  • The recent project has been progressed from focusing on the establishment of having an international sense and making a symbolic building in Cheju Island. Its purpose is to provide the best medical services to the inhabitants, and to reflect the local feelings and the entire design concept based upon the role of the health promotion. This study is to explain the process of a traditional architecture method of Cheju Island applied to the modern design element and re-composition into the layout plan, the composition diagram of the exterior, the elevations, etc. of the drawings of the project.

  • Battery Energy Storage System has been studied and adopted actively by foreign advanced utilities, in order to utilize off peak energy. The outline of 20KW Battery Storage System design of the project - the study on the development of Battery Electric Energy Storage System, carried out by KERI KEPCO, is presented. The first target of this project is the conceptual design of MW-class Battery Storage System and 20KW Battery Storage System is its the small scale system.

  • A study on Technical Specifications of the current collection system in G7 Korean High Speed Train Project is performed in this paper. First, an appropriate level of contact wire tension for 350km/h commercial operation is proposed based on the foreign high speed train operation experiences and a relevant technical criterion, Second, two optimized design specifications of the pantograph for G7 Korean High Speed Train are proposed based on current collection quality. In order to perform design optimization, a formulation on the follow-up characteristics of a pantograph with 3 levels of masse-spring-damper is derived in this paper. Dynamic design parameters of the pantograph are adjusted to maximize follow-up capability at the dropper and span passing frequencies.

  • This paper introduces a project for the development of an F-125 machine using 3D PLM systems including 3D CAD, CAM, CAE, PDM, and DMU systems. Here, the F-125 machine is a formula racing car equipped with a 125cc motorcycle engine. A development process and computer-integrated environment was established using 3D PLM systems on the conceptual basis of concurrent and virtual engineering. A DMU model for a full vehicle was built using CATIA V.5 and used to check interference between parts and to simulate assembly process. This DMU-based approach enables to find and fix manufacturing problems in the early design stage. All development activities have been done by the graduate and undergraduate students of the automotive engineering department of Kookmin University. Through the project, the students could acquire knowledge about car development process and 3D PLM systems in automotive industry.

  • 산업체가 요구하는 능력 중심의 현장 인력을 양성하기 위하여 산업인력공단에서는 국가직업능력표준을 개발하였고 국가직업능력표준에 의거하여 제시된 과정과 교재개발 방안에 따라 프로젝트 기반의 기계설계교육용 훈련 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램을 몇 개 대학에서 적용하면서, 그 유용성을 학생들이 과정 중 수행한 프로젝트보고서로서 제시하였다.

  • Oil-filled power cables and XLPE power cables have been globally applied for extra-high-voltage underground power transmission lines. The application of XLPE cables for the transmission lines have been largely increased at the domestic and overseas projects because of some issues. O.F cables have some week points, related with the issues of the environmental pollution and the needed maintenance work, even though they have been applied for several ten years and their reliability has been proven. Meanwhile, the demands on XLPE power cables increase as their manufacturing technologies have been improved and their simplicity of installations has been focused on. In Korea, for the first time, the 275kV XLPE cable is to be applied at an overseas power plant project. This paper introduces the project profile, the design of the XLPE cable and its accessories, the cable system design and the installation design.

  • Actuator (chopper) and sensors failures resulting from electric shock and mechanical vibration generating by rail irregularities are the serious problem deteriorating the performance in the electromagnetic suspension systems. Thus, this paper proposes the reliable output feedback controller for the electromagnetic levitation systems against actuator, air-gap sensor and acceleration sensor failures. The designed controller is an extend version of a novel design technique which has the design method of the output feedback controller using dynamic compensator. The benefits of this scheme are demonstrated through the experimental results for the proposed controller against chopper, air-gap sensor and acceleration sensor failures of electromagnetic levitation system.

  • The project comprised the construction of the new oil pier and associated topside facilities and demolition of exiting south pier. The site is located approximately 33km south of Kuwait city at MAA refinery. The approach trestle and berth structures of the new oil pier were designed to be supported by steel tubular piles Total 2,480 numbers of piles(795 piles at Approach Trestle, 1187 piles at Berth 1 -4 and 498 piles at Berth 5-6) had to be driven through the calcareous silty sand In this study, the design procedures for offshore steel pipe piles, evaluation for the compression and tension capacities by static and dynamic load test and effective driving criteria by the final set values are discussed

  • This study discussed for library development of the 3 dimensional design system for the progressive developmental world wide plant industry. Its previous background had spatial limitation by utilizing 2 dimensional CAD. This work presented an effective mode for improving man-hour by applying with 3 dimensioal design system through theoretical definition, category, and means of basic man-hour. We researched an effective method for reducing man-hour through applied example on the actual project by comprehending affection of extra development for library on man-hour.

  • The design program of fitting and thrust block including various shapes and sizes was developed for the GMR project (Great Man-made River Project in Lybia). It can automatically recalculated the minimum size of fitting required for the structural performance and can also determine the proper size of fitting for the safe and economic design by users. It was found that the results of this program was accurate and efficient when it was compared to other references. This program is also developed with GUI (Graphic User Interface) technology for the convenience of users.
