  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate influence of cellular phone videos and games on dry eye syndrome in university students. Methods: A randomized comparison group pre-post design is used. Sixty university students were randomly assigned to either a video or a game group. Frequencies of blinking, dry eye symptoms scores and amounts of tears were measured. Thirty subjects watched cellular phone video programmes and the other 30 subjects played cellular phone games for 61 minutes. In addition, frequencies of blinking were measured three times during treatment, once immediately after a treatment and twice at an interval of 20 minutes after subsequent treatments. Results: Post-test scores of frequencies of blinking significantly decreased, dry eye symptoms scores including amounts of tears significantly increased greater than pre-test scores in both groups. But there were no significant differences between the groups. Frequencies of blinking were significantly different with respect to the time spent using cellular phone. In both groups, the lowest frequencies of blinking were shown after 40 minutes of cellular phone use. Conclusion: This study shows that using cellular phone has negative influence on dry eye syndrome and eyes require a resting period after cellular phone use over 40 minutes.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a nutrition education website for children, especially those around the 4th-6th grade levels. Among the already existing websites providing nutritional information for children, 7 websites with comparable amounts of information were evaluated in terms of their topics, credibility, content, ease of use, and aesthetics. In addition, a survey was conducted to assess the need for nutrition information among 305 elementary students. The food pyramid was the topic offered most often on those websites. Information on nutrients, digestion, food safety, nutrition labeling, and healthy eating habits were available on the websites. Some of those websites also provided games or quizzes to attract the children's interest. However, seine of the websites did not give any information on the person responsible for providing the information, which is most important in determining the credibility of the website. Other problems were that some information was too difficult for children, and some of the websites did not provide a way to search for information. According to the survey results, the topics that children wanted to know about were‘desirable weight’,‘cooking’,‘correct food choice’,‘weight control method’,‘calories consumed during exercise’, but, they did not have a high interest in‘asking questions’‘books with nutrition messages’,‘under weight’,‘negative effect of weight control’and‘helping hungry children’. Based on these results, we developed a new nutrition education web-site, ifood’(http: //1 ifood.or.kr). We focused on helping children develop healthy eating habits by providing information which is easy and practical for children. However, we neither included the program to assess their dietary intake, nor provided entertaining background sounds, which children like. Also, the game section is composed mainly of quizzes. Therefore, we need to further develop exciting games to teach nutrition to children. In the near future, the newly developed website should be evaluated by children regarding understandability and coverage of the contents as well as usability and design, and then revised to improve the educational effect.

  • A study on network traffic analysis and modeling has been exclusively done due to its importance. However, conventional studies on network traffic analysis and modeling only focus on transmitting simple packet stream or traffic features of specific application, such as HTTP. In this paper, we propose a network traffic generator, which reflects the characteristics of multimedia data. To analyze the traffics of online game, which is one of the most popular multimedia contents, we modeled the distribution according to the time between packets and packet size random variable and designed the traffic generator which has the model for input. We generated the traffics of L4D(Left4Dead), WoW(World of Warcraft) with proposed network traffic generator and we found that the generated traffics have similar distributions with real data.

  • Nowadays the soccer becomes one of the best spot lighting sports in the world Especially the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup was deeply impressed on all the korean. One goal of illuminating engineering should be the design of lighting system that can provide consistently high task visibility regardless of where a task might be located within a working space. The television broadcasting on the soccer has been an important role in the media. The standard of FIFA(The Federation Internationale do Football Association) requires recommended illuminance levels for artificial lighting for a player, an audience, TV broadcasting, as well as everybody in the stadium. This paper has proposed an algerian to select the suboptimal lighting tower position for watching and TV broadcasting a soccer game within a pleasant environment and an optimum illuminance distribution. The position using the software Philip's Calculux was chosen based an the calculations of a horizontal illuminance, vertical illuminance, uniformity, glare, and so on by changing lighting tower positions.

  • In the mobile gaming market, it is desirable for a specific content to be served on various platforms. Recently, it is a very important issue in the market for mobile games. This problem incurs extra cost, because we need to redevelop existing contents to be executed on another platforms. Moreover, the release of a new platform has spent much more effort and cost developing many contents in short period of time. Therefore, we need to research about translation techniques that enable the existing contents to run on a different platform. In this paper, we propose translation techniques for mobile games. The techniques can be applied on converting mobile contents to runnable contents on a new platform. To realize it, we design and implement a source-level contents translator which is targeting Android platform using the suggested techniques. Our source-level contents translator is implemented systematically by applying compiler theory. Also, we solve partially translation problems between different programming languages. The translator has been implemented separately divided into three tasks such as kernel porting, library mapping as well as language translation. We expect these techniques to increase utilization of existing mobile games and contribute to vitalizations of mobile contents industry.

  • Tornadoes are vertical swirling air formed because of the existence of layers of air with contrasting features of temperature, wind flow, moisture, and density. Tornadoes induce completely different wind forces than a straight-line (SL) wind. A suitably designed building for an SL wind may fail when exposed to a tornado-wind of the same wind speed. It is necessary to design buildings that are more resistant to tornadoes. In tornado-damaged areas, dome buildings seem to have less damage. As a dome structure is naturally wind resistant, domes have been used in back yards, as single family homes, as in-law quarters, man caves, game rooms, storm shelters, etc. However, little attention has been paid to the tornadic wind interactions with dome buildings. In this work, the tornado forces on a dome are computed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for tornadic and SL wind. Then, the interaction of a tornado with a dome and a prism building are compared and analyzed. This work describes the results of the tornado wind effect on dome and prism buildings. The conclusions drawn from this study are illustrated in visualizations. The tornado force coefficients on a dome building are larger than SL wind forces, about 120% more in x- and y-directions and 280% more in z-direction. The tornado maximum pressure coefficients are also higher than SL wind by 150%. The tornado force coefficients on the prism are larger than the forces on the dome, about 100% more in x- and y-directions, and about 180% more in z-direction. The tornado maximum pressure coefficients on prism also are greater those on dome by 150% more. Hence, a dome building has less tornadic load than a prism because of its aerodynamic shape.

  • There are many syntactic similarities between Japanese and Korean language. These similarities enable us to build Japanese-Korean translation systems without depending cm sophisticated syntactic analysis and semantic analysis. To further improve translation accuracy, we have been developing a Japanese-Korean translation system using these similarities for several years. However, there still remain some problems with regard to translation of inflected words, processing of multi-translatable words and so on. In this paper, we propose a new method for Japanese-Koran machine translation by using the relationships of two neighboring words. To solve the problems, we investigate the connection rules of auxiliary verb priority. And we design the translation table, which consists of entry tables and connection form tables. for unambiguous words, we can translate a Japanese word to the corresponding Korean word in terms of direct-matching method by consulting the only entry table. Otherwise we have to evaluate the connection value computed from connection form tables and then we can select the most appropriate target word.

  • CAD system is a very important technology in designing many products which we are using today. This CAD technology have enlarging its area into 3D CAD systems with the development of computer graphics technologies. In particular, such advances have also been realized in special area such as the CAD system for designing shoes. 3D CAD systems for shoes design must provide compatibility between 3D and 2D data because shoes are made using 2D parts of pieces of leather or cloth. Many designers get high performances using 2D shoe CAD systems because they have had long practices with the 2D systems. Therefore, to get the mapping between 2D modeling and 3D modeling is one of very important components in 3D CAD system. In this paper, we proposed a flattening method that convert 3D shoes data to 2D data.
