earlier studies, show that the proposed algorithm is very effective not only in detecting smoke, but also in reducing false positives.
In this literature, fault detection and classification of faulty induction motors are carried out through Z-index and frequency analysis. Above frequency analysis refer Fourier transformation and Wavelet transformation. Z-index is defined as the similar form of energy function, also the faulty and healthy conditions are classified through Z-index. For the detection and classification feature extraction for the fault detection of an induction motor is carried out using the information from stator current. Fourier and Wavelet transforms are applied to detect the characteristics under the healthy and various faulty conditions. We can obtain feature vectors from two transformations, and the results illustrate that the feature vectors are complementary each other.
This paper proposes a portable cable fault detection system with automatic fault distinction and distance measurement using time-frequency correlation and reference signal elimination method and automatic fault classification algorithm in order to have more accurate fault determination and location detection than conventional time domain refelectometry (TDR) system despite increased signal attenuation due to the long distance to cable fault location. The performance of the developed system method was validated via an experiment in the test field constructed for the standardized performance test of power cable fault location equipments. The performance evaluation showed that accuracy of the developed system is less than 1.34%. Also, an error of automatic fault type and location by detection of phase and peak value through elimination of the reference signal and normalization of correlation coefficient and automatic fault classification algorithm not occurred.
Previous works for detecting arrhythmia have mostly used nonlinear method such as artificial neural network, fuzzy theory, support vector machine to increase classification accuracy. Most methods require higher computational cost and larger processing time. Therefore it is necessary to design efficient algorithm that classifies PVC(premature ventricular contraction) and decreases computational cost by accurately detecting minimal feature point based on only R peak through optimal R wave. We propose an optimal R wave detection and PVC classification method through extracting minimal feature point in IoT environment. For this purpose, we detected R wave through optimal threshold value and extracted RR interval and R peak pattern from noise-free ECG signal through the preprocessing method. Also, we classified PVC in realtime through RR interval and R peak pattern. The performance of R wave detection and PVC classification is evaluated by using record of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. The achieved scores indicate the average of 99.758% in R wave detection and the rate of 93.94% in PVC classification.

Dynamic object detection is essential for ensuring safe and reliable autonomous driving. Recently, light detection and ranging (LiDAR)-based object detection has been introduced and shown excellent performance on various benchmarks. Although LiDAR sensors have excellent accuracy in estimating distance, they lack texture or color information and have a lower resolution than conventional cameras. In addition, performance degradation occurs when a LiDAR-based object detection model is applied to different driving environments or when sensors from different LiDAR manufacturers are utilized owing to the domain gap phenomenon. To address these issues, a sensor-fusion-based object detection and classification method is proposed. The proposed method operates in real time, making it suitable for integration into autonomous vehicles. It performs well on our custom dataset and on publicly available datasets, demonstrating its effectiveness in real-world road environments. In addition, we will make available a novel three-dimensional moving object detection dataset called ETRI 3D MOD.
With the development of autonomous vehicle, there has been active research on advanced driver assistance system for road marking detection using vision sensor and 3D Laser scanner. However, vision sensor has the weak points that detection is difficult in situations involving severe illumination variance, such as at night, inside a tunnel or in a shaded area; and that processing time is long because of a large amount of data from both vision sensor and 3D Laser scanner. Accordingly, this paper proposes a road marking detection and classification method using single 2D Laser scanner. This method road marking detection and classification based on accumulation distance data and intensity data acquired through 2D Laser scanner. Experiments using a real autonomous vehicle in a real environment showed that calculation time decreased in comparison with 3D Laser scanner-based method, thus demonstrating the possibility of road marking type classification using single 2D Laser scanner.
This paper is focused on the modulation scheme detection of the IEEE 802.11 standard. In the IEEE 802.11ac standard, the information of the modulation scheme is indicated by the modulation coding scheme (MCS) included in the VHT-SIG-A of the preamble field. Transmitting end determines the MCS index suitable for the low signal to noise ratio (SNR) situation and transmits the data accordingly. Since data field decoding can take place only when the receiving end acquires the MCS index information of the frame. Therefore, accurate MCS detection must be guaranteed before data field decoding. However, since the MCS index information is the information obtained through preamble field decoding, the detection rate can be affected significantly in a low SNR situation. In this paper, we propose a relatively robust modulation classification method based on deep learning to solve the low detection rate problem with a conventional method caused by a low SNR.
