  • In this study, performance of the post-installed anchor system was evaluated with reduced strength of concrete and anchor. One of the post-installed anchors was selected to performance evaluation. Concrete strength was reduced by freeze-thawing test, and the post-installed anchor strength was reduced by corrosion test. The post-installed Anchor was installed in concrete of freezing and thawing and original concrete, and corroded anchor was installed in original concrete only. Anchor diameter and installation depth of the anchor were the variable for each specimen. Performance of post-installed anchor system of each specimen was evaluated by pullout test. Anchor diameter and installation depth of anchor, it may affect the performance of the post-installed anchor system from the experimental test results. Fracture mode of each post-installed anchor system had occurred differently depending on the durability of concrete and anchor. The anchor pullout strength from the experimental test results was used in order to compare with the results of CCD (Concrete Capacity Design) method, and CCD equation was modified. Modified equation was able to predict the anchor pullout strength of post-installed anchor system in Original concrete and freezing and thawing of concrete.

  • In structural applications, brittle materials such as soda-lime glasses and ceramics are often subjected to multiaxial stress. Brittle materials with crack or damaged by foreign object impacts are abruptly fractured from cracks, because of their properities of very high strength and low fracture toughness. But in most cases, the residual strength has been derived from tests under uniaxial stress such as a 4-point bend test. The strengths under multiaxial stresses might be different from the strength. In comparable tests, the residual strength under biaxial stress state by the ball-on-ring test was greater than that under the uniaxial one by the 4-point bend test. In the case that crack having 90deg. to loading direction, the ratio of biaxial to uniaxial flexure strength was 1.12. At a different crack angle to loading direction when it was evaluated by the 4-point bend test, the residual strength was different and the ratio of 45deg. to 90deg. was 1.16.

  • Soundness evaluation of a structure being constructed under the sea is usually difficult. In this study, a cross-hole sonic logging(CSL) which have been used for non-destructive test of concrete piles is adopted for the integrity test and monitoring of DCM(deep cement mixing) treated soils. Chemical and physical characteristics of raw ground materials are analysed to delineate ground environmental effects on the strength of DCM treated soils. In order to convert cross-hole sonic logging data into compressive strength, correlations between compressive strengths and wave velocities of core samples have been obtained. It is found that there is little effect of ground environment on the strength of the DCM treated soils, and the density distribution of core samples and cross-hole logging data show that a defective zone may exist in the DCM treated soils. With the time lapse, however, the defective zone has been cured and consequently, compressive strength of the DCM treated soils increases and satisfies the design parameter. From this study it can be concluded that the cross-hole sonic logging can be used for the integrity test as well as monitoring the curing stage of the structures, successfully.

  • Resilient modulus has been used for characterizing the stress-strain behavior of subgrade soils subjected to traffic loadings. With the recent release of the M-E Design Guide, highway agencies are further encouraged to implement the resilient modulus test to improve subgrade design. The subgrade design for the trackbed, however, is primarily relying on the static test results such as $K_{30}$ and deformation modulus, Ev. Therefore applicability of the resilient modulus for the design of trackbed needs to be evaluated. In this study, physical property tests, unconfined compressive tests and resilient modulus tests were conducted to assess the resilient and permanent strain behavior of 14 cohesive subgrade soils. A predictive model for estimating the resilient modulus is proposed based on the results of unconfined compressive tests and tangent elastic modulus, unconfined compressive strength, failure strain, secant modulus at peak, and yield strain. The predicted resilient moduli using the predictive models compared satisfactorily with measured ones. Although the permanent strain occurs during the resilient modulus test, the permanent behavior of subgrade soils is currently not taken into consideration.

  • In recent, lots of researches for mechanical-empirical design concept for asphalt pavement are on going. AASHTO 2002 Design Guide in USA and KPRP(Korean Pavement Research Program) in Korea are under developing. In these programs, the mechanical properties of hot mix asphalt are a key role for design and analysis. Unfortunately, there is no proper database on the mechanical properties of hot mix asphalt, such as dynamic modulus. The use of dynamic modulus has couple of good advantages which is based on temperature, traffic loading and frequency on pavement. In this research, the verification of the relationship between maximum nominal aggregate size and dynamic modulus has been carried out. Also, test specimen size effect on dynamic modulus has been conducted. Considering the limitation of laboratory testing machine in Korea, test specimen with 100mm diameter and 150mm height is recommended for dynamic modulus test. Also, as the maximum nominal aggregate size increases, the dynamic modulus of hot mix asphalt increases.

  • This paper is the second paper among two papers which constitute the paper about the structural design of a dental implant. This paper completed the test drafting for the structural model of the new dental implant whose structural performance was confirmed and verified through the comparative structural analysis carried out in the first paper. This paper finished the structural design of a dental implant by manufacturing the dental implant using CNC machines and so forth on the basis of the completed draft and finally by evaluating the machining condition of the dental implant. The drafting work was performed using MDT(Mechanical Desk Top). The manufacturing work was carried out using CNC machines, general purpose milling machine, and Wire EDM. The manufactured surface condition of the dental implant was evaluated and confirmed finally using an electron microscope. As a result of evaluation, a testing dental implant with very good condition was designed and manufactured.

  • This study aims to rectify the disfigurement of bowlegged, (which means they have a gap between knees due to knee joint problems) females in their twenties through the development of pants patterns. The contents of the study are as follows: First, two types of basic pattern-making methods were selected. Two mock-ups, which were made by using these pre-selected basic patterns, were worn by three bowlegged participants and evaluated with a fit test. A basic pattern, which had good body fit was selected, which had a bubble or a wedge at in crotch area and roomy or snug upper thigh. Second, the mock-up, which was made by using the selected basic pattern, led to the outward movement of crease lines. Two types of patterns that were adjusted were evaluated through a fit test. As a result, an effective adjustment for moving the crease line to the outside or to the center was to cut along the slash line of a horizontal balance line to, but not through the crotch seam to spread the pattern at the hip. Third, three patterns were readjusted using the chosen alteration pattern, and the crotch seam and spread patterns of 1 cm, 2 cm, and 3 cm at the hip were applied. As a result of the evaluation of the fit test, three participants-the majority-showed a better fit when the spread amount in the pattern was 2 cm, although every participant did have a different gap between the knees. This study has significance in which rectifies the disfigurement of bowlegged individuals through the development of patterns for females in their twenties who are bowlegged.

  • 3D printing has been considered a key technology, leading the fourth industrial revolution. However, 3D printed textile still has a lot of limitations to overcome before it can be adopted as a clothing material in terms of design, flexibility and dyeability. This study aims to provide modeling design for imparting the flexibility and post-dyeing process for 3D printed textiles. The modeling types were designed to test the flexibility of 3D printed textiles. The post-dyeing process was evaluated through dye absorption depending on the resin and modeling types, respectively. The results were as follows: two types of modeling (Modeling A and B) were designed with a ring structure to test the flexibility of the 3D printed textiles. The 3D printed textiles with ring-based structure Modeling A had flexibility regardless of the hardness of resin types. In the dyeability test, softening resin (S-Resin) and hardening resin (H-Resin) were found to have good dyeability with acid dye and direct dye, respectively. The condition of S-Resin with acid dye and H-Resin with direct dye was controlled by dye absorption rate.

  • At pre-construction design stage, most of the design data are based on the site investigation results or property estimation which often does not provide satisfactory output for the tunnel analysis. Nonlinear FEM tunnel analysis was cariied out by Hoek-Brown model which is principly semi-empirical design method based on insitu rock descriptions, rock test results as well as field measurement data. The results of the analytical methods from Hoek-Brown model and Mohr-Coulomb model are compared with the sige measurement data from two-NATM tunnel construction sites. It was found that the Hoek-Brown model can be satisfactorily adopted as a feed back analysis technique in order to examin the safety of NATM tunnel at any construction stage.

  • Engineering properties of most polymers used in geosynthetics such as geogrid can be degraded by the chemical reaction (e.g., oxidization, ultraviolet rays, hydrolysis etc.), chemical and mechanical load, microorganism, and so on. In addition, polymer can be damaged by the compaction during construction, and the characteristic of tensile strength of polymer can be changed by the long-term creep effect. In this study, engineering properties of flexible geogrids which are manufactured by weaving/knitting the high-tenacity polymers such as polyester formed in a very open, grid-like configuration, coated with any one of a number of materials (e.g., PVC, latex, etc.), are investigated. Through the analysis of test results, the durability and the long-term design tensile strength of flexible geogrids are evaluated.
