Exhibition can be a type of mass-communication since it should contains some 'meaning' or 'message' that is to be delivered. The purpose of visiting museum is to view exhibits. Thus, factors, such as exhibits, exhibition media, show-case, direction signs, and gates, form visual perception, which means there exists homogeneity between visual perception and action. Visitors acquire knowledge by the space interaction when one can acknowledge the consecutive time flow while moving along the exhibition space. Visitors' movements can be formed by visual and perceptive experience that follows environmental stimulus and individual desire. Therefore, museum visitors experience certain shift flow with visual perception caused by the continuity of space. Thus, the research on development of focus in continuity is required. In addition, if the quality of exhibition space and organized continuity with visual diversity can be improved in exhibition design, it would expand the function of communication in exhibitions.
The purpose of this study is to research the viewpoint of space practice method through the discussion about social space. The study researched how social practice strategy is unfolded through the understanding about daily life, space manufacture and interaction. As a social practice, space design should adopt the interaction approach method on the basis of social relationship latent in the base of space. As a result of study, the viewpoint of space practice can be summarized into 3 viewpoints as below. First, it is the viewpoint of recognition through the experience meeting daily life. Rural space is the one of experience where daily life and social relationship interact each other. As a delicate sensible experience, it is the recognition of special space detected in the space where daily life occurs. Second, it is the viewpoint of form creation as a media product of society and space. Space is a whole creature of the relationship that has been formed socially as a historical process. Depending on the goal of community, new form is created by sharing the characteristic of space and having sense of kinship. Third, it is the viewpoint of tuning as a practice for subject participation. Rural space is the daily space to practice structured society subjectively through interaction. In the place of subjective life, there should a space practice with the tuning and cooperation method between subject and society. The main vein of space practice, which is analyzed with the discussion about social space, shows that out lives are maintained by space practice and directly connected to social relationship and structure. After all, the space, which is searched for through space design, has a clear subjectivity, ensures abundant subject life and is led to realization of community value.
The negative memories which come from tragic events such as war, terror or various conflicts in modern cities have been threatening the mental health of city-dwellers. This thesis focuses on 'healing public space' that will help recover the life of city-dwellers who sustain various trauma. For this, the author investigated the significant memorial space through 1980-2010 from site visits, interviews, and related theses and books and then extracted necessary information from each period. This thesis aims to find the changes of the memorial concepts and visitor's reaction for last 30years. 1)1980-: Healing concept and visitor's positive response 2)1990-: Healing by emotional experience approaches to the memorial museum such as narrative approach, exhibition media using 5senses, interactive display and preserving trace, 3)early 2000-: Healing by architectural experience 4)2002-: present: Healing projects by various programs. Steady advances in memorial design for healing trauma are due to the efforts for emotional design approach to eeply move the visitors and the efforts have to be continued. The study emphasize the importance of attracting eople by experimental, emotional design contents not just by aesthetic and functional public design ideas.
Recent advanced interlace technologies allow the user to interact with different spaces such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Ubiquitous Computing (UC) spaces. Here, we present a LEGO House application, a collaborative application which involves multi interaction spaces -VR, AR and UC spaces. The LEGO House application is built based on the VARU framework which is designed for enabling the prototyping of a tangible space application. The application is about an interior design. One user is located in the combined AR and UC space and interacts with the AR LEGO house and the physical smart devices. The other users interact with the virtual LEGO house but they share the same environment, the LEGO house. Therefore, they can collaborate together as they are co-located.

The various kinds of consumption belong to a general category and at the same time the expression of most basic aspiration in the human life. Since the ancient times, the consuming activities have lasted with the other basic activities and the consuming space conducting consumption has developed as physical devices along with the human history. Those companies that have been given attention and getting favorable impression currently being selected by the consumers are now concentrated on the storytelling marketing. The storytelling marketing is that the emotion-oriented marketing activities give consumers the opportunities to enjoy the product contained stories to put the stories to marketing activities. It approaches to consumer with human story emotionally rather than rationally and heart rather than mind. Recently, the architecture has become artistic either it was linked and contacted media or part of marketing. We think that the story telling marketing is the eternal triangle among art, architecture and marketing that is a propensity or movement to interior at this time. I found out that the storytelling marketing methodology is able to touch the consumer's heart and stimulate consumption aspiration that makes new circumstances and experience expressing space. And for that, effective marketing methodology is to give the consumers a more exciting and enjoyable motivation in accord with the modern society to give companies positive image to customers and accordingly for the companies to gain profits. The story telling space that is filled with ideas which produce new circumstance and experience using the established narrative and theme will be required continuously and able to develop in the future.
Due to development of digital technology, a concept of stage design management is being changed. In addition, stage management technique is changing a viewpoint of the audience watching a stage through the convergence of analogue and digital technology. Three-dimensional media such as LED and hologram and works combining with previous stage performances are rising, and the audience's requirements about spectacles on the stage are increasingly higher. Interaction between a stage, audiences and actors is a communication tool by a work story and its direction. In other words, stage design should newly focus on not only concluded work story but also comprehensive delivery of direction and the expression and extreme delivery. Therefore, this study aims to examine how to combine analogue and digital direction elements in the stage design. To this end, this study looks into everything the audience feels through performances and analogue and digital elements directed for performances and then analyzes and arranges them to present a possibility of various types of work performances. Stage structure, set, and lighting that are analogue direction elements are the basis of stage performance. Analogue direction elements mean a media vehicle that can differentiate except for basic direction of each work. This study aims to analyze new performance culture when analog and digital direction elements are combined through stage performance and a possibility of new stage performance. In addition, through this it desired to seek for a development possibility of Korean leisure culture and art culture. As the work cases, this study shows 10 works through actual stage performances held in Korea and introduces elements directed in those works.
Coworking space is the ideal concept of small companies, freelancers, startups, and entrepreneurs operating out of a shared office space while working independently of one another. The coworkers share the core values of coworking: collaboration, openness, accessibility, sustainability, and community. Little academic research has been completed on the composition of coworking spaces and the businesses that use them. The purpose of this study is to examine the organization and characteristic of coworking space based on domestic and international cases for providing basic data on the coworking space plan. This study examined existing academic literature, media, online sources to assess the environmental background of worldwide coworking space, the current status, conceptualization, and membership plan that can be appled coworking spaces. The case study for coworking space is limited to the space where there is web site that is showed floor plan. Coworking spaces are designed to be environmentally friendly, offering common area with many facilities to encouraging community and collaboration. For creating ideal coworking space, the concept of coworking space must be recognized as a community space for interaction and creativity between people and space. Based on the result of this study, the appropriate zoning, circulation and specific floor plan of coworking space is needed for the next research.
This study applies the 'interface' as the concept to interpret the facade design of parking garages. This study investigates the characteristics of interface design in the parking garages to improve design qualities of parking garages as a daily living space as well as a public space in today's city. The facade of parking garage is an interface between the urban streets and the parking space. Three concepts of interface and design in parking garage are defined. The concept of interface is explained as a boundary surface which activates communication and interaction. In facade design of parking garage, three main concepts of interface design are screen, communication and mobility. Through the investigation of the examples, this study summarizes the characteristics of the facade design of parking garage as follow; first, the facade of parking garage is designed as a screen which represents immateriality by specially selected and arranged surface materials. The screen facade is designed as one homogeneous surface as well as an irregular pattern with operable louvers. Second, the facade of parking garage is designed as a communication media to deliver direct information. The representation of natural or artificial characteristics at the local areas is to communicate with the people in the community. Third, the facade of parking garage is represented mobility which a car symbolizes. It emphasizes various movements and visual changes by movements. People can experience the visual changes of the building facade as they walk or drive. The visual changes of the facade are caused by natural elements such as wind and light as well as an optical illusion.
It shows 21st century as a networking society that is moving up the concept of global town and being industrialized with regional and personal connections. The importance of communication which is oriented to interaction, fusion and connection is more increased in the post-information society. The information environment is already realized as interface to reach immediately and freely to the databased information and knowledge. The contemporary libraries execute very important roles as an intellectual infra of modern times to deliver the great human achievement and create new culture. In the mean time, the rapid information-oriented society and the development of digital technology bring out big change in the traditional dispatch and receipt method of information. For this reason, libraries as the community space of visitors integrates physical space - electronic space and reconstructs new temporary culture and value to build the new interface that connects human to human, human to space and human to information. On the premise of these awareness, this study analysis the creative interface factor of Tama Art University New Libraries in Ito Toyo in order to research the function and the application method of modern libraries. And the results are follows. 1)We can make sure the significance of communication and the integration consciousness between digital technology and analogue sensitivity that is the characteristic of the post-information society. 2)We can classify for the creative interface factors by the character as space factor(Arcade, Gallery, Lounge, AV Booth, Cafe), facility/equipment factor(Laboratory, Media, Bar, Info Shelf, Media Seat) and furniture factor(Carrel, Desk, Mag Table, XI Shelf). 3)We can see that these interface factors change the stream of library users and that the library is constructed for library users to create and discovery something easily from books and modern technologies. And we can realize also that these factors are creative installation to lead out naturally the latent liberty sense of users.
