  • The Purpose of this research was focused on analyzing how costume was exactly researched for film in comparison with the original Renaissance costume, and how to change the degree of brightness and chroma in costume of two films, 'Shakespeare in Love' and 'Elizabeth: The Virgin Queen'. For these purpose, each costume of main seven scenes was analyzed in terms of silhouette, detail, and trimming. Color image, brightness and chroma of costume were compared with the color chip data from Samsung Design Net. As results, costume from two films had exactness in historical research. but the original costumes were modernly changed by the purpose of director. Color image of costume were used proper colors for the characteristic of the story. Costumes of heroine was numerically changed at the degree qf the brightness and chroma through story-going. By this change, director could effectively give dramatic rhythm for the story. The limitation of this research was that color analysis had been conducted on the screen, and this fact might mean the original colors of film might be different from those of screen.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between the visual sensibility and the decorative design of clothing. 41 kinds of costume samples have been selected from photographs in fashion magazines under detail and trimming, and divided into three types according to line, shape, and form. I have measured these images by using Semantic Differential method. The obtained data were analyzed by factor analysis ANOVA, discriminant analysis, regression analysis and MDS. The results of analysis are as follow; 1. Factor analysis has extracted five factors which consist of decorative design sensibility. These factors are Attractiveness, Hardness and Softness, Rhythm, Decorativeness, Cuteness. 2. There were significant differences in visual evaluation of decorative design and demographics 3. The discrimination among formative designs was closely related to decorative image, especially between line and form. 4. The Image effect on Preference, Buying needs, Riches and Pleasant was consist of complicated sensibility. 5. Evaluative dimensions of decorative design were identified by Simple-Complicated, Cubic -Plane perceptive image differed in degree of similarity in spite of same formative design.

  • Profile machining using cutter diameter compensation is widely used in die and mould manufacturing. Especially automotive die makers try to use 3D-profile machining for trimming or flange dies. But the technological requirements and implementation issues haven't been defined. In this paper we summarized the requirements and issues of 3D-profile machining. Approximation of input profiles into sequences of line and helical arc is the first major issue. The second major issue is removing cutter interference from the approximated curves holding z-values when the maximum cutter diameter is given. Keeping constant machining width, local machining, path linking problems and several detail technological requirements are also discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the design components of wedding dresses and develop wedding nail art based on this for total wedding styling that reflects the changing needs of consumers. As a research method, 750 dress photos posted on the wedding platform Wedding Friends were analyzed for patterns, decorative details, and images of the wedding dress, and nail art designs were developed based on the results. As a result of the analysis, there were many natural patterns of flowers and plants, no patterns, and geometric patterns, and the arrangement of patterns was the most common. Looking at the decorative details, there were many wrinkle details, slits, and cutouts such as flounce, frill, and ruffle, and there were many lace, sequins, and spangles in trimming. The application area of the decorative detail was concentrated on the entire dress or neckline. Based on the analysis results, five wedding nail art pieces suitable for total wedding styling were developed. Three works of the concept of "Elegant Bride" used the patterns and sparkling trimming of the wedding dress, and two works of the concept of "romantic moment" used voluminous embosses to express romantic sensibilities in 2D and 3D forms. Through this study, we were able to confirm the importance and value of nail art in total wedding styling and are expected to contribute to the development of creative nail art.

  • The men's costume of eighteenth century showed feminine image of elegant decoration through the influence of social feminine atmosphere. As years go, heading towards the end of the eighteenth century, most of men's wear were simplified except vest, which had gorgeous decorations showing feminity. Therefore, men's vest of eighteenth was regarded as good item to apply to modern women's wear. The men's vest design of eighteenth century were divided into three types due to the passage of time, they showed the difference in the length, detail and trimming. Cutting lines in the modern fashion are used to give comfort and show the three-dimensional body silhouette. Also, cutting lines, as a decoration element, can define the costume's image and characteristics. Therefore, by using cutting lines, we can represent historical costume as modern costume and men's wear as women's wear. I made five women's costumes applying design characteristics of the men's vest of the eighteenth century. These five women's costumes have decorative aspect of men's vest of eighteenth century and simple aspect of men's costume. I applied dart manipulation in several different ways to make various cutting lines for women's costume. These cutting lines were emphasized by matching various colors and patterns of fabrics. I made small buttons and cords of these various fabrics. I sewed fabric buttons on five costumes for the purpose of function and decoration like buttons of the men's vest of eighteenth century. I applied fabric cords to decorate five costumes in various way. We should further study how to express important characteristics of historical costumes as modern costume in many ways.
