For simulation of a wing unfolding motion for the various aerodynamic conditions, equation governing unfolding motion and moments applying to the unfolding wing were modelled. Aerodynamic roll moment consists of the static roll moment and the damping moment, which were obtained through wind tunnel tests and numerical analyses respectively. Panel method was used to compute the roll damping coefficient with twisted wing, whose deflection angle was equivalent to angle of attack due to the deployment motion. Roll damping coefficient is a function of angle of attack, sideslip angle, and deployment angle but not of angular velocity of deployment. Simulation with aerodynamic damping model gave more similar deployment time compared to wing deployment test results.

In order to reduce the distribution cost of sensor nodes, a mobile sensor deployment has been proposed. The mobile sensor deployment can be solved by finding the optimal layout and planning the movement of sensor nodes with minimum energy consumption. However, previous studies have not sufficiently addressed these issues with an efficient way. Therefore, we propose a new deployment approach satisfying these features, namely a tree-based approach. In the tree-based approach, we propose three matching schemes. These matching schemes match each sensor node to a vertex in a rake tree, which can be trivially transformed to the target layout. In our experiments, the tree-based approach successfully deploys the sensor nodes in the optimal layout and consumes less energy than previous works.
This paper is a study on validation model that can verify the arrangement of equipment constituting offshore plant using system engineering approach in offshore plant tender stage. In order to design offshore plant topside maintenance equipment, topside layout verification should be preceded. However, there are many errors in the bidding stage due to the FEED results that are not perfect, the verification can not be performed sufficiently due to the limitation of the bidding period and others reasons. Therefore, we propose a validation model that can effectively verify the equipment layout within a limited condition by simplifying the main process in the system engineering process, which is a multidisciplinary approach, and confirmed through the Functional Deployment Model. Also, we verified the validation model for topside equipment deployment through case studies.
This paper proposes a cloud workflow model theoretically supported by the information control net modeling methodology as a cloud workflow modeling methodology that is mandatory in implementing realtime enterprise workflow management systems running with cloud computing environments. The eventual goal of the cloud workflow model proposed in this paper is to support those cloud workflow architectures reflecting the types of cloud deployment models such as private, community, public, and hybrid cloud deployment models. Moreover, the proposed model is a mathematical graph model that is extended from the information control net modeling methodology used in conventional enterprise workflow modeling, and it aims to theoretically couple this methodology with the cloud deployment models. Finally, this paper tries to verify the feasibility of the proposed model by building a possible cloud workflow architecture and its cloud workflow services on a realtime enterpeise cloud workflow management system.
With the continuous and outstanding development of information technology(IT), human being is coming to the new computing era which is called cloud computing. This era brings lots of huge benefits also at the same time release the resources of IT infrastructure and data boom for man. In the future no longer, most of IT service providers, enterprises, organizations and systems will adopt this new computing model. There are three main deployment models in cloud computing including public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud; each one also has its own cons and pros. While implementing any kind of cloud services, customers have to choose one of three above deployment models. Thus, our paper aims to represent a practical framework to help the adopter select which one will be the best suitable deployment model for their requirements by evaluating each model comprehensively. The framework is built by applying the analytic hierarchy process(AHP), namely benefit-cost-opportunity-risk(BCOR) model as a powerful and effective tool to serve the problem. The gained results hope not only to provide useful information for the readers but also to contribute valuable knowledge to this new area. In addition, it might support the practitioners' effective decision making process in case they meet the same issue and have a positive influence on the increase of right decision for the organization.
The purpose of this paper was to understand the dynamics of deployment of large mesh antennas, and to provide a numerical method for determining the dynamic stiffness and the driving forces for the design. The deployment structure was numerically modeled using the frame elements. The eigenvalue analysis was demonstrated, with respect to the folded and unfolded configurations of the antenna. A multibody dynamic model was formulated with Kane's equation, and simulated using the pseudo upper triangular decomposition (PUTD) method for resolving the constrained problem. Based on the multibody model, the kinetics of the deployment, the motor driving forces, and the feasibility of the designed deployment structure were investigated.

Network Function Virtualization (NFV) environment can deal with dynamic changes in traffic status with appropriate deployment and scaling of Virtualized Network Function (VNF). However, determining and applying the optimal VNF deployment is a complicated and difficult task. In particular, it is necessary to predict the situation at a future point because it takes for the process to be applied and the deployment decision to the actual NFV environment. In this paper, we randomly generate service requests in Multiaccess Edge Computing (MEC) topology, then obtain training data for machine learning model from an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) solution. We use the simulation data to train the machine learning model which predicts the optimal VNF deployment in a predefined future point. The prediction model shows the accuracy over 90% compared to the ILP solution in a 5-minute future time point.

It is reported that north Korea has already developed 1,500 to 2,000-km-range Scud missile. As a defensive strategy against Scud attack on military and civilian facilities the military authorities are considering deployment of Patriot missile. This paper deals with its optimal deployment strategy. In this problem a Patriot missile which has multiple-facility responsibility may be able to protect each of its assigned facilities only with a certain probability, not absolute protection, and it may not be adequate to have only a single missile protect a facility, either because of its operational reliability or because of its limited availability at any given point in time. We formulate this problem into the probabilistic partial set covering model developed by Sherali and Kim. The applicability, verification and validation of the model are tested via an abbreviated case study.

In recent years, advanced countries in energy sector are emphasizing the importance of the development and deployment of renewable energy to cope with the global environmental crisis such as depletion of fossil energy, climate convention to control emissions of greenhouse gases. In this paper, we evaluate the economic value of the investment in new and renewable energy R&D in Korea and optimal deployment timing of new and renewable energy by using the real option approach. The real option model adopted in this paper assumes that a decision maker has a compound option to abandon, deployment, or continue the R&D. As a result by using empirical data of Korea, it is found that there exists a considerable amount of positive real option value (ROV) in the investment of new and renewable energy R&D while its net present value (NPV) calculated by traditional discounted cash flow (DCF) model shows negative value.

In this research, the performances of active hood lift system(AHLS) are investigated according to the structural improvement through the experimental test. After introducing the working principle of the AHLS activated by a gunpowder actuator, the structural problems that cause the inefficiencies in the actuation are analyzed to reduce the deployment time of system. Sequentially, the improved structural model is proposed base on the analysis. The deployment time of AHLS are evaluated by the experimental test, and it has been identified that the improved model can provide a faster deploying time of AHLS.
