  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of tie strength in the network of industrial clustering on the knowledge acquisition, integration and innovation performance of small and medium sized enterprises. We test the positive relationship of weak tie and knowledge acquisition, strong tie and knowledge integration, and the interaction effect of two tie strengths on both processes of knowledge acquisition and integration. By identifying these relationships, we can better understand how to manage the attributes of social networks in terms of tie strength in order to improve the performance of innovation for the small and medium sized enterprises. Design/methodology/approach We collect 200 survey data from 2 industrial cluster respectively: Pankyo and Guroo. In Pankyo, the proportion of IT industry is the highest (35%) while the proportion of manufacturing is highest (35%) in Guroo. Pooling the data from two industrial cluster, we check the reliability and validity of our research model and test the hypotheses. Findings First, we find the positive relationship of weak tie and knowledge acquisition from both industrial clustering. Weak tie is composed of heterogeneous organizations with various background and expertise. The communication and information sharing of organizations in the weak tie network helps the idea generation for organization's innovation, which is the knowledge acquisition process. Second, the relationship of strong tie and knowledge integration is insignificant. Typically the strong tie from long-lasting partnership is expected to be beneficial in the action stage of innovation, which is the knowledge integration process. However it is not identified in our industry cluster. Finally, the interaction effect of weak and strong tie is identified to be effective on both knowledge acquisition and integration processes.

  • Nowadays, many companies are striving to turn customer value into business value. Customer Relationship Management is a management system that develops effective and efficient marketing strategies by classifying customers in detail based on their information, i.e. databases, and consists of various information technologies. To implement this management system, a customer integration database must be established, and customer characteristics (buying behavior, preferences, etc.) must be analyzed with the databases established and the behavior of each customer must be predicted. This study aims to systematically manage a large amount of customer data generated by companies that apply Customer Relationship Management, in order to develop data design and data governance strategies that should be considered to increase customer value and even company value. We mainly looked at the characteristics of customer relationship management and data governance, and then explored the link between the field of customer relationship management and data governance. In addition, we have developed a data strategy that companies need to perform data governance for customer relationship management.

  • This study examines the correlations of crime-prone locations with the urban space configuration in residential district. CPTED(Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) is applied to this study and it is intended to control the architectural environment in order to restrain criminal activities. For this reason, an objective analysis for explaining the spatial characteristics of the places where the crimes have occurred is more important than statistical and descriptive approach for analyzing the criminal data. Visibility graph analysis (VGA) supports the CPTED theory in this study for objective interpretation of crime-prone locations and quantitative analysis for built environment. The comparative analysis on object streets and areas are used and the results are followings. The analysis by streets showed that street crimes are correlated with connectivity, control, integration, and integration(r=3) and burglary cases are correlated with control. The analysis by areas showed that street crimes are correlated with connectivity and integration. The T-tests results of crime area and whole area showed that street crimes are correlated with integration and burglary cases have negative correlation with connectivity. Several localized environmental design for crime prevention are also proposed on the basis of this study.

본 논문은 데이터베이스간 통합 시 필요한 정보를 기반으로 데이터베이스간 통합을 하는 I2system(Information Integration System)을 제안한다. 이는 기존의 정보통합방법의 오버헤드를 줄이며, 단순하고 확장성 있는 데이터베이스간 통합을 제공한다.

  • A design framework to employ the multidisciplinary design optimization technologies on a computer system has been developed and is named as the Extensible Multidisciplinary Design Integration and Optimization System (EMDIOS). The framework can not only effectively solve complex system design problems but also conveniently handle MDO problems. Since the EMDIOS exploits both state-of-the-art of computing capabilities and sophisticated optimization techniques, it can overcome many scalability and complexity problems. It can make users who are not even familiar with the optimization technology use EMDIOS easily to solve their design problems. The client of EMDIOS provides a front end for engineers to communicate the EMDIOS engine and the server controls and manages various resources luck as scheduler, analysis codes, and user interfaces. EMDIOS client supports data monitoring, design problem definition, request for analyses and other user tasks. Three main components of the EMDIOS are the Engineering Design Object Model which is a basic idea to construct EMDIOS, EMDIOS Language (EMDIO-L) which is a script language representing design problems, and visual modeling tools which can help engineers define design problems using graphical user interface. Several example problems are solved and EMDIOS has shown various capabilities such as ease of use, process integration, and optimization monitoring.
