The Invention of New Electro-Mechanical Brake Calipers Utilizing Patent Analysis Results (특허분석 결과를 활용한 새로운 전기기계 브레이크의 발명)

  • Within the framework of brake-by-wire technology, this paper presents five types of novel models of electro-mechanical disk brake calipers with self-servo mechanism which provides self-servo effect of boosting a friction force generated between the brake pad and the rotor disk surface. The models have been developed utilizing patent map analysis results of previous invents of electro-mechanical brake calipers. The feasibility of the developed motor-driven brake caliper models have been validated through the dynamic simulation analysis. Among the developed models, the caliper mechanism with separated pressure plate was designed especially in detail and was made as a pilot. The pilot caliper has been installed on the simple test bed constructed with domestic passenger car brake components, and its function and effectiveness have been validated through several types of experimental tests.

  • The CORBA that supports FPGA has not been used generally and it is difficult to implement and to develop the CORBA for FPGA. In this paper we propose the way to design FPGA to support a CORBA component. For FPGA to support the CORBA component, embedded processor provided by FPGA and PCI based CORBA is utilized. The PCI based CORBA is for improving data transfer throughput. This paper will be organized as follows. In Chapter I, existing research trend and background are presented for why we propose design of FPGA that support the CORBA component. In Chapter II, FPGA design for supporting CORBA components is proposed and described in detail. In Chapter III, simple experiment is tested to confirm the proposed FPGA design. Finally session 4 is conclusion of this paper.

Novel Interleaved Single-Stage AC/DC Converter with a High Power Factor and High Efficiency

  • A novel single-stage AC/DC converter with the soft-switching characteristic based on interleaving technology and an LLC topology is proposed here. The converter is integrated by an interleaved cell and an LLC cell. Because the components of the system are reduced as a result of integrating, the cost decreases. Since interleaving technology is adopted, the converter can work in a high voltage input state. The LLC topology chosen here ensures that the switches on the primary side work in the ZVS condition and that the diodes on the secondary side work in the ZCS condition, which decreases the switching loss of the system. A theoretical analysis and the design procedures of the proposed converter are proposed and discussed in detail. Simulations and experimental studies with a 100W prototype are done to prove the analysis.

  • Gilt bronze locks(Treasure No. 1141) excavated from Hancheonsa temple are artifacts of Goryeo Dynasty. The locks underwent a conservation process from October 2001 to July 2002. The process included cleaning and the application of corrosion inhibitors, Benzotriazolesolution, as well as reinforcement treatment with Paraloid NAD-10 solution,an acrylic resin. Non-destructive XRF analysis unveil that the artifacts are made of an alloy of copper(Cu), tin(Sn) and lead(Pb), but the gilt layer is too thin to analyze the purity of the gold or the exact production method. Gilt bronze locks are important materials because they preserve all the structures of locks in Goryeo Dynasty to the smallest detail. The surface pattern is revealed through the conservation process and components of the alloy through material analysis.

  • With the rapid development of Urban Mass Transit in China, the Intelligent Transport System becomes inevitable. Based on the brief introduction of the blueprint of Urban Mass Transit in Shanghai, this paper analyses in detail the components and functions of Automatic Train Control (ATC) system applied in Shanghai Metro, presents the key technology of the main three subsystems of the ATC system : Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) subsystem, Automatic Train Protection (ATP) subsystem, Automatic Train Operation (ATO) subsystem.   • In this paper, new replication techniques fur a metal microcomponent having a real 3D shape were introduced. Helical gear was selected as one of a real 3D microcomponents for this study. The helical gear, which was made of photo-curable resin, was fabricated as a master pattern by microstereolithography technology. Then, a silicone rubber mold was fabricated from the master pattern. Lastly, a final bismuth alloy pattern was transferred from the silicone rubber mold by the microcasting process. In this paper, the replication technique is described in detail from the master pattern to the final pattern with some investigation on factors related to the technique.

Improved Control Strategy for T-type Isolated DC/DC Converters

  • T-type isolated DC/DC converters have recently attracted attention due to their numerous advantages, including few components, low cost, and symmetrical operation of transformers. This study proposes an improved control strategy for increasing the efficiency of T-type isolated DC/DC converters. Under the proposed strategy, the primary circulating current flows through the auxiliary switches (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors) instead of their body diodes in free-wheeling periods. Such feature can reduce conduction losses, thereby improving the efficiency of T-type isolated DC/DC converters. The operation principles and performances of T-type isolated DC/DC converters under the proposed control strategy are analyzed in detail and verified through the simulation and experimental results.

  • Basic characteristics of wheel brake accumulator for aircraft is studied. Wheel brake accumulator maintains the braking pressure for parking mode, and also it supplies the hydraulic pressure to the wheel brake system for emergency mode. The design requirements of wheel brake accumulator are analyzed and the initial sizing is conducted. A wheel brake accumulator consists of a cylinder and a brake control module, and the basic configuration and detail components are presented. Again, structural static analysis of vessel is performed with NASTARN/PATRAN for preliminary design.

Study on Equivalent Circuits of Sodalite Type Materials by Complex Impedance Analysis

  • Electrical characteristics of Fe-substituted sodalites were analyzed and equivalent circuits of samples were designed using impedance and admittance data. Internal components of resistances (R$_e$, R$_b$, and R$_{gb}$) and capacitances (C$_b$, C$_dl$ and C$_D$) could be extracted by changing the frequency of measurement at three different temperatures. Upon increasing the temperature, electrical properties of the samples could be elucidated in detail by equivalent circuit. The substitution of Fe on Al site was indirectly confirmed by ESCA and the results explain the lower polarity in Na-O bond of Fe 10 mole ${\%}$-substituted sodalite.

  • Hydraulic systems of injection molding machine are modelled and simulated with AMESim which is a commercial program. Detail models of hydraulic components are simulated and simulation results are evaluated with maker's test results in catalog. Sub system models which is divided according to functional operation are made and its analysis results shows how design parameters work on operational characteristics like cylinder speed, cylinder displacement, pressure, flow rates at each node and so on. Total circuit model is also made and analyzed. The prediction made by simulation will be used design of hydraulic systems of injection molding machine.
