Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the factors influencing the quality of life among the patients with Crohn's disease. Method: Data were collected from 97 Crohn's disease patients between September 17 and October 20 in 2009. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS program. Results: There were significant differences in the participants' quality of life depending on their age, economic status, pain, diarrhea, weight loss, Crohn's disease activity index (CDAI), and use of medications such as antidiarrhotica, steroid, and analgesics. The results also showed the correlations between the participants' qualities of life and thier pain, CDAI, anxiety, depression, perceived health condition, and of body image. Finally, the factors affecting the quality of life in patients with Crohn's disease included anxiety, perceived health state, pain, and CDAI. The explanatory power of these factors was 79.5%. Conclusion: The results imply that controlling the patients' pain and providing emotional support for anxiety reduction are crucial. In a similar vein, tailored nursing interventions considering individual patients' conditions are believed to help the patients positively perceive their disease. A future research, can conduct further investigations of these factors from more diverse perspectives, which is expected to promote more effective nursing strategies for Crohn's disease patients.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the association between psychosocial work environments and depressive symptoms among Korean registered nurses. Methods: The study population of 331 registered nurses was derived from the 2014 Korean Working Condition Survey (KWCS). Depressive symptom was assessed using the WHO-5 wellbeing index. Results: The thirty-five percentage of Korean registered nurses reported the risk for depressive symptom. Korean nurses with higher 'work-family conflict' were more likely at the risk of depression almost 1.83 (95% CI 1.04~3.20) times than their counterpart. Higher 'possibilities for development' were more likely decrease almost 60% of the risk of depressive symptom. Conclusion: Work-family conflict and possibility of development were associated with depressive symptom among Korean registered nurses. We suggest future researches identifying strategies for decreasing work-family conflict and its negative effects.
The most common deformity of the sternum is the depression deformity, variously calid pectus Excavatum, funnel chest, schwusterbrust, trichterburst, thorax en entonnoir. During the period 1983 to 1991 a total of 15 cases of funnel chest were treated surgically at Department of Thoracic Surgery, Hanyang University Hospital. The age at the time of operation ranged from 4 to 26 years 73.3 percent of the patients were under 12 years of age They all had symptoms of feeling Inferiority about chest deformity. The concavity on the funnel chest varied in its Extent, and the severity, which was measured by water volume filled into it, varied from 45ml to 100ml. We have Experienced 15 cases of pectus Exc-avatum with several operative method, i.e., Ravitch operation in 2 cases, Taguchi operation in 3 cases[using by Both IMA], Adkins operation in 5 cases, Modified wada operation [sternal costal cartilage Elevation Technique] in 5 cases. After surgery, follow up vertebral Index showed 44%, preoperatively and 29% postoperatively, average decrement of 15%. We Reported 15 cases of funnel chest and the surgical results of thease cases were satisfactory Except one case of Ravitch operation.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of health-related quality of life among the aged who have been living in one urban community. The number of participants was 167 of people who were 60 and over. health-related quality of life was measured by EQ-5D in Korean Version. The order of frequency of 5 domain in EQ-5D were pain/discomfort, mobility, anxiety/depression, usual activity, self care. 32 of profiles were found from the study participants, and '11111' among them was 28.7%. Mean of EQ-5D index was $0.82{\pm}0.14$. Multiple Regression analysis of health-related quality of life explained 31% of variance of health-related quality of life using EQ-5D. In this analysis, age, regular exercise, spouse were found to be predictors to health-related quality of life measured by EQ-5D. The finding of this study will be the basis of well organized model of health-related quality of life for the aged.
Purpose: The present study was conducted to examine the effects of a health counseling program by occupational health nurses on the unemployed visiting the Employment Welfare Plus Center. Methods: The one-group pretest-posttest design was used. The study presented a secondary analysis of the data collected in a health counseling program run by occupational health nurses for the unemployed visiting the Employment Welfare Plus Center. Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Shapiro-Wilk test, ${\chi}^2$ test and Wilcoxon signed rank test were used to analyze 158 data collected between October 5, 2015 and January 5, 2016. Results: After the intervention, the participants showed a significant decrease in the level of stress index (uBioMacpa), stress (discomfort), musculoskeletal pain and depression. In addition, the participants showed a significant increase in self-rated general health, exercise and regular eating behavior. Conclusion: The health counseling program offered by occupational health nurses is an effective intervention to improve the physical and mental health of the unemployed individuals visiting the Employment Welfare Plus Center.
Objectives: We conducted this study to analysis obesity pattern and obesity related blood parameters. Methods: A total of 64 overweight and obese (body mass index [BMI] ${\geq}23cm/kg^2$) women who had no other disease was recruited. Body composition and obesity related blood parameters were measured. Also subjects were given and filled out the Obesity pattern identification questionnaire. We analyzed the differences of body composition and blood parameters and measured correlations of BMI and blood parameters in each obesity pattern. Results: The distribution of obesity pattern was liver depression (35.6%), food accumulation (47.5%) and deficiency (pi and yang deficiency, 22.0%), in order. There were no significant differences age, body composition and obesity related blood parameters between obesity patterns. BMI and obesity related blood parameters, however, showed significant correlations depending on obesity patterns. Conclusions: We concluded that correlations between BMI and obesity related blood parameters were differed depending on obesity patterns.

Objective:This study aims to analyze the relationships between personality factors measured by Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) scales and the indices of safety and health in the shipbuilding industry. Background: Many researches reported that there were significant relationships between some MMPI subscales and traffic and industrial accidents. Method: This study analyzes 230 male workers in shipyard for their MMPI scores gathered during recruitment process and their safety and health indices from the performance record during their working period. ${\chi}^2-test$ and one-way ANOVA are used for finding the statistical significance for personality factors. The conventional grouping rule for MMPI scales and other grouping criteria considering the attitude of positive answer for the MMPI test during recruitment process are used for analysis. Results: The Hypomania (Ma) and Psychopathic Deviate (Pd) scales of the MMPI are the main factors related to the safety and health related indices for most grouping rules. Depression (D), Psychasthenia (Pt), Hypochondriasis (Hs), Schizophrenia (Sc), and Masculinity and Femininity (Mf) scales are also related to the safety and health indices. Conclusion and Application: The results can be used for understanding the psychological factors in human behaviors and safety and can help professional personnel take the necessary steps in improving safety on the job and also in providing the effective teaching of safe work methods.
Purpose: This study was conducted to ascertain the effectiveness of forest healing therapy by analyzing researches on forest healing therapy applied to Korean adults and to confirm that forest healing therapy can be used as a therapeutic intervention program for elderly nursing or rehabilitation nursing. Methods: We searched 972 research papers on forest therapy applied to Korean adults. We reviewed appropriate 25 research papers with experimental design among them in the final analysis. Results: Forest healing therapy had physiological and psychosocial effects. First of all, it showed physiological effects to reduce stress index such as heart rate variation. Forest therapy also improved melatonin level in blood of middle-aged women with menopause and increased alpha wave in electroencephalogram and decreased lipid level and superoxide dismutase in blood. Second, forest healing therapy showed psychosocial effects to reduce depression and to improve mental health. But the effects appeared differently depending on the implementing type, period of forest healing therapy, and the professionalism of therapists. Therefore, if forest healing therapy would be applied to nursing, it should be based on its key principle, in other words, its principle of action-interaction-response of forest healing therapy. Conclusion: The results of this study could be used to develop a forest healing program as an intervention of nursing.

Purpose: To identify the experience of violence and physical and psychiatric health in women residing in shelters. Method: A descriptive correlation research design was employed. The participants were 116 women living in shelters who consented to participate in this study. The women lived in one of 23 of the 48 shelters registered with the Ministry of Gender and Equality(2004). Their experience of violence was measured using the Conflict Tactics Scale II revised by the Ministry of Gender and Equality and their health status using the Cornell Medical Index revised by Nam(1965). Analysis included descriptive statistics, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: The results confirmed the women in shelters to have been exposed to severe physical, psychological and sexual violence from their spouses, which had led to serious problems in their musculoskeletal system and also depression. There was a significant relationship between the experience of violence and health status. Conclusion: Future research is needed to develop programs to improve the situations of these women.
Purpose: This study explored the association between workplace discrimination and violence and depressive symptoms among Korean employees. Methods: Data were obtained from the 4th Korean Working Condition Survey of 2014, which included 21,902 Korean employees. Depressive symptoms were measured using the WHO-5 Well-Being Index questionnaire scales. Results: A statistically significant relationship between workplace discrimination and workplace violence was found, and these two variables were also associated with depressive symptoms. After adjusting for variables such as sociodemographic characteristics, physical risk, and psychosocial working environment, workplace discrimination (OR=1.22, p<.001) and workplace violence (OR=1.69, p<.001) were both significantly associated with depressive symptoms. Conclusion: This study indicates that to promote employees' psychological health, systems and programs to prevent workplace discrimination and violence are needed. Development of these systems and programs should consider employees' experiences of workplace discrimination and workplace violence, sociodemographic characteristics, physical risk, and psychosocial working environments.
