Second, the educational program for dental coordinators developed in this study consisted of a total of 60 hours, including 42 hours of lecture and 18 hours of practice. A pre-requisite curriculum and a final curriculum were developed, and the detailed educational contents and supplies were outlined for each subject. Third, after comparing it with the existing clinic coordinator curricula from 20 educational institutions, the curriculum based on DACUM contained 11 additional fields. Conclusions: This study developed a more specialized, detailed, and practical dental coordinator curriculum based on DACUM. It is expected that more dental coordinators could be trained more professionally with this curriculum, and it could lead to further improvement of the curriculum.

  • Korea, where the national curriculum is run, can change school education by specifying basic competence in the common curriculum of elementary and middle schools for students to pursue school learning and real life. The numeracy as a basic competence should not be limited to mathematics, so it needs to be specified in the national curriculum covering several subjects and guided through various subject curriculums. To this end, the study proposed concepts, components, and levels of numeracy and proposed ways to reflect them in the national curriculum and other subjects' curricula. To ensure its validity, the UK, Canada and Australia curriculum are analyzed, and the results of the survey are proposed for various education experts. This study proposed two ways to briefly state the numeracy in the national curriculum and to imply the contents related to the numeracy in each subject curriculum, and to present the concepts, components and levels of numeracy in the national curriculum in detail and to describe numeracy code in each subject curriculum. These suggestions obtained high consent from experts.

Results: The nomenclature of competency including nursing competencies, competency modeling and competency-based curriculum were clarified and summarized. Through analyzing and reviewing former studies related to competency, desirable nursing competency modeling and nursing competency-based curriculum were proposed and described. Conclusion: Learner-centered curriculum should be established based on nursing education that emphasizes intellectual skills acquisition and the enhancement of future-oriented professionalism. Competency modeling should reflect the fact that teaching-learning strategies should focus on the integration of nursing theories and clinical practices. Nursing competency modeling is essential in order to develop a genuine competency-based curriculum while in-depth practical research should be followed so that nursing theories and clinical practices work together in a coordinated fashion.

Data were collected between September 1 and November 30, 2019 via e-mail. Data were analyzed using SPSS v24.0 and NVivo 12.0. Results: Compliance with the first standardization of the paramedic curriculum was over 70% in only 11 on the 26 major subjects. The second standardization of the paramedic curriculum consists of 27 subjects requiring 76~79 credits for the 3-year course and 78~82 credits for the 4-year course. Conclusion: We suggested a minimum number of essential subjects to cultivate competent paramedics following the second standardization of the paramedic curriculum, and we hope colleges comply with this curriculum. Twenty to twenty-five percent of major subjects can be determined by the discretion of the college to maximize competency of paramedic students.

  • Objectives : In order to make a proposal of a Korean standard dental hygiene curriculum, the job description of the National Health Personnel Licensing Examination Board was analyzed to prepare a job analysis matrix of dental hygienist to select required core competency. Methods : Data were analyzed to test the job validity of dental hygienist and categorize the duties of dental hygienist. A proposal of a standard dental hygiene curriculum was mapped out by making a comparative analysis of the courses necessary for American authorization of dental hygiene curriculum, existing proposals of Korean standard dental hygiene curriculum and the courses of the departments of dental hygiene offered by domestic three-year colleges and four-year universities. Results : Basic medicine courses were reinforced or newly offered to provide an opportunity for students to transfer to a domestic four-year university or to a foreign university. In the field of clinical dental hygiene and practice, preventive dentistry, prophylaxis and practice were integrated, and the names of the related courses were unified to give a chance for students to engage in comprehensive dental hygiene practice. There were different courses for dental clinical science at present. In this proposal, students should earn 125 credits in total. Conclusions : Standard dental hygiene curriculum proposal was required by three-year and four-year colleges across the nation. To make it happen, the original names of dental hygiene courses should be used, and the dental hygiene certification and evaluation institute that is under the umbrella of the Korean Dental Hygienists Association should lay out the standard of the KSDHEP to facilitate the utilization of the standard dental hygiene curriculum proposal.
