The purpose of this study was to analyse the stability and validity of the related factors to the caries incidence according to the duration. The subjects were 249 elementary school students. Among them, the number of male students was 137 (55.0%). In the first year, all subjects gave the responses of the questionnaire composed of demographic variables and oral heath behaviors. They also received oral examination and tests of Dentocult SM and Dentocult LB. In the 2nd-4th year, they received second oral examination for the assessment of caries incidence on permanent teeth. The relation of oral health-related factors with caries incidence was analyzed by chi square method and adjusted Relative Risk (RR). In the caries incidence rate for 1 year, those who had 2 or higher score of dentocult LB was 2.3 times higher than those who had 1 or lower. The caries incidence rate for 2 years was highly associated with caries on deciduous molars and dentocult LB. The caries on deciduous molars showed strong association with the caries incidence for 3 years. It was suggested that the association between the caries incidence and the related factors was different according to the duration. Therefore, dentists could need to consider the visiting period in the education of the risk factors of dental caries.
This study was implemented among 100 students of C College of Public Health who have healthy permanent dentition in order to measure the morphology and sizes of clinical crowns of permanent maxillary molars. The following are conclusions of this study. 1. The cusp height, crown width, crown thickness of clinical crowns appeared to be bilaterally symmetrical. 2. The strong development of the buccal groove showed to be superior in the right first molar. The appearance rate of the buccal pit was high in the right first molar also. 3. The type 4th cusp appeared as 100% in the left and right first molars, and 78%, 75% in the left and right second molars respectively. 4. The distal lingual cusp(DLC) size were bilaterally symmetrical in the type 4th cusp. 5. As for the distance between two cusp tips, it was large between mesial cusp tips in all of the first and second molars at both sides. 6. Development of the Carabelli's cusp was high in both the left and right first molars. 7. The appearance rate of the oblique ridge was 87.0% in the right first molar, 73.0% in the right second molar, 88.0% in the left first molar, and 73.0% in the left second molar. This is considered to be caused by people who have mild dental crown caries in their first molars. 8. The appearance rate of the mesial marginal ridge tubercle(DMRT) was high in both of the left and right first molars. That of the distal tubercle was 16.0% in the right first molar, 26.0% in the right second molar, 14.0% in the left first molar, and 21% in the left second molar.
A survery was carried out in order to know the status of student health service and student medical insurance of universities and colleges in Korea from 1 July to 30 September. 1978. And the following results were obtained; 1. Out of seventy universities and colleges, 54.8% of them had student health service facility such as student health conte. (30.0%) or health room (24.8%). 2. Out of twenty-seven national and public universities and colleges, 44.4% of them had student health service facility and out of forty-three private universities and colleges, 60.5% of them had student health service facilities. 3. Each of 80.0% of 25 universities, 43.3% of 30 colleges and 33.3% of 15 junior colleges had student health service facility. 4. Major roles of student health service were physical examination (92.1%), health counselling (86.8%), primary medical care (78.9%), tuberculosis control (68.4%), insect and rodent control (52.6%), parasite control(47.4%), water source sanitation (44.7%), and dental health care (28.9%). 5. Out of 21 universities and colleges, 66.7% of them had full time doctor and 81.0% of them had full time nurse for student health center. And out of 17 universites and colleges, 5.9% of them had full time doctor and 33.3% of then had full time nurse for student health room. 6. The range of health fee was varied from 100 won to 1,400 won per student per semester and the average was 520 won. 7. Among 55 universities and colleges, 78.6% of them had carried out annual physical examination in 1977 and the rate of physical examination was 57.4%. 8. Out of 70 universities and colleges. 45.7% of them had tuberculosis control program and the prevalence rate was 6.0 per 1,000 students. 9. Student medical insurance program was developed by ten universities and one college among 25 universities and 45 colleges. 10. Student medical insurance benefit was varied according to university and college; the reduction rate of medical fee was 20% to 80% for not only in-patient but also out-patient. 11. The upper limit of pay claim was varied according to the university and college from 5,000 won to no-limitation for out-patient and from 30,000 won to no-limitation for in-patient. 12. The highest utility rate of student medical insurance program was found in university 'F' with the rate of 791 for out-patient and 12 for admitted patient per 1,000 students.
This convergence study was conducted to identify the effect of the awareness enhancing program of the international development cooperation of college students sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). A quasi-experimental study design was used. The participants consisted of one experimental group (n=32) who attended the awareness enhancing class of international development cooperation and the other control group (n=32) who did not participate in the class in a university in C city. The data were collected using online survey before the first class and after the last class in spring semester 2019. Collected data were analyzed by ANCOVA using SPSS WIN Version 20.0 program. The levels of global citizenship (p=.003) and career preparation behavior (p=.013) was higher in the experimental group than in the control group. However, career identity(p=.385) and cooperative efficacy(p=.488) did not show significant difference between the groups. This study proposed the direction for the awareness enhancing program of the international development cooperation of college students by showing its positive effects on the global citizenship and career preparation behavior.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between personality type and symptoms and contributing factors of temporomandibular disorders. 199 college students completed the MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) and a questionnaire and collected data were analyzed by SAS 9.2 program. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The prevalence of symptoms of temporomandibular disorders and mean scales of positive answers of contributing factors appeared to be higher in I type, S type, T type, P type than in E type, N type, F type, J type. 2. ISTP and ISFP among 16 types of personality seemed to have higher prevalence of symptoms and contributing factors of temporomandibular disorders than other types of personality. 3. Symptom of TMJ pain during mouth opening seemed to occur more frequently in I type, S type, F type, J type than in E type, N type, T type, P type. 4. Contributing factors including clenching and stressful state occurred significantly more frequently in I type than E type. Gum chewing habit occurred significantly more frequently in E type than in I type. 5. Unilateral chewing habit occurred significantly more frequently in J type than in P type. 6. Nervous or sensitive persons had significantly higher mean scales of positive answers of subjective symptoms than relaxed or general persons. 7. General persons had significantly lower mean scales of positive answers of contributing factors than nervous, sensitive and relaxed persons. In conclusion, these results show that there is the relationship between personality and temporomandibular disorders and patient education and counselling considering personality type may contribute to treating patients with temporomandibular disorders.

This study was conducted with the aim of developing inspection tools to select and measure human resource figures and appropriate core competency of the educational goals pursued by S universities. Therefore, key competency factors were defined consistent with concept of talented figures and educational objectives of S universities, inspection tools were developed to measure core competences, and directions are presented for future education policies and curriculum compilation and securing data for rational operation. Based on key competency indicators, questions were developed in a self-reporting form that measures the consent level of the respondents by comprising seven areas of competence, 16 small areas (sub-capacity), and 46 questions. The main Test conducted an analysis of the questionnaires based on the survey results of 2,486 people to ensure the validity of the inspection by conducting a positive factor analysis and reliability analysis. The core competency diagnostic tool of S university is meaningful in this study which verifies the effectiveness of the curriculum and programs conducted at S university and as the first step for the rational operation of the core competency certification system to improve the competency appropriate for students.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between personality type and symptoms of oral mucosa disease. 393 college students completed the MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) and a questionnaire and collected data were analyzed by SAS 9.2 program. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Dysgeusia(p<0.05) and xerostomia(p<0.01) occurred significantly more frequently in I type than E type. 2. Herpetic stomatitis, recurrent aphthous ulcer, glossitis, dysgeusia, burning mouth syndrome and xerostomia seemed to occur more frequently in S type than in N type. 3. Most symptoms of oral mucosa disease seemed to occur the most frequently in the type including NF among 16 types of personality of MBTI. 4. Most subjects had negative attitude in curing their symptoms of oral mucosa disease(p<.0001). Significantly more subjects with I type than E type had negative attitude in curing herpetic stomatitis(p<0.01) and dysgeusia(p<0.05). 5. Most symptoms of oral mucosa disease appeared to occur the most frequently in nervous or sensitive subjects. Therefore a guideline for the individual cure of oral mucosa diseases meeting personality type is necessary.
Purpose: The aim of this preliminary study was to evaluate the effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) curriculum on development of comprehension of basic medical knowledge and quality of semi-structured problem solving including scientific reasoning skill. This scientific reasoning contained five components including: size of simple, design of research cause-effect, construction of risk factor, analysis statistic of data, interpretation of result. Materials and Methods: Seoul National University Dental students (100) participated in this experience during two weeks, 2004. Forty eight multiple-choice questions (MCQ) concerned "Infection Control and Prevention" were asked before and after two sections of Lecture-Based Learning (LBL) and PBL (pretest-posttest control group design). A semi-structured problem in epidemiological research was asked to these students after two sections (posttest-only control group design). Data (mean and SD) were analysed using the t Test for two independent samples (p<.05), comparing PBL versus LBL. Results: Our analyse of scores show no difference between LBL and PBL in the development of comprehension of "Infection Control and Prevention". The quality problem solving (epidemiological research) was significantly different between the two groups (p=.029); specially, two components' scores of reflection on scientific reasoning cause-effect (p=.000) and interpretation of result (p=.001) were significantly better for PBL than for LBL. Conclusion: Theses results indicate that comparing LBL and PBL, PBL curriculum have not been disadvantaged in comprehension of basic knowledge, and have contributed to develop the scientific reasoning in problem solving.
This Study is to identify factors that affect the interaction between professors and university students and their satisfaction with non-face-to-face lectures. The subjects were 348 university student who attended from October 5 to October 23, 2020. The statistics program was SPSS win 22.o. Among the expected benefits of non-face-to-face classes, the temporal benefit was 3.69 points, the expected benefit of the learning effect was 3.46 points, and the technical familiarity was 3.47 points. Satisfaction with non-face-to-face classes was found to be 3.58 points. Factors affecting the satisfaction of lectures in non-face-to-face classes were expected benefits of learning effect, university satisfaction, technical familiarity, expected benefits over time, and the number of non-face-to-face classes desired for the next semester. Learning effect The higher the expected benefit, the higher the university satisfaction, the higher the technical familiarity, the higher the expected temporal benefit, the higher the number of non-face-to-face classes desired for the next semester, the higher the satisfaction with the non-face-to-face class lectures. Therefore, it was confirmed that the role of the instructor was important in the interaction between the instructor and university students in the non-face-to-face class and the satisfaction of the lecture.
A study of occlusal relationship and TMJ dysfunction, parafunctional relationship and TMJ dysfunction using PRI was investigated in 23 dental students without history of being treated, ranging from 19 to 24 years old. The author used Denar Pantronic and D5-A articulator to study above. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Distribution of PRI in experimental subjects was as follows. None 13%, Slight 43%, Moderate 40%, Severe 4% Prevalance of TMJ Dysfunction was 87% 2. PRI scores of occlusal group Aoi (less than 5 in Helkimo occlusion/articulation index) was $11.72\pm2.32$ , those of occlusal group Boi (more than 5 in Helkimo occlusion/articulation index) 23.0 $\pm$ 8.06. There was a significant difference between group Aoi and group Boi(P<0.01) 3. PRI scores of occlusal group Ald (no eccentric interference, less than 0.5mm in lateral shift of slide in centric) was 12.0 $\pm$ 2.49, those of occlusal group Bld(no eccentric interference, less than 0.5mm in lateral shift of slide in centric) 24.5$\pm$5.33 There was a significant difference between group Ald and group Bld(P<0.05) 4. Prevalance of parafunction subjects(%) was 65.2%. 5. PRI scores of parafunction group was 21.6 $\pm$ 9.48, those of nonparafunctional group 18.7 $\pm$ 9.06. There was not significant difference between parafunctional group and nonparafunctional group(P>0.1)
