  • In a vacuum circuit breaker mechanism, a spring-actuated linkage system is used to satisfy the desired opening and closing characteristics of electric contacts. Because the opening dynamics of electric contacts is determined by such a linkage system, the stiffness, free length and attachment points of a spring become the important design parameters. In this paper, based on the energy conservation that the total system energy is constant throughout the operating range of a mechanism, a systematic design procedure of determining the spring design parameters is presented. The proposed procedure is applied to the design of an opening spring for satisfying the specified opening characteristics.

  • 본 연구에서는 외부조건과 입력이 일정하게 주어져 있는 냉동 사이클에 대하 여 열교환기의 용량을 설계변수로 하여 출력과 효율이 최대가 되는 조건, 즉 최적 설 계조건을 살펴 보고자 한다. 아울러 이 조건과 엔트로피 생성 최소조건과의 관계와 비가역 사이클인 경우도 살펴보았다.

  • This study proposes a high-performance PI controller design method for an oil cooler system in conjunction with zero position adjustment and the characteristic parameters in its closed loop control system. The characteristic parameters included PI gains are decided by design specifications such as settling time and overshoot. The fine tuning on decided gains was performed by adjustment the zero position to get more desirable control performances. The simulations and experimental results show that the proposed PI controller design for an oil cooler system was possible to accomplish good control performances and to satisfy the design specifications.

  • So far, this report is written by knowledge and standard through several reference drawing and experienced contents with drawing hemming die. The contents about actual design is so huge that I will write about it next time. Timing chart is important to hemming die because of link position and numbers. Timing chart need a very much design time because link number and position have to applied for each case. In this paper developed an automatic timing chart and link position by relation and Pro/Program of Pro/Engineer. The method used relation rule of design parameter for timing chart. In the future, I believe that simple easy to correct and reasonable price hemming die will be producted.

행위 기반 로봇에서의 행위의 자동 설계 기법 (A Self-Designing Method of Behaviors in Behavior-Based Robotics)

  • An automatic design method of behaviors in behavior-based robotics is proposed. With this method, a robot can design its behaviors by itself without aids of human designer. Automating design procedure of behaviors can make the human designer free from somewhat tedious endeavor that requires to predict all possible situations in which the robot will work and to design a suitable behavior for each situation. A simple reinforcement learning strategy is the main frame of this method and the key parameter of the learning process is significant change of reward value. A successful application to mobile robot navigation is reported too.

  • This paper presents an algorithm for the permanent magnet shape optimization of a large scale BLDC(Brushless DC) motor to minimize the cogging torque. A response surface method (RSM) using multiquadric radial basis function is employed to interpolate the objective function in design parameter space. In order to get a reasonable response surface with relatively small number of sampling data points, additional sampling points are added on the basis of design sensitivity analysis computed by using FEM. The algorithm has 2 stages: the first stage is to determine the PM arc angle, and the 2nd stage is to optimize the magnet pole shape. The developed algorithm is applied to a 5MW BLDC motor to get a minimum cogging torque. After 3 iterations with 4 design parameters, the cogging torque is reduced to 13.2% of the initial one.

  • Robust design in industry is an a, pp.oach to reducing performance variation of quality characteristic value in products and processes. Taguchi has used the signal-to-noise raio(SN) to achieve the a, pp.opriate set of operating conditions where variablity around target is low in the Taguchi parameter design. Taguchi has dealt with having constraints on both the mean and variability of a characteristic (the dual response problem) by combining information on both mean and variability into an SN. Many Statisticians criticize the Taguchi techniques of analysis, particularly those based on the SN. In this paper we propose a substantially simpler optimization procedure for robust design to solve the dual response problems without resorting to SN. Two examples illustrate this procedure in the two different experimental design(product array, combined array) a, pp.oaches.

  • This paper deals with design of high speed linear switched reluctance motor(LSRM). First, we derived design factor from pole arc ratio of stator and mover, and calculated time constant using inductance and resistance. Second, we decided design parameter from design factor using time constant. Finally, analyze characteristics for LSRM using finite element analysis.

  • In this paper, LS-SynRM (Line Start-Synchronous Reluctance Motor) has been attracting attention in replace of induction motor which hardly provides high efficiency. Compared to induction motor, LS-SynRM has better efficiency per unit area. This study demonstrated the electromagnetic design methods of LS-SynRM while maintaining the frame of existing IE3 induction motor for blower. We documented the design procedures for generating high saliency which is the most essential and mechanical stress analysis is also treated. In conclusion, we proved the validity of our design by manufacturing and testing our LS-SynRM models.

Engineering Applications of Jet Impingement Associated with Vertical Launching System Design

  • In the course of missile system design, jet plume impingement is encountered in designing airframe as well as launchers, requiring careful investigation of its effect on the system. In the present paper, recent works on such topic are presented to demonstrate usefulness of CFD results in helping design the hardware. The jet impinging flow structure exhibits such complex nature as shock shell, plate shock and Mach disk depending on the flow parameters. The main parameters are the ratio of the jet pressure to the ambient pressure and the distance between the nozzle and the wall. In the current application, the nozzle contour and the pressure ratio are held fixed, but the jet impinging distance is varied to illuminate the characteristics of the jet plume with the distance. The same methodology is then applied to a complex vertical launcher system (VLS), capturing its flow structure and major design parameter. These applications involving jets are thus hoped to demonstrate the usefulness and value of CFD in designing a complex structure in the real engineering environment.
