  • There has been an increasing need to assess the effects of climate change on human health. It is hard to use climate data to evaluate health effects because such data have a grid format, which could not represent specific cities or provinces. Therefore, the grid-format climate data of South Korea based on RCP (Representative Concentration Pathway) scenarios were modified into area-format climate data according to the major cities or provinces of the country, up to the year 2100. Moreover, heat index (HI) and discomfort index (DI) databases were developed from the modified climate database. These databases will soon be available for experts via a Website, and the expected HI and DI of any place in the country, or at any time, can be found in the country's climate homepage (http://www.climate.go.kr). The HI and DI were analyzed by plotting the average indices every ten years, and by comparing cities or provinces with index level changes, using the geographic information system (GIS). Both the HI and DI are expected to continually increase from 2011 to 2100, and to reach the most dangerous level especially in August 2100. Among the major cities of South Korea, Gwangju showed the highest HI and DI, and Gangwon province is expected to be the least affected area in terms of HI and DI among all the country's provinces.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the research characteristics and the trend of the Journal of the Korean Society of Clinical Toxicology by bibliometric analysis. Methods: This study was a retrospective quantitative literature review of the publications. We collected data from the internet homepage of the Korean Society of Clinical Toxicology. Among 228 publications, a total of 225 articles were included in this analysis. The data were analyzed from different perspectives, including article types, study design, number of authors, type of toxic material, and the top five ranking prolific authors and the affiliated organization were identified. Results: A total of 225 articles were analyzed; 98(43.6%) were original articles, 115(51.1%) were case reports, and 12(5.3%) were reviews. Among the original articles, nine were prospective studies and 89 were retrospective studies, which were assorted according to study design; there were two(2.0%) cross sectional studies, 93(94.9%) cohort studies, and three(3.1%) etc. The median number of authors per article was five and the top five ranking authors and affiliated organizations published 31.1% and 32.8% of total articles, respectively. The most abundant topic was pesticides, followed by natural poisons and poisons encountered in the work place. Conclusion: Since its foundation, the Journal of the Korean Society of Clinical Toxicology has published 19 issues and 228 articles and has played a key role in development of toxicology research in Korea. However, low ratio of original articles and a decrease in the number of recent articles indicates that greater effort is needed in clinical research. In addition, further interest of many experts and various institutions is necessary.

  • As the tourists of ecotourism are increasing, the supply for detailed information on tourist attraction is also significantly increasing. As a result of survey given to tourists, it showed that they are more interested in natural ecological resources rather than history or culture among resources of ecotourism and pointed out that more information on the region needs to be supplemented. In order to provide accurate, detailed and standardized information to tourists, ecotourism resources were categorized as experience type from the position of consumer and ecological resource type. And the category of experience is again divided into 4 types - nature, education, communication and adventure. Moreover, after developing the web-based homepage for it, the research proposed the cases of Tae-an area and Ulleungdo Island. If the problems from test operation are supplemented, it is expected to suggest the standard of mobile based digital storytelling technology in the field of ecotourism.

  • In order to read newspaper articles, the use of paper newspapers is decreasing and smartphone are increasingly used. As a result, the number of news apps continues to increase. Many of the news apps in the Android Play Store fall into two categories. The first is an app that is developed by a specific newspaper company and distributes only the articles of the newspaper company. The rest is an app that shows a list of newspapers and shows the homepage when a newspaper is selected. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a Real-Time News app for collecting articles from many newspapers and providing them in real time. Newspapers provide up-to-date articles with RSS feeds. The server program stores them in the DB, and transmits the articles requested in the Real-Time News app in real time. In order to see the latest news, it is possible to collect the articles of each newspaper without visiting the websites of the various newspapers, and it is possible to reduce the mobile data usage used to access each website.

  • This study was conducted in order to evaluate the current status of management of students affected by food allergy and provide basic data necessary to school foodservice. A survey was conducted on 300 nutrition teachers (dietitians). For food allergy management, 79.3% of participants regularly checked on students with food allergy. The rate of providing allergy-free or alternative food for students with food allergy was 35.7%; and the reasons for not providing such food was 'lack of cooking time and employees' (69.4%). Furthermore, 79.7% of participants provided nutrition education and counseling for students with food allergy and the reasons for not providing education and counseling was 'lack of time' (59.0%). Nutrition teachers (dietitians) with experience of job training related to food allergy comprised 53.7%. The mean score of importance of food allergy management was 4.02/5.00. The items with high scores of importance of ${\geq}4.20/5.00points$ were periodical check on students with food allergy, sending newsletters or homepage posting of foods causing allergy; however, provision of allergy-free or alternative food scored 3.64/5.00 points. The score of importance was significantly higher in those who checked on students with food allergy (p<0.05), offered allergy-free or alternative food (p<0.01), and in those with experience of job training (p<0.05) than those who did not. Therefore, in order to manage students with food allergy, nutrition teachers (dietitians) require on-going training on food allergy in order to practice provision of alternative foods and administrative support to the cooking personnel and facilities.
