  • Our natural desire to exuviate old theory and search for new ideas means conversion and reformation. Howev-er, the new idea of the present moment will soon become an ancient history when the next generation emerges with more advanced ideas. Naturally, we have learned to accept the past history and utilized it as a the foundation for the future. Through the repeated process of the learning method, the popula-tion cultivate themselves with proper understanding and appropriate attitude toward design. By analyzing social behaviors of the past and living conditions, we can ex-pand our imaginations beyond limits. Each society and its local condition have tremendous effects on the develop-ment and progress of artistic theories, techniques and craftsmanship, and potential design of every day use products. Today, interior design can not afford to ignore the or-ganic relationship of life style and space. Thus, the plan-ning of space means the planning of life style. Life style, as it is, has a vast definition and changes with time. That is why spaces, which consider the life style and its environment when designed, show different aspects ac-cording to its corresponding time. Interior design, in particular, differs by time and re-gion to create its unique style. The change in space is the natural result of the change in life style which again is sensitive to the change in cultural and environmental elements. Design is no longer designing of mere physical elements and environment. Design should be taken as the equivalent of creating spiritual culture.

  • This paper describes a bus interface unit which is used in a 32bit high-performance multimedia RISC CPU including DSP unit. The main idea adopted in designing is that the bus interface unit enables the processor to provide on-chip functions for controlling memory and peripheral devices, including RAS-cAS multiplexing, DRAM refresh and parity generation and checking. The number of bus cycles used for a memory or I/O access is also defined by the processor, thus, no external bus controllers are required. All memories and peripheral devices can be connected directly, pin to pin, without any glue logic. That is the key point of the design.

조립 방향 자동 판별 및 조립 순서 자동 수정 시스템 개발 (Development of Automatic Selection of Assembly Direction and Assembly Sequence Correction System)

  • Assembly direction is used in order to confirm the generated assembly sequences in an automatic assembly sequence planning system. Moreover, assembly sequence planners can ascertain the feasibility of a sequence during simulation with assembly direction based in a CAD environment. In other words, assembly direction is essential for sequence optimizing and automatic generation. Based on the importance of assembly direction, this paper proposes a method to select the best direction for the generated assembly sequence using disassembly simulation and geometrical common area between assembled parts. Simultaneously, this idea can be applied to verify the generated assembly sequence. In this paper, the automatic selection of assembly direction and sequence correction system is designed and implemented. The developed algorithms and the implemented system are verified based on case study in the CAD environment.

  • 문제중심학습은 실세계 환경과 공학적 환경에서 탐구하고 문제 해결하는 실천적 학습에 중점을 두며, 크게 교육과정 조직자와 수업전략의 두 가지 전략을 포함한다. 이 연구에서 구안한 PBL 전략은 크게 교육과정 조직자로서의 문제설계 단계와 수업전략으로서의 문제 적용 단계로 구분된다. 특히 문제 적용 단계는 문제해결 학습에 기초하며, 그 절차는 즉 '문제의 확인', '문제의 구체화', '해결방안의 탐색과 창안', '해결방안의 선정', '해결방안의 구체화', '실행', '평가', '적용과 성찰'의 단계이다. 특히 이 연구에서 계획과정의 상세화는 문제해결 모형이 갖는 장점 중의 하나인 문제해결을 위한 구상, 즉 확산적 사고와 수렴적 사고활동을 유도하기 위한 전략의 방편이 된다.

  • This research scrutinizes the concept of 'Juchegeonchuk' (self-reliance ideology in architecture), which is a key concept to understand the architecture and urbanism of North Korea in the 1970's and 80's. In the 1970's and 80's, Kim Jong-il began to appear in politics in earnest after Kim Il-sung appointed Kim Jong-il as Kim Il-sung's successor to the next generation. There have been many previous studies about 'Juchesasang' (self-reliance ideology) in various fields, except in architecture. On the other hand, the in-depth research into Juchegeonchuk, which was a method to strengthen Juchesasang, was not good enough in architecture. In this sense, this research investigates the concept of Juchegeonchuk based on the Geonchugyesullon (The Art of Architecture), which embodied the thought of architecture and culture of Kim Jong-il published in 1992. This research scrutinizes the idea of Juchegeonchuk on The Art of Architecture, and its representation in architecture and urbanism in Pyeongyang based on the idea of Juchegeonchuk. It enables to find a new interpretation of North Korea's architecture introduced by Kim, Jong-il in the late 20th century.

미디어아트를 이용한 패션 액세서리 디자인 (Fashion Accessory Design Using Media Art)

  • The expansion of media art has not only developed the digital technology but also given lots of environmental evolution to improve various fields of design as the main topic of the 21st century. The purpose of this study is aimed at proposing the new design that integrates fashion accessaries with media art technology. This will be done by understanding the social environment in digital ages and studying technology of design based on a variety of literature about changes in our society, neo value, vision, culture and art with fundamental notion of media art. First stage for this study, put an idea into just fashion accessary design because it is not sufficient to incoporate fashion and media art technology. The presented OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diodes) in this study is a kind of display to be in a limelight in the next generation and can be applied to various field of design. media art simultaneously moved into the scope of artistic debates. As a result, we can found that the use of audiovisual introduced numerous new aspects to the conceptual and aesthetic engagement with questions of conception. Today, the presented forms of art and inter-action from the closed -circuit work to interactive media art installations to open process-exist as parallel possibilities.

Unveiling the Unconscious Mindset about the Ideal Body -Suggestions for Fashion Education

  • This study aimed to reveal prospective fashion designers' predominant perceptions regarding the ideal body size and shape and to suggest an educational guideline for the design process. Sketch tasks and surveys involving the college students in a fashion design department were conducted over the course of a year. A total of 113 participants designed a white cotton shirt for women in their 30s and 40s. Immediately after the sketching task, the participants answered survey questions on the specific body sizes and shapes they had been picturing. According to the results, the participants designed shirts for a medium-sized, hourglass body shape. As the percentage of women in their 30s and 40s with an hourglass shape is low, a discrepancy exists between the ideal design and the body of the actual consumer. Furthermore, 55% of the participants indicated that they would change the design for a woman with a different body shape. The majority of the participants agreed that understanding the body shape and size is important when initiating ideas. These findings can help educators understand the importance of improving designers' awareness of various body sizes and shapes; they also suggest new directions for fashion design education.

경험디자인을 적용한 모바일 상품 컨셉 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the development of mobile system for younger generation based on the experience-based product development process)

  • 상품개발에 있어서 사용자 경험(User Experience)이란 특정한 상황에서 사용자가 기능적 / 감성적인 충족의 집합을 의미하는 것으로, 최근 들어 정보 가전, 컨텐트 사업자, 통신망 사업자 등에게 사용자 경험을 기반으로 하는 경험 기반 디자인이 주목받고 있다. 그러나 막상 경험 디자인 프로세스를 도입하기 위해서는 1) 학계에서 제안된 경험 기반 상품 개발 프로세스는 개발 프로세스가 너무 길고 복잡하여 전폭적인 도입에 엄두가 나지 않는 다는 점, 2) 기존의 상품 개발 프로세스와의 접목이 부자연스럽다는 점, 그리고 3) 전반적으로 경쟁상황에서 빠르고 효율적인 상품 개발 프로세스를 원한다는 점등의 문제가 선결되어야 한다고 지적하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 경험 디자인 행위를 지원해 주는 도구 개발에 초점을 맞추어 사용자 욕구 모델링, 디자인 전략 모델링, 경험 상품 모델링 등의 모델링 기법을 제안하고, 이를 상품 개발에 활용하는 방안을 제시 하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 개발된 모델링 기법을 초등학생을 위한 모바일 게임 컨텐트 개발 프로젝트에 적용하여 그 가능성을 살펴보았으며, 또한 모델링 기법의 제한점 및 개선점도 발견할 수 있었다. 전반적으로 본 모델링 기법은 1) 사용자 조사의 유연성을 확보하는데 기여를 하였고, 2)사용자 조사와 상품 개발의 연결고리를 매핑과 평가를 통하여 마련하는 것이 가능하였고, 3) 동시에 다양한 팀원의 참여를 가능케 한다는 점등이 확인되었다.

  • 졸업 연구작품 제작에 참여한 학생들과 참여하지 않은 학생들에게서 인식되는 창의적 능력, 창의적 성격, 창의적 리더십 및 융합적 사고와 관련된 역량을 파악하였다. 창의적 능력에서는 참여 학과 학생들에게서 다양한 전공 분야의 이해를 통한 아이디어 창출에 대한 부분의 교육에 더 많은 교육과정과 비교과 활동의 운영이 필요하나 전체적으로는 비참여 학생보다는 높은 긍정적 결과를 얻었다. 창의적 리더십 및 융합적 사고에서는 종합설계와 졸업작품을 진행한 학생이 더 긍정적인 면을 보여주었으며 미참여 학과 학생들은 고등사고, 복잡한 현상의 논리적 분석 및 전체적 파악 등에서 창의적 역량이 부족함을 나타내었다.

Motion characteristics along the shape of the activating body of a floating wave energy convertor

  • Wave energy generation systems can be divided into oscillating water chamber type, over topping device type and wave activating body type. The wave activating body type converts wave energy to kinetic energy, and the power generation amount increases as the motion of an activating body increases. In this paper, the wave energy convertor consists of a main body, which has an H-shape, and the activating body. These are connected by a bar-type bridge. By the incident wave, when the activating body moves with vertical motion this motion is consequently converted into rotational motion. The twisting moment and angular velocity at a shaft of convertor are calculated according to various conditions of the incident wave and the shape of the activating body. This can be used as a basic idea for determining the design of wave activating body type convertor.
