This research and technology development project is based on the concept and plan of Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd., and designed by Nikken Sekkei Ltd., and is aiming to realize 350 m supertall timber-framed buildings in urban areas by 2041, the 350 year anniversary of Sumitomo Forestry's founding(Fig. 1). By constructing office-based multi-use buildings which have 70 stories above ground with GFA of 455,000 ㎡, using a huge amount of timber of 185,000 ㎥, this project envisions to connect forests and cities, and to solve the problems in both of forests and cities. At the present stage, the main objective is to identify the issues related to wood, such as building structural systems, construction methods, materials used, and resource development, and to create a roadmap for future technologies to be researched and developed.

Now, the goal of the third generation KTX project is to create a new species of high speed train in order to open a new era of high speed railway system in history by authentic Korean technology and innovative design. Now the third generation KTX, must go beyond the original stagnant paradigm and be positioned as an emotional resource which is creating a shift in the public's perspective of transportation and expanding the idea that transportation intersects the two distinct realms of culture and environment as well. In addition, the overall design should reflect the Korean culture and characteristics, simple yet resonant, both the interior space and the exterior fuselage should portray the dynamic heritage of Korea such as the powerful yet subdued energy of Jung Joong Dong. In short, through the symbolic key words in Korean, Dong(Dynamics), Mek(Pulse), Ryu(Flow), Gam(Sensibility), the third generation KTX design project aims to create an new identity of Korean high speed railway which can stand globally.

The objective of this paper is to introduce a project on developing construction method based estimation system. It means a 3D product model based estimation system to effectively and efficiently manage estimation process during the project life-cycle. This paper describes a outline and method for 3D based estimation system. Normally, it is not easy to take-off the quantity from 3D CAD model, because of all different depths of the quantity take off in each design development stage and nation. This study shows how to keep the balance of its depths in each design development stage such as schematic design, detail design, shop drawing, and so forth.

The present design, which is English Zone Development Project for 'G' Elementary School at Seo gu, Incheon, contained various booths for experiential learning corners as well as spaces of teaching learning through group study, dramas and role plays, breaking away from the structure and atmosphere of traditional language labs, and at the same time it include a school building as an affiliated space where the whole students can gather for discussion and learning. The general design concept adopted the atmosphere of an exotic street, installing five theme booths (airport, bank, hospital, book/game store and shop) along the wall and applying the image of road to the floor in order to perform role plays. The blackboard and furniture were also designed to produce the atmosphere of street so that elementary students take interest and actively participate in learning.

This paper presents the system design of high speed linear synchronous machine in the required speed and thrust considering power of inverter. in this paper, the design of manufacturing motor is optimized by characteristics of motor parameters with the variation of coil turns of rotor and stator. And, the dynamic simulation are performed from the (d-q) transformation of the current and voltage and the mechanical dynamic equation composed of the mover mass and damping ratio. Finally, the results of design and analysis are verificated by finite element analysis.

This paper will explain the importance of using interactive prototyping tools in the HCI design process. The Future of HCI education project performed by ACM SIGCHI shows that students recognize that prototyping, especially paper prototyping and interactive prototyping, are both very important. Two widely-used prototyping tools in academy, Balsamiq and Oven, will be compared and rated by students according to their preferences. We choose the Balsamiq as our design tool because Oven can be designed on the web but applications cannot be designed directly on Mac or Windows. The Balsamiq tool will help you understand the task process of UI work and highlight the benefits of digital prototyping to test the execution of expected results in a fast fashion compared to high-level prototyping. We also present the outcome of this work through two case studies. In particular, the smart mirror project with voice recognition function shows the effectiveness of the proposed method as an example.

The value of intangible assets of a company attracts attention in enterprise management environment drastically changing. Following such a trend, many companies have adopted knowledge management. Especially in construction industry of which success of a project is easily affected by the capacity of various participants and work performers, we may find many cases to which the knowledge managements have been adopted. However, the domestic design companies have tended to be late to introduce the knowledge management or have difficulty in effective use of KMS already constructed. This study suggests KMS based on BPM (Business Process Management) and drives its effects to improve problems mentioned above. We drives the expected effects by studying the existing studies and surveying domestic design companies and suggests Prototype for introducing a real system.

The tire production facility is a large-scale construction with the complexity of a manufacturing process. The process utilities should be wide-ranging as an effective arrangement of them is highly important. All the necessary information should be clarified together with the manufacturer at the basic planning stage, and this design should be developed to comply with the local culture and regulations. It is important to carry out more advanced engineering in terms of process, cost and quality, even if it is difficult to standardize due to the cultural and geographical conditions and regulations. The key point is to reflect all the given conditions and make a clear design during the design stage, to eliminate the problems after the construction has begun. Another key point is the delivery system, which must be totally managed from the initial design stage until the construction stage by proven companies. Flexibility, quick action, and single responsibility will be the fundamental features in all the steps of the project.

The people in the AEC industry have acknowledged and long struggled to solve the critical low productivity issue of the entire construction industry. Integrated Project Delivery has been suggested as a solution to this problem and to take this into practice many countries have come up with BIM guidelines. In order to make this a success, BIM design process and LOD must be dealt in advance. The following research has selected 3 out of 16 guidelines that specifically describes BIM process and LOD, and intends to fully acknowledge its concept by comparing the approach and definition of LOD in the BIM Design Process.
