  • The culture of each era make their own art, and it is certain a sense of beauty is changed according to a flow of era. We can find an unique beauty in the traditional culture of one era. And it is formed by the local and climatically influences according to their own ethnic character. Furthermore, an unique beauty is became an important element in forming the culture. That is, it is the universality in general. What is important is to develop of one's tradition on the background of the past for the future. This study is focused on the personal ornaments of women's Gache among the Cyubang culture in Chosun era. Throughout the study of clothing design that applies various decorative elements like an ornamental hairpin, a chignon ornament, and ttoljam among the women's Gache, this study is proposed to internationalize of clothing design utilizing the Korean specific character. The concepts of this study are as follows : First, grasp a definition and notion about Gyubang Culture of Chosun Era. Second, consider the definition of ornamental culture and the specific characters and kinds of women's ornaments. Third, analyze the trend and examples in the modern fashion applying women's ornaments. • Cheoungju International Craft Biennale is not just an art exhibition but more like a pubic festival which is including an experiential learning and a public participation section as well as a special exhibition and an international competition section. Thus it is strongly required to present an appropriate meaning and mood corresponding to each exhibition hall. The paper has examined the exhibition topics during the last 10 years and the plannings and contents to install the exhibition hall according the yearly topic and it has analyzed the comprehensive evaluations after the exhibition. The research scope is limited to the part related to the exhibition hall and facilities, which is including calculation of dimensions and layout, access and movement system, the appropriateness of the design and construction period, measure of applied technology appropriateness, post management as well as planning intent, estimation of the number of the visitors, preliminaries. With the results shown in the comprehensive evaluation and analysis, the paper has presented two issues, the one related to the procensure and preparation and the other related to the facilities. It is showed that both problems are due to the lack of expertise and it is necessary for the experts to participate from the first step of the procedure including planning for the successful exhibition. For the appropriate exhibition hall corresponding to the exhibition planning and scale, it is required to have the professional considerations of successful space and visitor's movement management, display environment, construction method, and post management. The study presents that architectural and interior design have to take an active part in constructing exhibition design in overall stage including the initial, practice, and evaluation stage.

  • In the collaborative product design environment, the communication between designers is important to capture design intents and to share a common view among the different but semantically similar terms. The Semantic Web supports integrated and uniform access to information sources and services as well as intelligent applications by the explicit representation of the semantics buried in ontology. Ontologies provide a source of shared and precisely defined terms that can be used to describe web resources and improve their accessibility to automated processes. Therefore, employing ontologies on assembly modeling makes assembly knowledge accurate and machine interpretable. In this paper, we propose a framework of semantic assembly modeling using ontologies to share design information. An assembly modeling ontology plays as a formal, explicit specification of a shared conceptualization of assembly design modeling. In this paper, implicit assembly constraints are explicitly represented using OWL (Web Ontology Language) and SWRL (Semantic Web Rule Language). The assembly ontology also captures design rationale including joint intent and spatial relationships.

  • The identity of Korean housing culture has been the subject of discussion in the past several decades. Recently construction company is using the expression of Korean Identity based on traditional housing as a strategic concept. There, however, has yet been found a concrete solution despite the ambitions intent to modernize Korean tradition. In this circumstances, this research was intended to understand the characteristics of traditional housing preferred by consumers, in order to embody the scheme in which Korean tradition can be modernized. The main conceptual characteristics and concrete examples were included in the characteristics of traditional housing. In result, Environment-Friendliness, Visual Openness, Human-Centeredness have been turned out to be the most preferred attributes amongst the major concept characteristics of traditional housing. In concrete case of Environment-Friendliness, the use of healthy natural materials such as timber or yellow mud was preferred the most. Consumers were also especially fond of open passage through connecting front and back balcony as for Visual Openness, and spaces created based on human body measurements regarding Human-Centeredness. The Savored characteristics of traditional housing varied by gender, age, family type, income, and scale of residence. The result of this research will be useful for housing construction company in planning Korean style apartments and also exploring preferred qualities according to the type of consumer.

  • This study is intended to examine the various kinds of emptiness that are shown in the empty spaces created by Hyo-Sang Seung and Louis I. Kahn. Architecture creates the usefulness of a certain space thanks to its emptiness. The word, 'Emptiness' has the following meanings, 'non-fulfillment', 'non-existence', 'emptiness', 'blankness', 'non-visibility' and 'non-limitation', etc. Such concepts of emptiness can be broadly divided into 'ideological emptiness', 'aesthetic' and 'architectural spatial'. Comparisons regarding such concepts of emptiness as they are expressed in the architectural spaces created by Hyo-sang Seung and Louis I. Kahn shall be identified in this study. Hyo-sang Seung tried to leave numerous open possibilities which can contain everything into a certain space since 'emptiness' is not being used at this moment. Louis I. Kahn tried to contain into a space the essence and silence of that space before something that exists is created. The 'emptiness' created by Hyo-sang Seung and Louis I. Kahn is a specific space which can contain more kinds of non-visible spaces than some visible ones. Thus, such spaces may contain various potentials which are possible because they are empty, because of changes in nature and time, and because of silence and intentions going beyond an artist's original intent.

  • This study describes the development of innovative connections between steel beams and concrete-filled tube columns that utilize a combination of low-carbon steel and super-elastic shape memory alloy components. The intent is to combine the recentering behavior provided by the shape memory alloys to reduce building damage and residual drift after a major earthquake with the excellent energy dissipation of the low-carbon steel. The analysis and design of structures requires that simple yet accurate models for the connection behavior be developed. The development of a simplified 2D spring connection model for cyclic loads from advanced 3D FE monotonic studies is described. The implementation of those models into non-linear frame analyses indicates hat the recentering systems will provide substantial benefits for smaller earthquakes and superior performance to all-welded moment frames for large earthquakes.

  • Circulation of documents and data has two serious problems in this web-based system. The first of the problems is standardization problem which the flowing documents and data are not always standardized. the other is security problem which secret data can be hacked or cracked, and non-authenticated Person can access and change the contents with malicious intent. Therefore two issues come out on the web-based system, the first is how we can standardize the documents and data and the second is how we can assure safe flowing of them. One way of the standardizing methods is Mark-UP language which uses XML which is extended from SGML to redefine and use documents. And to ensure security of flowing documents we adopt digital signature system using public key and private key The focus of this study is to specify procedures for digital signature on the XML base. and to design XML components for the digital signature to assure information security in circulation of documents and data.

  • The effects of a green buffer zone to protect a residential area from air pollution from industrial facilities and traffic was examined by analyzing the case of a green buffer zone in the Shiwha industrial complex. The green buffer zone is 175 m wide. The intent was to assess the dispersion patterns of atmospheric air pollutants and the reduction in concentration around the green buffer zone. To measure atmospheric sulfur dioxide$(SO_2)$ and nitrogen dioxide$(NO_2)$ concentration, badge-type passive samplers were used and set up at 76 locations in order to measure the concentration of air pollutants with respect to the spatial dispersion. The weighted mean values of $SO_2\;and\;NO_2$ concentration were $3\~57 ppb\;and\;18\~62 ppb$ and the differences among the green buffer zone, the industrial area and the residential areas were $0.7\~1.1 ppb$. Mean values of atmospheric concentrations of $NO_2$ were similar in industrial and, residential areas and the green buffer zone. Results of the study show that the effect of the green buffer zone on reducing the dispersion of air pollutants was very low. This study also recommends that micro-climate, i.e., wind direction should be considered as a factor for planning and design of green buffer zones.

  • The inspection for building occupancy authorization has lacked objectivity due to manual measurement methods. This is why connivance of the illegal buildings has been rampant, which has led to so many incidents. Consequently, this law has lost its intent to protect people's lives and property. In this study, for the purpose of improvement of this law, the research was conducted by the utilization of unmanned aerial vehicle for automated inspection for building occupancy authorization. Theoretical considerations about building occupancy authorization and the trend of UAV technology were accomplished. Secondly, a series of reverse engineering was conducted including digital photography, network RTK-VRS surveying and post-processing data. Thirdly, the resultant spatial information was used for building occupancy inspection authorization in a BIM platform and the effectiveness and applicability of UAV-based inspection was analyzed. As a result, methodology for UAV-based automated building occupancy inspection authorization was derived. And it was found that eleven items would be possible to be automated among thirty total items for building occupancy authorization. Also it was found that UAV-based automated inspection could be valid in inspecting building occupancy authorization due to authentic accuracy, effectiveness and applicability with government policy.
