장년층의 시각적 특성과 선호도를 고려한 휴대폰의 디스플레이 설계에 관한 연구: 컨조인트 분석과 반응표면분석을 활용하여 (A Study on Designing Mobile Phone Display in Consideration of Elder People's Optical Characteristics and Preferences: Using Conjoint Analysis and Response Surface Method)

  • This study is about designing mobile phone display in consideration of elder people's preferences by reason of their optical weakness. The research is closely connected with designing user-friendly interface by considering user characteristics. The criteria for first experiment are font sizes, font types, line spacing and background colors. With the experiment result, relative importance of each attribute and subjective preference are investigated by conjoint analysis. Secondly, an optimal display design for elder people is presented by response surface method on the basis of the result of conjoint analysis, other statistical analyses, and user interviews.

과학영재들의 적용실험 설계 과정에서 나타나는 과정요소 및 특징 (The Components and the Characteristics Revealed at the Processes of Designing Application Experiments of Science-gifted Students)

  • 이 연구에서는 중학교 1학년 과학영재 학생들의 적용실험에 대한 실험 설계 과정에서 나타나는 사고를 발성사고법을 이용해 조사하였고, 각 과정요소별로 과학영재의 수행 정도를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 과학영재들은 실험을 설계하는 과정에서 '상황설정', '전략결정', '가정설정', '측정계획', '가정의 타당화' 의 과정요소와 관련된 사고를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이러한 과정요소에 대한 과학영재들의 수행 정도는 다소 미흡한 측면이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 실험 설계 과정에서 문제를 해결하는데 적합한 목표 상황을 구체적으로 설정하거나 자신의 사고에 대해 적절한 준거를 통해 비판적으로 점검하는 능력이 부족한 것으로 드러났다. 이에 추상적이고 이해하기 어려운 문제 상황을 학생들에게 친숙한 구체적인 상황으로 바꾸어 생각하도록 하는 새로운 실험 설계 학습 전략의 가능성을 제안하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 실험 설계 능력과 같은 과학적 사고 기술을 강조함으로서 과학적 창의성을 계발하기 위한 과학영재 교육프로그램 개발에 유용한 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 연구에서는 초등 과학 영재들을 위한 과학 탐구 능력 평가 문항을 개발하고 이를 초등 과학 영재들에게 적용하여 그 활용성에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 과학 탐구 능력 평가 문항은 실험 기반의 형태로 '식물의 구조와 기능' 단원의 식물 관다발 구조에 대한 것으로 관찰 및 추리, 실험 설계, 결론 도출 영역으로 구성되어 있다. 그리고 평가 문항의 채점 기준은 관찰 및 추리 영역의 경우 쌍떡잎식물과 외떡잎식물의 관다발 배열과 구조, 물관의 위치, 잉크에 식물을 담가 두는 이유 등의 요소를 가지고 상세화하였다. 실험 설계 영역의 경우 식물해부 방법, 실험 과정 구성 등을 요소로, 결론 도출영역의 경우는 실험 결과에 대한 예상, 예상과 결과에 대한 비교와 검증 등으로 상세화하였다. 이렇게 개발된 과학 탐구 능력 평가 문항을 대학부설 과학영재교육원에서 교육받고 있는 22명의 초등 과학영재들에게 적용하였다. 그 결과 과학영재들에게 활용 가능성이 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다.

  • Crossover design is officially except for special occasions recommended by KFDA and FDA for assessing Bioequivalence between two drugs one for reference and the other for innovator. Such design is regarded as a special case of latin square split-polt or repeated measurement design and its main difference with other designing methods is that each subject in an experiment is exposed two drugs in sequence. Therefore general statistical analysis is not suitable since the model for this experiment includes carryover effect in addition to period and sequence effect. in this paper analysis for crossover model with two drugs and its interpretation are mainly discussed and an example is given for illustration.

  • This paper suggests the Ethernet aggregation to XGMII framing procedure (EAXFP) mechanism to economically combine the traffic adaptation technology with the link aggregation method in designing 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) interfaces. This design sidesteps the data-loss issues that can result from designing an interface with only one link. The most critical issue in relation to the link aggregation interface is the algorithm used to control frame distribution between the ten ports. The proposed EAXFP mechanism offers an efficient link aggregation method as well as an efficient frame distribution algorithm, which maximize the throughout of the 10 GbE interface. In the experiment and analysis of the proposed mechanism, it was also discovered that the 10 GbE interface that uses the proposed EAXFP mechanism significantly reduced the packet loss rate. When there will be heavy traffic loads come about in the future, the proposed EAXFP mechanism assures an efficient and economical transmission performance on the router system.

Designing a Vibrotactile Reading System for Mobile Phones

  • Vibrotactile feedback is widely used in designing non-visual interactions on mobile phones, such as message notification, non-visual reading, and blind use. In this work, novel vibrotactile codes are presented to implement a non-visual text reading system for mobile phones. The 26 letters of the English alphabet are formed in an index table with four rows and seven columns, and each letter is mapped using the codes of vibrations. Two kinds of vibrotactile codes are designed with the actuator's on and off states and with specific lengths (short and long) assigned to each state. To improve the efficiency of tactile perception and user satisfaction, three user experiments are conducted. The first experiment explores the maximum number of continuous vibrations and minimum vibration time of the actuator's on and off states that the human can perceive. The second experiment determines the minimum interval between continuous vibrations. The vibrotactile reading system is designed and evaluated in the third experiment according to the results of the two preceding experiments. Results show that the character reading accuracy reaches 91.7% and the character reading speed is approximately 617.8 ms. Our method has better reading efficiency and is easier to learn than the traditional Braille coding method.

Remote Experiments for Control Education

  • This paper suggests remote experiments using the internet for the control education. The remote experiment is composed of equipment server computers, networks accessible to internet, and real plants such as inverted pendulums, crane systems and microcontrollers. Additionally, it requires a server program that has I/O functions with plants and calculate the control, an interface program bridging between web and the server program, and the home page including the detail explanation for the usage. For effective educations, how to perform experiments and how to combine the experiment with lectures will be discussed. The simple experiments by entering a few control parameters and the complex experiments by designing overall controls, will be explained. Technologies related with the remote experiment and other possible remote experiment will be introduced. It is demonstrated that the remote experiment will be very useful, particular for control education where students have difficulties in performing the experiments for lack of experimental equipments.

시나리오 기반의 생태마을 계획 및 설계 지원 GIS도구 개발 (Development of a Scenario-based GIS Tool for Planning and Design of Eco-Village)

  • A tool to assist in designing an eco-village was developed using GIS(Geographical Information System) and RS(Remote Sensing) data and images. The difficulties of using GIS by untrained designers are resolved by simplifying the usage and making it a user friendly scenario-based tool, so that the designers with limited knowledge in GIS can use as a design tool. For this task, Da-Mu-Po, a village in Pohang, Gyeongbuk was picked as a site to test the design tool; through planning and designing as an eco friendly village, we tested the flexibility and usability of our newly developed design tool. From this experiment we also introduced test version of stand-alone GIS design tool by constructing program scenario and GUI(Graphic User Interface).

  • In a linear regression model the idependent variables are frequently subject to measurement errors. For this case, the problem of estimating unknown parameters has been extensively discussed in the literature while very few has been concerned with the effect of measurement errors on prediction. This paper investigates the behavior of the predicted values of the dependent variable in terms of the average mean square error of prediction (AMSEP). AMSEP may be used as a criterion for selecting an appropriate estimation method, for designing an estimation experiment, and for developing cost-effective future sampling schemes.

  • This paper proposes a method for designing the inductor to minimize power loss for boost converter. The proposed inductor design method uses genetic algorithm to find an optimal inductance and an optimal frequency which minimize the power loss at rated power. The validity of proposed inductor design method is verified by simulation and experiment.
