이력형 감쇠장치를 이용한 내진보강 예비설계절차 (A Preliminary Design Procedure for Seismic Retrofit Using Hysteretic Dampers)

  • The use of dampers is being considered a means to improve the seismic performance of buildings. It may take considerable time and effort to find an optimal design solution since repeated three-dimensional nonlinear time history analyses are required. Therefore, a preliminary design procedure for seismic retrofit using hysteretic dampers was proposed in this study. In the proposed procedure, the amount of retrofit (required number of dampers) is estimated from the capacity curve of the building before retrofit and allowable story drift of the building. In combining the capacity curves of the building and the dampers, the deformation demand for the dampers can be easily checked against their deformation capacity. The equations to transform the device displacement to roof displacement for the combination of capacity curves are developed. The proposed procedure was applied to the seismic retrofit design of sample buildings. The study found that the estimated capacity curve was very close to the actual capacity curve obtained from the pushover analysis, which can determine an appropriate configuration to meet the required seismic performance.

순조(純祖)-순종실록(純宗實錄)에 나타난 포백척(布帛尺)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on Pobeckchuck in the History from the Sunjo to the Sunjong Dynasty)

  • This study aims at defining the meaning of Pobeckchuck in the historical view-point, which appeared in the History of Joseon Dynasty, regarding the periods from the ruling period of Sunjo to that of Sunjong as the latter part of history. Pobeckchuck used in King Sejong was redressed in accordance with the measurement in the Kyeonggukdadejeon(code), in which time one Pobeckchuck was 46.80cm long. It is known that Juchuck, Hwangjongchuck, Youngjochuck, Joraegichuck etc. which had been used in the ruling period of Sejong Dynasty, were used till the period of Youngjo. Also, the document shows that in the 12th ruling period of Sunjo, Pobeckchuck was used for measurement, and in the 20th ruling period of Sunjo, newly-made ruler was only used for the measurement of fields, but no more details about how long it was. But according to the document complied at that time, one Pobeckchuck was 46.80cm long, which fact reveals that the same measurement was used as in the ruling period of Sunjo. When all the measurement laws which were established in the 3rd year of Junghee, the 6th year of Kwangmu were abolished, Pobeckchuck was solely banned from its use, which fact offers a glimpse of how confusing at that period was. The comparison and examination among many documents in the latter part of Joseon Dynasty show the differences within about 4cm that one Pobeckchuck ranged from 44.80cm to 48.80cm long. But no other document on measurement appeared in the History of Joseon Dynasty, except for the 46.80cm. Thus, the 46.80cm corrected in the ruling period of Sunjo proves that one chuck in Pobeckchuck adopted by the dynasty was used as the measurement of length till the ruling period of Sunjong.

MF-TDMA DAMA 방식 위성 망에서 효율적인 자원할당 시스템 설계 (Design of An Effective Resource Allocation System in the Satellite Network using MF-TDMA DAMA Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 MF-TDMA (Multi Frequency-Time Division Multiple Access) DAMA (Demand-Assigned Multiple Access) 방식을 사용하는 위성 망에서 지상 단말이 네트워크 제어기에게 자원을 요청할 때, 자신에게 유입되어지는 트래픽에 대한 이전 정보(History) 즉, 트래픽 발생 패턴이나 트래픽 종류 등을 바탕으로 자원을 요청하고, 네트워크 제어기는 지상 단말들이 이전에 요청했던 정보(History)를 바탕으로 보다 효율적으로 위성 자원을 할당하여 위성 망 자원 할당 시간의 지연으로 인한 다량의 데이터 폐기를 최대한 억제하기 위한 MF-TDMA DAMA 방식 위성 시스템을 설계하였다. 미군의 전략적 군사 정보망 (Warfighter Information Network-Tactical, WIN-T) 커뮤니티에서는 L-3 Linkabit 다중 주파수-시간 분할 다중 접속 (MF-TDMA) 요청에 의해 할당되어지는 다중 접속 (DAMA) 네트워크 중심 파형 (Network Centric Waveform, NCW)을 full-mesh IP over SHF 위성 통신을 위한 네트워크 표준으로 선택하였다. MF-TDMA 위성 망에서는 네트워크 제어기(Network Controller, NC)가 최대 255개의 지상 단말들 (Earth Terminals, ETs)의 주기적인 자원요청에 대하여 동적으로 위성 망 자원을 할당하여 단말들 간의 통신을 가능하도록 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 해양플랜트용 매니폴드 구조물의 내진해석을 위해, 단순화 모델에 대해 응답스펙트럽해석(RSA) 및 시간이력해석(THA)을 여러 조건으로 진행하여 비교 검토하였다. 응답스펙트럼해석은 ISO19901-2에 따른 내진설계 절차를 이용하였다. 시간이력해석의 경우, 응답스펙트럼으로 가속도와 변위에 대한 지진이력을 인공적으로 만든뒤 Explicit와 Implicit 솔버를 사용하여 해석하였다. 단자유도 모델을 사용하여 해석방법을 검증하였으며, 매니폴드 구조물을 단순화한 모델에서 시간이력해석과 응답스펙트럼해석법의 차이를 분석하였다. 복잡한 실제 구조물에 대해서 직접적인 시간이력해석은 불가능하므로 응답스펙트럼해석법을 적용하였고, 단순화 모델에서 분석한 결과 차이를 활용하여 실제 구조물의 안전성을 판단하였다.

백제 문양전의 개명(改名)을 위한 연구 -부여 규암면 외리 출토 '귀형문(鬼形文)'을 중심으로- (A Study for Renaming of Paekje's Designed Tiles -Centering Around the Ghost Image Design Excavated at Oe-ri Kyuam-myun, Buyeo-)

  • We Koreans are very proud of this nation's cultural history over some five millenniums. But most of the relics found in the nation date back up to two thousand years. Under this circumstance, we are wondering the gap and missing of three thousand years. In our traditional literature of history, [Chiwoo] was a military god of supreme dignity and virtue. He was a symbol of brave and strong warriors and since the antiquity, he has been kept alive deeply in the mind of the Korean race. Considering findings through this study, the researcher could provide a conclusion as described below. 1) The name of Paekje's designed tiles was initially made by a Japanese scholar who had first found the antique relic. According to studies by a few of Korean researchers, the name is usually called despite its relation with a historical background of the excavated objects has not been fully studied. 2) After the patterned objects of the Korean antique Kingdom, Japanese researchers reported that [Chiwoo] was a military god as exorcist and probably represented something in the form of a ghost, although there were arguments that the military god was the very being to influence the image of the ghost. This report suggests that the Japanese community didn't downgrade the military god onto the level of a ghost. 3) One of our antique nations, Paekje at that time sought to determine the origin and culture of the Koreans by making multiple exchange relations with China, and probably accepting cultures of the Chinese Han nation and those of the Chinese South and North Dynasty period. Based on findings from a relevant literature, [Sulyigi], people of Paekje attempted to show express the image of Chiwoo in their own unique ways and then deliver the strong bravery of [Chiwoo] to us, or their descendents. This can explain that those findings as above mentioned are consistent with the designed tiles of Paekje, and that the tiles should not be named as the design of ghost. 4) The designed tiles involved elements of Taoism and Buddhism and substantially considered the spirit of four gods which was mobilized for the tomb construction and selection at that time. But this should never be a reason why all of the horned figures seen in tomb wall paintings are collectively treated as ghosts. 5) From the view of historic literature, we can no doubt say that the Heavenly Emperor [Chiwoo] was our ancestor. It is not better to say that the relic stuffs as excavated should be referred to the design of ghost image only in that they have yet to be associated historically with other relics. This claim would be newly changed as it becomes clear with historical remains that our antique ancestors kept doing positive activities along the coast of the antique kingdom, Balhae.

시계열하중을 이용한 PSC 박스 거더 고속철도교량의 동적성능 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Dynamic Capacity Assessment of PSC Box Girder High Speed Railway Bridges Using Time Series Load)

  • 고속철도교량의 설계개념은 정적하중에 따른 충격계수를 고려하여 기존 교량 구조물의 강성을 증가시키기 위한 방안을 적용하고 있으며, 전반적인 구조설계 과정은 선진 외국기술에 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 고속철도(Korea Train eXpress: KTX)의 긴 연장(380 m)과 고속(300 km/h) 주행은 공진현상에 상당한 영향을 미치기 때문에 고속철도교량의 동적증폭계수(DAF) 및 동적성능 평가는 상세한 검토가 필수적으로 수행되어야 할 것이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 전형적인 PSC 박스 거더 고속철도교량을 대상으로 동적성능을 효율적으로 검토하고자 하며, 합리적인 구조설계를 위한 기초자료를 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해, 기존문헌을 토대로 KTX의 하중선도를 고려하여 정적해석을 수행하였다. 또한 다양한 해석변수를 고려하여 KTX의 이동하중을 시계열하중으로 변환하였으며, 변환된 시계열하중을 이용하여 시간이력해석을 합리적으로 평가하였다. 이때, 시계열하중을 산정하기 위한 변수는 KTX의 하중재하 절점간격, 시간증분 및 속도변화를 고려하였다. FE해석 결과를 바탕으로 PSC 박스 거더 고속철도교량의 동적성능을 체계적으로 검토하였으며, 국내외 관련규정에 따라 구조안전성을 정량적으로 평가하였다.

  • When the past architecture is renovated, the important point is to approach from social and historical point of view. In Europe, there are many cultural and architectural hereditaments by backed-up ancient history and are usually happened modernistic applications of these architectures. Specially, when the past architecture is renovated, this study is focused on cases of museum and gallery which the people are approachable by me. I studied how to expressed the durability and to distinguish the design characteristics that is connected with the past from the European cases at modernistic point of time. The design characteristics are discovered two kinds. The first is 'consideration of the past architecture' and the second is 'consideration of the present age'.   • Although design process is a creative work, it includes a lot of iterations. Statistics show that about 15 to 40 percent of the total design activity is spent on time-consuming retrieval of technical informations such as standard part, handbook, engineering equation,previous design and so on. On the other hand, product structure and parts specifications change with the design process, which also need to be traced accordingly. The BOM, design history, and all the relecant technical informations can be managed can be efficiently within a unified framework called configuration. This paper presents a prototype of a configuration manager which is a part of the engineering data management system for machine tools.

Incorporating nonstructural finish effects and construction quality in a performance-based framework for wood shearwall design

  • This paper presents results from a study to extend a performance-based shearwall selection procedure to take into account the contributions of nonstructural finish materials (such as stucco and gypsum wallboard), construction quality issues, and their effects on the displacement performance of engineered wood shearwalls subject to seismic loading. Shearwall performance is evaluated in terms of peak displacements under seismic loading (characterized by a suite of ordinary ground motion records) considering different combinations of performance levels (drift limits) and seismic hazard. Shearwalls are analyzed using nonlinear dynamic time-history analysis with global assembly hysteretic parameters determined by fitting to actual shearwall test data. Peak displacement distributions, determined from sets of analyses using each of the ground motion records taken to characterize the seismic hazard, are postprocessed into performance curves, design charts, and fragility curves which can be used for risk-based design and assessment applications.

  • In terms of modern design history, De Stijl movement had continued as one of influential groups by 1931, and it attempted to pursue universial reality that combined painting and architecture, seeking a new style based on Neo-Plasticism and succeeded the nineteen century's Art and Craft movement and Art Nouveau. Especially, the De Stijl movement provided 1920's rationalism with new space pattern and its ideas greatly affected the Bauhaus movement such as Walter Gropius or Mies van der Rohe. De Stijl's utopian idea that claimed on the conformity of art and life contributed modernism movement combined with scientific and rational view, and even now experts its lasting power with the concept of time and space free from simple cube in modern architecture and interior design. The tue meaning of the De Stijl movements is that is sis the basis of general ideas, and the change of modern architecture is based on this modern styled foundation. It may be the unchangeable fact like Russell Hitchocok says, "The architectural style and pattern which everyone admitts its importance has the value of living."
