Edges are one of the most important features used in various computer vision applications. Most of the known edge detection techniques are categorized into three gropus: First two approaches are to find gray level changes using first-order or second-order differentiation. The third method uses intrinsic propoeties of edges such as the result shown during scale space filtering. In this paper, we study various kind of edge detection techniques. Two images (Lenna image and a certain image which is composed of step, ramp, roof, and other artificial edge patterns) are used to compare different edge detection techniques and to verify the advantages and disadvantage of each techniques.
Alpha stable distribution is better for modeling impulsive noises than Gaussian distribution in signal processing. This class of process has no closed form of probability density function and finite second order moments. In general, Wiener filter theory is not meaningful in S$\alpha$SG environments because the expectations may be unbounded. We proposed a new adaptive recursive least p-norm Kalman filtering algorithm based on least p-norm of innovation process with infinite variances, and a new robust multiuser detection method based on least p-norm Kalman filtering. The simulation experiments show that the proposed new algorithm is more robust than the conventional Kalman filtering multiuser detection algorithm.
In order to estimate the detection range of a active SONAR system, the SONAR equation is commonly used. In this paper, an algorithm to calculate detection range in active SONAR system as function of SONAR depth and target depth is presented. For given SONAR parameters and environment, the transmission loss and background level are found, signal excess is computed. Using log-normal distribution, signal excess is converted to detection probability at each range. Then, the detection range is obtained by integrating the detection probability as function of range for each depth. The proposed algorithm have been applied to the case of omni-directional source with center frequency 30Hz for summer and winter sound profiles. It is found that the optimal search depth is the source depth since the detection range increase at source depth where the signal excess is maximized.

The optimal use of sonar systems for detection is a practical problem in a given ocean environment. In order to quantify the mission achievability in general, measure of effectiveness(MOE) is defined for specific missions. In this paper, using the specific MOE for detection, which is represented as cumulative detection probability(CDP), an integrated software package named as Optimal Acoustic Search Path Planning(OASPP) is developed. For a given ocean environment and sonar systems, the discrete observations for detection probability(PD) are used to calculate CDP incorporating sonar and environmental parameters. Also, counter-detection probability is considered for vulnerability analysis for a given scenario. Through modeling and simulation for a simple case for which an intuitive solution is known, the developed code is verified.
Object detection techniques based on deep learning such as YOLO have high detection performance and precision in a single channel video stream. In order to expand to multiple channel object detection in real-time, however, high-performance hardware is required. In this paper, we propose a novel back-end server framework, a real-time AI vision platform (RAVIP), which can extend the object detection function from single channel to simultaneous multi-channels, which can work well even in low-end server hardware. RAVIP assembles appropriate component modules from the RODEM (real-time object detection module) Base to create per-channel instances for each channel, enabling efficient parallelization of object detection instances on limited hardware resources through continuous monitoring with respect to resource utilization. Through practical experiments, RAVIP shows that it is possible to optimize CPU, GPU, and memory utilization while performing object detection service in a multi-channel situation. In addition, it has been proven that RAVIP can provide object detection services with 25 FPS for all 16 channels at the same time.

In this paper, the Viterbi decoder containing new branch metrics of the squared Euclidean distance with multiple order phase differences is introduced in order to improve the bit error rate (BER) in the differential detection of the trellis-coded MDPSK-DFDM. The proposed Viterbi decoder is conceptually same as the sliding multiple phase differential detection method that uses the branch metric with multiple phase differences. Also, we describe the Viterbi algorithm in order to use this branch metrics. Our study shows that such a Viterbi decoder improves BER peformance without sacrificing bandwidth and power efficiency. Also, the proposed algorithm can be used in the single carrier modulation.

Forward error correction (FEC) coding schemes using iterative soft decision detection (SDD) information are mandatory in most of the next generation wireless communication system, in order to combat inevitable channel imparirnents. At the same time, space-time block coding (STBC) schemes are used for the diversity gain. Therefore, SDD information has to be fed into FEC decoder. In this paper, we propose efficient SDD methods for turbo-coded STBC system using high order modulation such as QAM. We present simulation results of various SDD schemes for turbo-coded STBC systems, and show that the proposed methods can provide almost approximating performance to maximum likelihood detection with much less computational load.

Recently, OFDM and STC techniques have been considered to be candidate to support multimedia services in the next generation mobile radio communications and have been developed the many communications systems in order to achieve the high data rates. In this paper, we propose the Trellis-Coded Differential Space Time Modulation-OFDM system with multiple symbol detection. The Trellis-code performs the set partition with unitary group codes. The Viterbi decoder containing new branch metrics is introduced in order to improve the bit error rate (BER) in the differential detection of the unitary differential space time modulation. Also, we describe the Viterbi algorithm in order to use this branch metrics. Our study shows that such a Viterbl decoder improves BER performance without sacrificing bandwidth and power efficiency.
This paper presents an algorithm for building detection from aerial image using segment measure function and line relation. In the detection algorithm proposed, edge detection, linear approximation and line linking are used and then line measure function is applied to each line segment in order to improve the accuracy of linear approximation. Parallelisms, orthogonalities are applied to the extracted liner segments to extract building. The algorithm was applied to aerial image and the buildings were accurately detected.

In this study, the existence of chaotic characteristics in snoring signals obtained in the form of time series data was checked through quantitative and qualitative analysis methods, and a snoring signal detection system was designed applied with detection algorithms considering diverse parameters of occurring signals in order to enhance the accuracy and reliability of detections and the performance of the system was checked. The system was tested with certain snoring patients and thereby the results as follows could be obtained.
