Design of Stereo Image Match Processor for Real Time Stereo Matching (실시간 스테레오 정합을 위한 스테레오 영상 정합 프로세서 설계)

  • Stereo vision is a technique extracting depth information from stereo images, which are two images that view an object or a scene from different locations. The most important procedure in stereo vision, which is called stereo matching, is to find the same points in stereo images. It is difficult to match stereo images in real time because stereo matching requires heavy calculation. In this Paper we design a digital VLSI to Process stereo matching in real time, which we call stereo image match processor (SIMP). For implementation of real time stereo matching, sliding memory and minimum selection tree are presented. SIMP is designed with pipeline architecture and parallel processing. SIMP takes 64 gray level 64$\times$64 stereo images and yields 8 level 64 $\times$64 disparity map by 3 bit disparity and 12 bit address outputs. SIMP can process stereo images with process speed of 240 frames/sec.

  • Human motion tracking algorithm is receiving attention from many research areas, such as human computer interaction, video conference, surveillance analysis, and game or entertainment applications. Over the last decade, various tracking technologies for each application have been demonstrated and refined among them such of real time computer vision and image processing, advanced man-machine interface, and so on. In this paper, we introduce cost-effective and real-time human motion tracking algorithms based on depth image 3D point matching with a given superellipsoid body representation. The body representative model is made by using parametric volume modeling method based on superellipsoid and consists of 18 articulated joints. For more accurate estimation, we exploit initial inverse kinematic solution with classified body parts' information, and then, the initial pose is modified to more accurate pose by using 3D point matching algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a gaze correction method for realistic video teleconferencing. Typically, cameras used in teleconferencing are installed at the side of the display monitor, but not in the center of the monitor. This system makes it too difficult for users to contact each eyes. Therefore, eys contact is the most important in the immersive videoconferencing. In the proposed method, we use the stereo camera and the depth camera to correct the eye contact. The depth camera is the kinect camera, which is the relatively cheap price, and estimate the depth information efficiently. However, the kinect camera has some inherent disadvantages. Therefore, we fuse the kinect camera with stereo camera to compensate the disadvantages of the kinect camera. Consecutively, for the gaze-corrected image, view synthesis is performed by 3D warping according to the depth information. Experimental results verify that the proposed system is effective in generating natural gaze-corrected images.

A Low Cost 3D Skin Wrinkle Reconstruction System Based on Stereo Semi-Dense Matching (반 밀집 정합에 기반한 저가형 3차원 주름 데이터 복원)

  • In the paper, we proposed a new system to retrieve 3D wrinkle data based on stereo images. Usually, 3D reconstruction based on stereo images or video is very popular and it is the research focus, which has been applied for culture heritage, building and other scene. The target is object measurement, the scene depth calculation and 3D data obtained. There are several challenges in our research. First, it is hard to take the full information wrinkle images by cameras because of light influence, skin with non-rigid object and camera performance. We design a particular computer vision system to take winkle images with a long length camera lens. Second, it is difficult to get the dense stereo data because of the hard skin texture image segmentation and corner detection. We focus on semi-dense stereo matching algorithm for the wrinkle depth. Compared with the 3D scanner, our system is much cheaper and compared with the physical modeling based method, our system is more flexible with high performance.

  • This paper is a study on the 3D infrared image enhancement with Stereoscopic algorithm on still infrared image. The adapted stereo method is that the depth is extracted by comparison with right-left image, and the enhanced 3D infrared image by matching based on feature is realized. As the result of experiment this method forced the more smooth edge lines of 3D infrared images.

  • The 3D infrared image enhancement with Stereoscopic algorithm on still infrared image is presented.   • Stereo matching technique is used in many practical fields like satellite image analysis and computer vision. In this paper, we suggest a method to extract a target object image from a complicated background. For example, human face image can be extracted from random background. This method can be applied to computer vision such as security system, dressing simulation by use of extracted human face, 3D modeling, and security system. Many researches about stereo matching have been performed. Conventional approaches can be categorized into area-based and feature-based method. In this paper, we start from area-based method and apply area tracking using scanning window. Coarse depth information is used for area merging process using area searching data. Finally, we produce a target object image.

  • The depth information of 3D image lost by projecting 3D-object to 2D-screen for earning image. If depth information is restored and is used to recognize 3D-object, we can make the more effective recognition system. We often use shape from stereo algorithm in order to restore this information. In this paper, we suggest 3-D object recognition system in which the 3-D Hough transform domain is employed to represent the 3-D objects. In this system, we use the moving vector of object to reduce matching time and In second matching step, the unknown input image is compared with the reference images, which is made with octree codes. Octree codes are used in volume-based representation of a three dimensional object. The result of simulation show that the proposed 3-D object recognition system provides satisfactory performance.

  • 본 논문에서는 스테레오 영상에서 두 영상간의 깊이(Depth) 정보를 이용해서 영역을 기반으로 한 영상매칭을 수행한 추 사람의 얼굴 영역을 결정한다 영역 결정은 설정된 탐색 윈도우에 의해 좌, 우 영상간의 MSE(Minimum Square Error)를 검색하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 매칭 과정에서 발생하는 영역 오류를 보정하기 위해서 타원 마스크를 이용하는 방법을 제안하며 실행 시간을 줄이기 위하여 2D 도메인에서 쿼드트리(Quad-tree) 윈도우를 사용한다.

  • Stereo images have an advantage of calculating depth(distance) values which can not analyze from 2-D images. However, depth information obtained by stereo images has due to following reasons: it can be obtained by computation process; mismatching occurs when stereo matching is processing in occlusion which has an effect on accuracy of calculating depth information. Also, if global method is used for stereo matching, it needs a lot of computation. Therefore, this paper proposes the method obtaining disparity map which can reduce computation time and has higher accuracy than established method. Edge extraction which is image segmentation based on feature is used for improving accuracy and reducing computation time. Color K-Means method which is image segmentation based on color estimates correlation of objects in an image. And it extracts region of interest for applying Loopy Belief Propagation(LBP). For this, disparity map can be compensated by considering correlation of objects in the image. And it can reduce computation time because of calculating region of interest not all pixels. As a result, disparity map has more accurate and the proposed method reduces computation time.
