A Kinetic model of desorption of hydrogen in $Dy_2Co_7-H$ system has been suggested and rate equation of each step of the model has been compared with experimental results. The reat controlling step was hydrogen recombination in metal surface. The activation energy of over-all reaction was about 23kcal/mole.
The characteristics of desorption reaction and the heating values of used activated carbons collected from the companies of Shiwha/Banwal industrial complex were investigated. The desorption characteristics of used activated carbons were analyzed based on the data obtained from a thermogravimetric analyzer. The activation energies and reaction orders for desorption reaction of used activated carbons were calculated by employing Freeman-Carroll method. Heating values of volatile organic compounds(VOC) desorbed from used activated carbons were estimated based on the data obtained from a total hydrocarbon analyzer. It was found that the reaction orders of desorption of used activated carbons were 0.1~0.8, their desorption activation energies, 6.9~26.4 kJ/mol, and VOC heating values, 0.4~10.7 kcal/kg.
Adsorption is a major process causing the accumulation of arsenic onto soil. Therefore, further understanding of the adsorption/desorption characteristics of arsenic species on soil is essential for predicting their fate and preparing appropriate remediation strategy to remove arsenic from soil. In this study, the column adsorption/desorption experiment has been performed with As(III) and As(V) on soil. Experiment with As(III) was conducted under reducing condition, whereas that with As(V) was under oxidizing condition. Most of As(III) was remained on the oxidation state during the experiment. The results showed that the adsorption/desorption rate of As(III) was higher than that of As(V). Adsorption and desorption of arsenic species were not completely reversible in the column experiment. It was also found that As(V) in the column experiment was adsorbed more rapidly on soil than in the batch experiment.

In this paper, a three-dimensional hydrogen desorption model is applied to a thin double-layered annulus ZrCo hydride bed and validated against the temperature evolution data measured by Kang et al. The present model reasonably captures the bed temperature evolution behavior and the 90% hydrogen discharging time. In addition, the performance of thin double-layered annulus bed is evaluated by comparing with a simple cylindrical bed using hydrogen desorption model. This study provides multi-dimensional contours such as temperature and H/M atomic ratio in the metal hydride region. This numerical study provides fundamental understanding during hydrogen desorption process and indicates that efficient design of the metal hydride bed is critical to achieve rapid hydrogen discharging performance. The present three-dimensional hydrogen desorption model is a useful tool for the optimization of bed design and operating conditions.

Heat and hydrogen transfer characteristics have been experimentally investigated for a hydride reaction bed, in which hydride material LaN $i_{4,7}$A $l_{0.3}$ is contained for hydrogen storage. This problem is of particular interest in the design of metal hydride devices such as metal-hydride refrigerators, heat pumps, or metal-hydride storage units. Transient behavior of hydrogen transfer through the hydride materials as well as heat transfer is studied during absorption and desorption processes in detail. The experimental results obtained indicate that the mass flow of the hydrogen is strongly affected by the governing parameters, such as the initial pressure of the reaction bed, absorption or desorption period, and cooling or heating temperature. These mass transfer results are along with the heat transfer rate between hydride materials and heat transfer medium in the reaction bed.d.d.

Bioavailability study was conducted to elucidate the relationship between sorption/desorption and biodegradation of sorbed phenanthrene in seven different soils. Mineralization kinetics was determined for phenanthrene-sorbed soil slurries inoculated with Pseudomonas putida (ATCC strain 17484). Two biodegradation models were used to fit mineralization kinetics; (i) a first-order degradation model and (ii) a coupled degradation-desorption model. The biodegradation rates were in order of vermicompost >Bion peat > 50% organoclay > Pahokee > blank (no soil, medium only) > montmorillonite > Ohio shale. The mineralization rate constants increased as desorption-resistance of phenanthrene increased. Among the tested sorbents, active biodegradation of phenanthrene was observed in vermicompost and Bion peat. Biodegradation in these two sorbents exhibited little lag time and a high maximum mineralized capacity. The role of sorption/desorption in bioavailability of phenanthrene sorbed in soils was discussed.
This study intended to measure the desorption and adsorption EMC of four years old Peeled ginseng, Unpeeled ginseng and Taegeuk ginseng under various conditions$20^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$) and five levels of relative humidity from 31% to 88%) by the static method. Four widely used EMC models were selected and evaluated. Also the empirical model was evaluated. The results are summarized as follows ; 1) EMC difference between ginseng size was not found but found between ginseng species. EMC difference between Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was not found. EMC of Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was higher than that of Taegeuk ginseng. 2) The hysteresis, which is difference between desorption and adsorption EMC, was found. Desorption EMC was higher than adsorption EMC. The hysteresis at the same temperature decreased as relative humidity increase. The difference of hysteresis between Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was not large and the hysteresis of Taegeuk ginseng was smaller than those of other species. 3) Among the selected models, Henderson model was the best to predict the adsorption EMC of White ginseng(Peeled and Unpeeled ginseng), and Oswin model was the best to predict the desorption EMC of White ginseng and the desorption and adsorption EMC of Taegeuk ginseng. The models are as follows ; (a) White ginseng(Peeled and Unpeeled ginseng) ${\circ}$ Desorption EMC(Oswin model) : $$M=(0.1272-0.0007420T){\cdot}[RH/(1-RH)]^{(0.4164+0.001368T)}$$${\circ}$ Adsorption(Henderson model) : $$1-RH={\exp}[-0.0003480T_k\;{M_o}^{0.9231}]$$ (b) Taegeuk ginseng ${\circ}$ Desorption EMC(Oswin model) : $$M=(0.1051-0.0008439T)[RH/(1-RH)]^{(0.4553+0.003425T)}$$${\circ}$ Adsorption EMC(Oswin model) : $$M=(0.08247-0.0007559T){\cdot}[RH/(1-RH)]^{(0.5760+0.005540T)}$$ 4) The developed empirical models could predict the desorption and adsorption EMC for White and Taegeuk ginseng more precisely than selected models. The empirical models are as follows ; (a) White ginseng(Peeled and Unpeeled ginseng) ${\circ}$ Desorption EMC : $$M=0.124-0.000647T-0.216RH+0.373RH^2$$${\circ}$ Adsorption EMC : $$M=0.0879-0.000663T-0.197RH+0.399RH^2$$. (b) Taegeuk ginseng ${\circ}$ Desorption EMC : $$M=0.159-0.000728T-0.429RH+0.565RH^2$$${\circ}$ Adsorption EMC : $$M=0.123-0.000662T-0.384RH+0.555RH^2$$.
In this study, the waste activated carbon used in the painting process was filled into a cylindrical cartridge and the characteristics of desorption by low temperature gas were investigated. Adsorption and desorption experiments of toluene with activated carbon were conducted to determine the flow rate of desorption. In an experiment where desorption was performed while changing conditions at flow rates of 1, 2 and 4 ㎥ min-1, it was determined that 2 ㎥ min-1 was appropriate due to the high THC concentration and desorption time. In the early stage of the desorption of waste activated carbon, 2-butanone and MIBK (methyl isobutyl ketone) with a low boiling point were generated at a high rate in the gas component, and after that, the concentration of THC decreased and the BTX was desorbed at a high rate. The total calorific value of the gas component generated during the desorption of waste activated carbon was 316 kcal kg-1. From repeating the regeneration of waste activated carbon with toluene five times, it was observed that the iodine value and the specific surface area were relatively lower than that of new activated carbon. In the desorption experiment where two cylindrical cartridges were connected in series, the maximum THC concentration was about 470 ppm.
Adsorption and desorption characteristics of the representative 10 kinds components consisting of gasoline vapor on activated carbon were investigated at the temperature range of $-30^{\circ}C{\sim}25^{\circ}C$. The breakthrough curves of each vapors obtained by the Thomas model were well described the breakthrough experimental results of this study. The breakthrough times of each vapors were correlated with the molecular weight, density, and vapor pressure. The breakthrough times had greater correlation with boiling point than molecular weight and density. The slope of the breakthrough curve was a proportional relationship with the rate constant (k) of Thomas model expression. The higher the slope of the breakthrough curve, the rate constant was larger. The biggest slope vapor had the smallest adsorption capacity ($q_e$). Adsorption and desorption characteristics of mixed vapor similar to the gasoline vapor were studied at room temperature ($25^{\circ}C$). The mixed vapor consisting of 9 components; group A (pentane, hexene, hexane), group B (benzene, toluene), group C (octane, ethylbenzene, xylene, nonane) was examined. Group A was not nearly adsorbed because of substitution by group C, and the desorption capacity of group A was smaller than group C. The adsorbed substances were confirmed to be Group C.

A study on desorption and regeneration characteristics for silver ions adsorbed onto crab shells was carried out by means of Nitric acid soultion which was selected as the best desorbing agent. Desorption efficiency for silver ions was the highest as about 96% at the 1.0M of Nitric acid concentration. Also, silver ions was almost desorbed below 1.0 of S/L(mg/mL) ratio which is defined as the ratio of adding amount of adsorbent and volume of desorbing agent and most of desorption process was completed within 60min. And removal efficiency of reused crab shells for silver ions was maintained as about 92% until the 2nd cycle.
