상업용 내오염성 저압 RO막의 표면 특성 분석 (Surface Characteristics of Fouling Resistant Low-Pressure RO Membranes)

  • In this study, five commercially available fouling resistant low-pressure RO membranes were investigated for the treatment of seasonally brackish surface water with high organic content (${\approx}24mg/L$). The membranes investigated are LFC-1 (Hydranautics), X20 (Trisep), BW30FR1 (FilmTec), SG (Osmonics), and BE-FR (Saehan). The results of surface characterization revealed that each of these membranes has one or two unique surface characteristics to minimize the adherence of the fouling materials to the membrane. Specifically, the LFC1 membrane features a neutral or low negative surface to minimize electrostatic interactions with charged foulants. The X20, on the other hand, shows a highly negatively charged surface, and thus, is expected to perform well with feed waters containing negatively charged organics and colloids. The BW30FR1 exhibits a relatively neutral and hydrophilic surface, which could be beneficial for lessening organic and/or biofouling. The SG membrane has a smooth surface that makes it quite resistant to fouling, particularly for colloidal deposition. Lastly, BE-FR membrane demonstrated a medium surface charge and a slightly higher hydrophobicity. In the pilot study, all of the four membranes experienced a gradual increase in MTC (water mass transfer coefficient or specific flux) over time, indicating no fouling occurred during the pilot study. The deterioration of permeate water quality such as TDS was also observed over time, suggesting that the integrity of the membranes was compromised by the monochloramine used for biofouling control.

  • 테일러 와류흐름 여과에서 평균기공 1.2 ${\mu}m$인 셀룰로우스 에스테르 정밀막으로 이루어진 내부원통의 회전속도와 슬러리의 농도, 입자의 크기에 따른 여과선속의 변화를 실험을 통하여 알아보았다. 여과선속은 압력차에 비례하고 저항에 반비례하였으며, 시간에 따른 케이크 층의 저항 변화를 회전속도, 슬러리의 농도, 입자의 크기에 따라 검토하였다. 회전속도가 증가할수록 케이크 저항이 감소하고 짧은 시간에 준정상 상태에 도달하였다 슬러리의 농도를 증가시킬수록 초기 저항이 급격히 증가하였고 높은 저항값에서 준정상 상태가 유지되었으나, 준정상 상태에 도달하는 시간은 농도에 무관하였다. 입자 크기가 작을 때 저항이 크게 나타남을 관찰하였는데, 입자 크기가 작을수록 막 기공을 막을 확률이 더 높고 전단력에 의해 영향을 덜 받기 때문이라 생각할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제안한 모델식은 입자의 퇴적과 제거항으로 나누어져 있는데, 실험상수의 평균값을 사용하여 실험결과와 잘 일치하였다.

나노유체에서 파울링 현상이 유동 비등 열전달에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 (A Study on Influence of Flow Boiling Heat Transfer on Fouling Phenomenon in Nanofluids)

  • A boiling heat transfer is used in various industry such as power generation systems, heat exchangers, air-conditioning and refrigerations. In the boiling heat transfer system, the critical heat flux (CHF) is the important factor, and it indicated safety of the system. It has kept up studies on the CHF enhancement. Recently, it is reported the CHF enhancement, when working fluid used the nanofluid with high thermal properties. But it could be occurred nanoflouling phenomenon from nanoparticle deposition, when nanofluid applied the heat transfer system. And, it is reported that the safety and thermal efficiency of heat transfer system could decrease. Therefore, it is compared and analyzed to the CHF and the boiling heat transfer coefficient on effect of artificial nanofouling (coating) in oxidized multi-wall carbon nanotube nanofluids. As the result, the CHF of oxidized multi-wall carbon nanofluids and the CHF of artificial nanofouling in the nanofluids increased to maximum 99.2%, 120.88%, respectively. A boiling heat transfer coefficient in nanofluid increased to maximum 24.29% higher than purewater, but artificial nanofouling decreased to maximum -7.96%.

  • $(Ba(Zr_{0.85}Y_{0.15})O_{3-\delta})$ oxide, showing high protonic conductivity at high temperatures and good chemical stability with $CO_2$ are referred to as hydrogen separation membrane. For high efficiency of hydrogen separation ($H_2$ flux and selectivity) and low fabrication cost, ultimate thin and dense BZY-Ni layer has to be coated on a porous substrate such as $ZrO_2$. Aerosol depostion (AD) process is a novel technique to grow ceramic film with high density and nano-crystal structure at room-temperature, and may be applicable to the fabrication process of AD integration ceramic layer effectively. XRD, SEM, X-ray mapping measurements were conducted in order to analyze the characteristics of BZY-Ni membrane fabricated by AD process. it is observed that it is homogeneous distribution for BZY-Ni. The result of $H_2$ permeation rate suggests that BZY-Ni composite is higher than BZY.

  • 저압 유기금속 화학기상증착법을 이용하여 $600^{\circ}C$$620^{\circ}C$에서 InP 기판 위에 격자 일치된 InGaAsP 에피층을 성장하였다. InGaAsP 에피층의 기상에서의 조성에 따른 고상에 서의 조성의 변화를 분석하여, 3족 원소의 경우에는 기상에서 반응이 일어나는 표면으로의 3족 원료의 확산에 의해 조성이 결정되었으며, 5족의 경우에는 As과 P의 증기압의 차이와 $AsH_3$, $PH_3$의 열분해 효율의 차이에 의해 조성이 결정되었다. 측정 온도에 따른 PL스펙트 럼의 변화를 분석하여 75K 이하의 저온에서 비정상적인 PL스펙트럼 피크의 거동을 관찰하 였다. 이러한 PL피크의 비정상적인 거동은 투과 전자현미경 분석과 투과 스펙트럼 분석을 통해 국부적인 ordering의 차이에 의한 에너지 갭의 공간적인 변화에 의해 나타나는 것으로 설명되었다.

3차원 위빙 대용착 지능 용접캐리지 개발 및 적용 (The Development and Application of Intelligent Welding Carriage with High Deposition Rate by 3-D Weaving)

  • In shipbuilding industry, welding position are usually flat and vertical position at the erection stage. Application of SAW and EGW for these positions makes it possible to achieve enhanced productivity and high quality. But owing to their large size and weight it is difficult to apply these techniques in short and narrow regions. To overcome this problem, our company developed light weight and compact size 4-axis welding carriage which perform 3D weaving. The purpose of this study is to explain the development and application of intelligent welding carriage using 3D weaving pattern that can fill a large amount of welds and thereby making it possible to achieve high quality of welding. This study shows 3D weaving pattern, development of weaving database, and skill of adaptive control response for the variable gap. Also, it shows the results of procedure qualification test for the AH-grade steel when applied to the intelligent welding carriage.

중기 플라이스토세 전이기 전후 북태평양 중앙 해역 퇴적물에 기록된 풍성 퇴적물 입자 퇴적 양상 변화 복원 (Reconstruction of Changes in Eolian Particle Deposition Across the Mid-Pleistocene Transition in the Central Part of the North Pacific)

  • We investigated flux, grain size distribution, Nd-Sr isotope composition, mineral composition, and trace metal composition (REEs and Sc) of inorganic silicate fraction (ISF, mainly Asian dust with an unrestricted amount of volcanic materials) deposited during 600~1000 ka across the Mid-Pleistocene Transition at core NPGP 1401-2A (32°01'N, 178°59'E, 5205m) taken from the central part of the North Pacific. Our results reveal about a 2-fold increase in ISF flux after 800 ka, which is associated with an increase in La/Sc and a decrease in mean grain size. Asian dusts are finer than volcanic materials and La/Sc increases with the enhanced contribution of Asian dusts. Thus, increased flux after 800 ka can be explained by the increased contribution of Asian dusts relative to volcanic materials, likely due to an intensified Westerly Jet (WJ) and the drying of the Asian continent after the MPT. Mean grain size of ISF varies systematically in relation to glacial-interglacial cycles with a decrease during glacial stages, which is consistent with the previous results in the study area. Such a cyclical pattern is also attributed to the increase in the relative contribution of Asian dusts over volcanic components in glacial stages due to intensified WJ and drying of the Asian continent. Thus, it can be concluded that climate changes that had occurred across the MPT were similar to those of interglacial to glacial transitions at least in terms of the dust budget. Different from the Shatsky Rise, however, compositional changes associated with glacial-interglacial mean grain size fluctuations are not observed in Nd-Sr isotope ratios and trace element composition in our study of the Hess Rise. This may be attributed to the location of the study site far (> 4,000 km) from the volcanic sources. The volcanic component at the study site comprises less than 10% and varies within 3% over glacial-interglacial cycles. Such a small variation was not enough to imprint geochemical signals.

HIGH HEAT FLUX TEST WITH HIP BONDED 35X35X3 BE/CU MOCKUPS FOR THE ITER BLANKET FIRST WALL

  • To develop the manufacturing methods for the blanket first wall (FW) of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) and to verify the integrity of the joint, Be/Cu mockups were fabricated and tested at the KoHLT-1 (Korea Heat Load Test facility), a graphite heater facility located at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). Since Be and Cu joining is the focus of the present study, the fabricated mockups had a CuCrZr heat sink joined with three Be tiles as an armor material, unlike the original ITER blanket FW, which has a stainless steel structure and coolant tubes. Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) was carried out at $580^{\circ}C$ and 100 MPa for 2 hours as the method for Be/Cu joining. Three interlayers, namely, $1{\mu}mCr/10{\mu}mCu$, $1{\mu}mTi/0.5{\mu}mCr/10{\mu}mCu$, and $5{\mu}mTi/10{\mu}mCu$ were applied as a coating to the Be tiles by a physical vapor deposition (PVD) method. A shear test was performed with the specimens, which were fabricated by the same methods as those used to fabricate the mockups. The average values were 125 MPa to 180 MPa, and the samples with the $1{\mu}mCr/10{\mu}mCu$ interlayer showed the lowest value. No defect or delamination was found in the joints of the mockups by the developed ultrasonic test using a flat-type probe with a 10 MHz frequency and a 0.25 inch diameter. High heat flux (HHF) tests were performed at $1.0\;MW/m^2$ heat flux for each mockup using the given conditions, and the results were analyzed by ANSYS-CFX code. For the test criteria, an expected fatigue lifetime about 1,000 cycles was obtained by analysis with ANSYS-mechanical code. Mockups using the interlayers of $1{\mu}mTi/0.5{\mu}mCr/10{\mu}mCu$ and $5{\mu}mTi/10{\mu}mCu$ survived up to 1,100 cycles over the required number of cycles. However, one of the Be tiles in the other two mockups using the $1{\mu}mCr/10{\mu}mCu$ interlayer was detached during the screening test, and others were detached by discharge after 862 cycles. The integrity of the joints using the proposed interlayers was proven by the HHF test, but the other interlayer requires more study before it can be used for the joining of Be to Cu. Moreover, it was confirmed that the measured temperatures agreed well with the analysis temperatures, which were used to estimate the lifetime and that the developed facility showed its capability of the long time operation.

토양-대기의 수은 교환작용 -서울시 주거지역에 대한 예비측정- (Preliminary Measurements of Mercury Exchange Rates Across the Soil-Air Boundary in a Residential Area of Seoul)

  • To examine various aspects of Hg exchange processes, we measured Hg$^{\circ}$concentration gradients over soil surfaces in a residential area of Seoul during Sept. 1997. From these measurements, we found that Hg$^{\circ}$concentrations in lower(20 cm) and upper(200 cm) levels varied in the range of 3.15~14.38 (5.30$\pm$1.88: N=236) and 2.07~15.10ng/m$^3$(4.06$\pm$1.69: N=236), respectively. When our data were divided into emission and dry deposition, emission of Hg$^{\circ}$was overwhelmingly dominant (up to 98% in frequency) over dry deposition. The concentration gradients for emission and deposition events were 1.29$\pm$0.86(N=231) and -1.0$\pm$1.27ng/m$^3$(N=5), respectively. The observation of excessively high concentrations in both levels and development of strong gradients suggest that our study site be greatly affected by certain pollution sources of mercury. In face, those data were quite comparable to that had previously been observed from highly contaminated soil environs of Tennessee, USA. To provide some insights into the processes governing the Hg$^{\circ}$exchange processes, we have conducted correlation analyses between Hg$^{\circ}$data and other concurrently determined meteorological plus chemical data. In general, Hg$^{\circ}$concentrations of both levels exhibited similarly the existence of strong correlations with parameters like windspeed, temperature, and relative humidity. Although its concentration gradient data showed similarly strong correlations with meteorological parameters, they showed somewhat unique patterns in that their correlations with Hg$^{\circ}$concentration were noticeably stronger for the lower level than the upper level. To provide rough estimates of Hg$^{\circ}$fluxes in this study, we computed its flux using our gradient data and the predicted K values from previous studies. According to this approach, Hg$^{\circ}$emissions were generally in the range of 103$\pm$80(N=231), while its depositions, being scarcely found, were on the similar magnitude of -92$\pm$128ng/m$^2$/hr(N=5). The findings of excessive emission of Hg$^{\circ}$in residential area of Korea suggests that contamination of mercury be a significant process and hence be dealt more seriously.

석유시추용 인코넬 625강의 FCAW용접에 의한 부식성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Corrosive Characteristics of Inconel 625 for Petroleum Application by FCAW Process)

  • Recently, Inconel 625 is used widely in offshore processing piping in order to extend the maintenance tenn and improve the quality of anti-corrosion. According to the resistance to attack in various corrosive media at temperatures from $200^{\circ}C$ to aver $1090^{\circ}C$, in combination with good low- and high-temperature mechanical strength. In general, High quality weldments for this material are readily produced by commonly used processes. in recent years, the flux cored arc welding(FCAW) process is becoming more popular due to higher deposition rate and a better weld quality as compared to the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) process, at the same time, exhibiting equally good weld metal toughness similar to the SAW process. In this study, the weldability and weldment characteristics(mechanical properties and corrosive environment) of Inconel 625 are considered in FCAW weld associated with the several weld shielding gases($80\%Ar\;+\;20\%\;CO_2,\;50\%Ar\;+\;50\%\;CO_2,\;100\%\;CO_2$) in viewpoint of welding productivity.
