The present study deals with developing a new modem design of quilt which is characteristic of Korean traditional patterns. The goal of this study is to make some samples of the pattern as a basic motive of quilt work by using some Korean traditional patterns that could be found in roof tiles, windows, Neung-Hwa (a kind of wood cut for printing book covers), and others. This study examines the concept of quilts, their historical background, and their characteristics. This study also examines traditional patterns that are applicable to the patchy work of quilt, discussing the characteristic of both the Korean patterns and Nubi (Korean traditional quilt). In the process of pattern development, the original patterns were simplified and transformed to apply them to the modem quilt pattern. Fabrics (100% cotton) of similar colors were used to emphasize quilting lines. This study has found followings; 1) The geometric pattern usually consists of dots, lines, and faces. These patterns are suitable for pieced quilts. 2) The curvilinear pattern found in roof tiles or Yi-Dynasty coins, can be easily re-expressed by the applique technique. Combinations of fabrics and motive compositions can express quilts in realistic and creative ways. 3) Addition of Korean traditional quilt techniques, such as parallel lines or swastika stitches, to the traditional object-derived quilt patterns led to the creation of images close to the already existing Korean quilt, Nubi.
The purpose of this study was to analyze and categorize the factors of appearance management motivation of male and female college students in Busan. It also aimed to analyze the differences in their clothing behavior and make-up behavior. The data were analyzed by Factor analysis, Cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, and multi-response analysis. The results of this study are as follows: There were four factors including self -development, emphasis on the physical appearance, individuality-seeking, and sexual appealing. These subjects were categorized into three different types of groups: social-self-management type, passive appearance management type, and individuality-seeking type. In terms of the differences in the clothing purchase behavior of the physical appearance management motivation group, there were significant differences in the criteria of their selections for clothing. The most important factor was the design, followed by the price and the fabrics. The differences in cosmetics selection were investigated in order to analyze the differences in their make-up behavior of physical appearance management motivation group. The results showed that the quality, the price, and the manufacturing country were considered as the most important criteria for their selection of cosmetics.

In this study, we have dealt with a design characteristic of outer-rotor type permanent magnet (PM) motor applied for Engine Cooling Fan (ECF). When we design a motor with structure like this type, it is required as a requisite to consider 3-Dimensional (3-D) effect by implementing a non-linear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) due to a yoke-ceiling, which is perpendicular to the axis of rotation. We have analyzed identical models under three different conditions. The analysis has been performed through a non-linear 2-Dimensional (2-D) and 3-D FEA. Finally, the results have been compared with Back Electro-Motive Force (BEMF) value of actual motor model. As a result, a yoke-ceiling function as an additional flux path and the operating point on B-H curve of rotor material is shifted to non-saturation region relatively. Accordingly, magnetic flux linkage can be increased and motor size can be decreased under same input condition to satisfy ECF specification, such as torque.
The purpose of the study is to develop the competitive swimming suit design with Korean traditional images. which excels in dimension of functionality, aesthetics, and symbolism. To accomplish this study, first. a theoretical examination about Korean image was added, on the basis of the practical research about professional swimmers' preferences as well as the theoretical research about the history of swimming suits and the qualifications of competitive swimming suits in the prior study. Next, practical designing was performed to achieve the creative designs according to Lamb & Kallal's design process. and the superiority of the newly designed swimming suits was evaluated by using Grant's alpha-beta model. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : First. in the problem apprehension stage. the need for swimming suit designs with Korean traditional images for professional swimmers was acknowledged, and three major criteria. which are functionality, aesthetics. and symbolism has been verified. Second. in the preliminary brainstorming stage, considerable amounts of data for the design concept considering the criteria above have been gathered. The athletic one-piece for women and the brief for men in style and nylon/lycra in fabric were used in the aspect of functionality. And the S Korean traditional colors in color and Tae-guk motive and others in pattern were selected to apply Korean traditional images in the aspects of aesthetics and symbolism. Finally, the 13 series of creative designs with 4 themes( l17pieces in total) have been suggested. Third, in the design improvement stage. after the preference to each design was surveyed, reformation of the designs was arranged on the basis of the results. Fourth, in the prototyping stage. the 17 actual prototypes, including 13 pieces for women and 4 pieces for men were produced. Fifth. in the evaluation stage. the evaluation procedure using Grant's alpha-beta model was performed. As a result, the newly designed swimming suits were rated above other existing ones in all three aspects of functionality, aesthetics, and symbolism.

This study proposes the use of firework shapes to design fashion accessories in the judgment that they are appropriate for the expression of creative images in consideration of the display of fireworks as a kind of entertainment and a festive symbol. This study promotes the sustainable application of firework shapes to develop the designs of fashion culture items that feature a distinctive personality and uniqueness. In this present study, the proposed fashion accessory design was intended to create an entertaining new atmosphere that uses an Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) that draws attention as a futuristic display. In terms of methodology, a literature review of firework shapes and OLED was conducted; in addition, Adobe Illustrator CS2 and Adobe Photoshop CS2 were used to develop six different standard motive designs with formative design elements represented by a variety of firework shapes. Each of the six motifs was further expanded with different color combinations. Rich images are produced with the use of pink, blue, purple, green, yellow, orange, and red, in conjunction with various OLED effects to express the three-dimensional images of fireworks. The motifs are applied to three types of items: bags, bracelets, and necklaces. For the video images, evening and tote bags, pendants, and bangles were used. Shifting images and lights should produce unique images as well as satisfy the consumer desire for entertainment. The Adobe Image Ready software was used to present the motive of fireworks applied to the design of fashion accessories in video images but not in still-cut images due to physical constraints of this paper.

This study examines the underwear purchase behaviors of female consumers based on fashion leadership. Data research was conducted on 348 females in their 20s and 30s located in the city of Seoul & the surrounding Gyeonggi provincial area. The SPSS 17.0 software program was used to conduct data analyses such as descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, and Scheffe's test as a post-hoc analysis. The results of this study are as follow. 1. Fashion leadership was identified with four factors; fashion opinion leadership, fashion innovation, confidence of fashion, and potential fashion leadership. Customers were segmented into the following three subdivisions: fashion leaders, fashion followers, and fashion laggards. 2. The factors derived from the factor analysis of underwear purchase motive included pursuit of fashion, economic, and fashion coordination. Fashion leaders highly regarded the pursuit of fashion & fashion coordination, but fashion laggards regarded economics highly. 3. The factors derived from the factor analysis of selection criteria included design attributes, brand attributes, functionality of clothes, and practicality. Fashion leaders regarded the attributes of design and brands highly; fashion followers regarded design attributes highly. 4. The factors derived from the factor analysis of underwear attitude included fashion/shopping orientation, fashion coordination orientation, and wear sensation/modesty orientation. Fashion leaders regarded fashion, shopping, design, and fashion coordination orientation highly relative to fashion followers and fashion laggards. 5. Fashion leadership showed significant differences in purchase motives, selection criteria, and underwear attitude.

MMORPG is being progressed through Quest and the level and the balance are realized. Also, Quest plays a strong role of motivation through compensation related with Avatar such as items and experience points rather than a role of story transfer. This situation finally made MMORPG become a difficult game that players should study the compensation of Quest for growth of a character, so it causes fixation of the user class. As a solving method of the fixation of the users, the possibility of Quest capable of strengthening play motive of various users through clarification of motivation structure of the Quest play and pluralistic understanding about players was investigated. The pluralistic understanding method of players will have values as a tool that can design and evaluate Quest satisfying preference of the various user class.
This study was to identify the dimensions of consumer's purchasing motives and purchasing delay reasons toward casual hanbok. Other objective was to examine relationship between these variables and future purchasing intention. Th 22 purchasing motive questions and 19 purchasing delay reasons were selected through the result of self-questionnaire analysis. 302 purchaser and 297 consumers who delay for particular reasons in Pusan responsed to the second questionnaire of purchasing motives and purchasing delay reasons toward casual Hanbok. The results as follows: 1. For factor analysis 22 purchasing motive questions were subjected to the principle component analysis with orthogonal rotation after extraction of 6 major factors. Six dimensions are consciousness of nation goodness of design conformity with fashion charming apperance relaxation fo body and mind nation goodness of design conformity with fashion charming appearance relaxation of body and mind and pursuit of individuality. These factors explained 62.0% of total variables. 2. Consumer's purchasing motives such as consciousness of nation goodness of design charming appearance and relaxation of body and mind has predicting power to the re-purchasing intention of casual hanbok 3. For factor analysis 19 delay reason question were subjected to the principle component analysis with orthogonal rotation after extraction of 5 major factors. Five dimensions are non-fitness for occasion and body shape unsatisfaction with design unsatisfaction with price need of information search for better product and preference for traditional hangok. These factors explained 60.4% of total variables. 4. Delay reasons of unsatisfaction with design and price were positively related to the future purchasing intention. This delay reason is caused by forces external to the consumer and the consumer has engaged in information search. This result explained this type of consumer has the strong future purchasing intention.
The natural resources of Jeju are recognized as the new regional image of that clean island. Reflecting these trends, this study is initiated to develop a textile design with the motive of persimmon, a natural resource of Jeju, and to apply it to infant's and children's clothes. Its purpose is to highlight the image of persimmon, a traditional dye, as a regional signature for Jeju. Product development procedure included, understanding the use of persimmon for fashion products, analyzing Infants' and Children's designer collections over the last three seasons (focused on 2014S/S, 2015S/S, and 2016S/S), and surveying the Children's Clothes market for persimmon dyeing in Jeju. The conclusion was that, the natural resources of Jeju are highly valuable, and should be applied to textile design and apparel products for children. Utilizing Jeju persimmon was actively studied, but, the market for the Jeju persimmon natural - dyeing products is extremely limited. Moreover, the apparel products for infants and children represent old-fashioned styles, despite their higher prices. Therefore, using the formative characteristics of persimmon for each theme was suggested for development of patterns for textile design. Pattern designs were expressed using textured textile screen-printing, embroidery and $appliqu{\acute{e}}$ for infants' and children's clothes. In this study, a total of 10 items were prepared as apparel products for infants and children. All items were designed considering mix-and-match, potential, with each other or with regular mass-market products. These results are expected to contribute to highlighting the unique image of Jeju and to help promote fashion culture products.
As a condition for raising competitive force in the global fashion era that pursues diversity, originality is essential. This research is a study on fashion design able to seek high added value while considering the creative Korean Characters pattern as its motive. Therefore, this research hopes to examine the substantial methods regarding the creation of high added values centered on products utilizing Korean Characters as their motives in the fashion field. The specific research contents intend on, first, studying the formative specialties of Korean Characters; second, examining garment and fashion properties produced with Korean Character as their motive in domestic and foreign fashion shows; and third, understanding the methodology of applying the formation of Korean Characters pattern to fashion design. Hereby, this research suggests the design development regarding the geometrical formation of Korean Characters and the grafting of fashions as the way to inspire the images of domestic fashion brands in the global fashion market and heighten competitive force.
